Or just ignore them completely, grateful in the knowledge they don’t belong to you, that they will soon be taken away and go and do something you’d like to do instead?

“has she given you any guidance?” – You what?

Tell her you’re not showing any interest in talking to babies because (presumably) you’re not interested in talking to babies.

What the hell is wrong with some people? Talking to babies? I bet that’s a right laugh….or not.

Just my little contribution but I would strongly advise that if you do indeed leave the household, it is imperative that you contact the police and social services as it is quite possible that the issue that is presenting itself as you being domestically abused is then turned even further on to the children.
This, I know can be true.

I’m going in there in about 20 minutes. I might get a couple. Thanks for pointing them out.

You don’t seem to be able to try and expalin why Contador was booed today specifically which was the original question asked by Surrounded By Zulus.

“Do you think he deserved it?” – being booed at the end of today’s stage.

Maybe he did if, as has been suggested, the stage was shortened at the request of Saxo Bank as some may perceive it a tactical advantage for Contador over Nabalini but I can’t see it. They’ve both been going hard.

In my firm opinion, it has nothing to do with the ongoing doping issue else he would have been booed through out the race.

Can anybody explain why Contador was booed today but not any other day of the Giro?
If you’re convinced that he was booed today because he is a drugs cheat, why not any other day? Surely in that case, they’ve only heard about the questionable test today.
Are you sure it wasn’t because he’d just ended the Italian cycling fans hopes of their hero winning the Giro?
I didn’t know that Saxo Bank had been instrumental in the stage being shortened.

Giggles at Shandy. I haven’t been aware of Contador being booed at any other stage of the race. Have the Italians only just heard about the minute traces of a banned substnace in Contador’s sample then or could it be that Nabalini lost the stage and the race today?

Booing him because he beat the current Italian cycling idol in the current Italian cycling idols country when said idol had been looking to beat Contador only for Contador to then drop said current Italian cycling idol like he wasn’t trying and has probably ensured Contador takes the race?
No. I don’t think he did deserve to be booed.

Calm down Mrs. Where did anybody suggest they were “people who wear skin tight lycra in garish colours getting all fashionista”?
I only said they were awful things. Sheesh. What’s up with you mard arse?

Go Outdoors in Cheadle (not quite Manchester but right next door – I think they’ve opened a store near Parcel Farce / Ancoats) are virtually giving them away. In fact, I think they have a deal on them. Buy one pair, take the lot free. Awful things but they’re stocking them.
Actually, they may not be Bikesters. They may be the 1970’s running ones. I can’t tell the difference.

    Did I ever measure it?
Yes. I used the very scientific measurement of taking the nicely fitted with loads of room Nobby Nic off and put The Fat Eskar Tyre Of Too Much Girth on. It did my chain stays no good at all.
I’ve now got it on the front of the same bike where it is still The Fat Eskar Tyre Of Too Much Girth, Weight And Draginess.
I hate the thing and would rather ride round here on 1.5 City Slicks than this hideous thing.
It’s going in the classifieds as a freebie to collect as soon as I get something that does fit.
Mentally oversized? It did my head in when I realised it didn’t fit and I’d wasted £24;00.

If I can get hold of a replacement, you can have my almost brand new Specialized Eskar Control 2Bliss 2.3 tyre if you’d like it? It’s huge! my bike came with 2.4 Nobby Nic tyres but this supposedly 2.3 is too wide for the rear (it rubs on the stays) and only just goes under the arch of my Reba forks.
If you can collect if from South Manchester or Peak District area, you can have it for free. Hateful big fat bastard thing!

Yes please Sambob. I’m off long term and I’m very bored. I’m hoping to get out for a ride this comimg week with a regular of this website “cough”.

The sportive/hill climb site is excellent, thanks very much whos_daddy.
I’ll have a cheeky mid week daytime look at the off road out that way. Monks Road or Winnats Pass, James. If you had to do one, which would it be?

That’s interesting sambob. Thanks for the reply. I do a regular ride over there past Robin Hood’s Picking Rods, Lantern Pike, Middle Moor etc. but I didn’t realise there was off road to be had further over to Charlesworth. Is it any good?

I’ve just noticed what totalshell mentioned about brand new properties.
A brand new, not yet banded property will be apportioned an ‘Assumed Band’ until it is banded by VOA and as totalshell has noted, the 6 month appeal period begins when the VOA have valued it, not when the assumed band begins. C/tax becomes liable (well, the owner or occupier becomes liable) as soon as the building is signed off by the builders regardless of whether it is sold. occupied ect.

Edit. You could also do what Binners said. That would be well funny. If the inspector knocks on, kidnap him/her and lock him/her in the cellar. The fascist can’t increase your tax then although you would lose any 25% Single Person Discount if you currently have it although accomodating the servants in tents may mean the property is classed as HMO.

I’m right next door the Dark Peak hustler although I’ve done very little in the White Peak area. Mostly around Calver, Bakewell, Eyam and Chatsworth when I have been. Thanks for the reply.

    No worries, happy to help.
Cletus, if you’re in and he/she knocks on the door, let him/her in for coffee and biscuit if it’s convenient and you’re in the mood although you probably won’t even get a knock. If it can be done from the street, it will be. Always best to be nice to a person doing their job (unless it’s the bailff – feel free to be an arse with them). It won’t make any difference to the valuation and any subsequent rebanding.
VOA and council inspectors have the right to inspect the exterior of your property which can include peeping through the window if needed.
They have to knock to see if anybody is in first.
Most of the AGMA (Association of Greater Manchester Authorities) are embarking on a clampdown of fraud claims for Empty Property Discounts Class C exemptions (unocc/unfurn properties) and Single Person Discount. Lots of inspectors will be peering into properties round here.
If push comes to shove and they can’t tell from outside if the valuation needs to change and they can’t get access to the inside of the property, they’ll have a look at planning permission and building regs. reports etc. and along with what they can see, they’ll make a decision.
Appealing is very simple although it has to be done within 6 months of the change in banding. Give them a call or download the form from the website.
It’s not unheard of for a property to have been incorrecly banded either up or down well past the 6 month appeal period (right back to the beginning of council tax) but this is different to appealing. It’s a re-inspection. I’m not completely sure how that works – again speak to VOA. I deal in c/tax, specifically recovery, court and bailiff.

Catflees – It’s the Valuation Office Agency that your girlfriend needs to speak to, not the council.

I do this for my job (when I’m not off sick). Bung an email over if you like?
If the previous owners had band D for instance and then converted the garage into another room, the value and therefore the corresponding banding will increase but won’t take effect until the liability changes ie. somebody else purchases the property.
It’s the VOA who will reband it and they don’t need access to do it so there is no need for you to be there.
They’re not going to negotiate with you.
You can appeal any descision and bandings can go up as well as down. Changes in banding can be backdated. Quite often, they’ll spot another property in the area that may, in their opinion be incorrectly banded and the liable person(s) may very well receive a revised council tax bill.

I refuse to believe that in this day and age an adult gentleman would be childish enough to lie about someone’s past purely to create interest in a just released book to raise much needed income..

I have, as they say, fixed that for you.

Is this the same guy who claimed on his dog’s life that his naturally unobtainable blood measurements was caused by an unborn and previously undetected twin before he (they) were born and then realised “This is proper pissed, I better confess to doping like a junkie”? Yes, I do believe it is.

My position on it all is, I don’t know if he (Armstrong) did or not and I’m bored of the whole endless thing. For that reason, I’m out.

They must have had a late delivery at Lidl, Cheadle (Stockport) because they have got loads of everything available.
I was passing by at 7:00pm and called in.
It all looks horrible to be honest. I didn’t bother getting anything.

I’m thankful to the Middle Eastern guy who bought Man City.
I’m thankful to Roberto Maccinni for being Man. City’s manager.
I’m thankful for my consultant psychiatrist and the mental health nurses who keep me mentally health’d, pretty much on demand.
I’m thankful to the fundraisers who do a sterling job of ensuring my wife’s place of employment stays open and keeps us in the lifestyle to which we aspire.
I’m thankful that neither my wife, daughter or myself are in need of the services that my wife’s employer provides.
I’m thankful for the rain today that cut short my riding plans (I wasn’t in the mood for the planned ride)
I’m mostly thankful though that my wife is an absolute angel and deals with the heaps of catastrophes I can and do create on an all too regular basis with a calmness and quiet determination and that she loves me more than anything she ever could.
I’m going to have a little cry in a minute 😳

Winnats gets 8/10 (I get up that but it’s not one bit pretty and my face is doing yoga by the top), Mow Cop 9/10, Riber Castle from Matlock gets 9/10.
Nothing in the book around the Peak(s) gets 10/10.
Just had a quick flick through and Rosedale Chimney, North Yorks gets 10/10.
I’m surprised to see Holme Moss only getting a rating of 5/10 but then again, I’m more of a *sprinter than a climber.

*Cav need not have any concerns.

Sorry Rob, I’ve already done it numerous times. 34/25 gear at worst. I couldn’t tell you exactly how long it took but to be honest, it’s not a hard climb at all. It certainly wouldn’t be far off the time in the book by any means.
In fact, I’m road riding over to Chatsworth tomorrow. I’ll take a detour and do it and see how long.
Will you be around there about 2:00pm tomorrow by any small chance?

Thanks everybody. I’m still fizzing about this. Now with some anger mixed in as well to be honest but that will pass.
I have to say in retrospect, the police will not have any complaints from me. They can only act on the evidence they’re supplied with and they have been courteous and professional to me through out this nightmare.
I’ve promised my family that I absolutely wiil not get involved in any more bother, ever (not that I particularly invited this mess).
    That dancing dog is mint!
Now I can bask in the glory of the FA cup win.
Thanks again all for the advice and giggles. particularly the servong officers who were kind enough to advise me.

That is utterly dispicable! For what it’s worth, I’ll keep it in mind and have close looks at anything I see round here. South Manchester & Peak District.
