Yes. No problem. Even if it had bits hanging off it it would probably stand up to the green route.

Ankling. You either do it naturally or you don’t. Some websits advocates you do it purposefully. I wouldn’t.

I’ve only just seen this. ‘Kin ‘ell! Had you just sat on a drawing pin or something?

Down to the Bicycle Smithy (probably) to have some parts swapped on my wife’s cyclocross bike and no, that descent isn’t one of the best descents in the Peak District in my opinion but then again, it depends how big the list is allowed to be. It would be in my top 10 but not in my top 3.

“if this is the kind of resentment you feel for someone you’ve only ever encountered online…. “

But he’s only ever interacted with you online so he can’t really change the way he feels about you other than how he does, can he?

A nice idea Steve but they’re serial Llandegla’rers and the very first ride I took them on was Llandegla before it became a trail centre.
They love the former but hated the latter. I think it was the climb up to the Ponderosa and then the mast that killed it for them.
Sod it! They can do what ever colour they like, I’m doing the old route.

Balls! Thanks julians. We’ll be at Llandegla then. Bugger! Arse! Biscuits!

It’s a nightmare to get to and from from Manchester. Horrible train journey to Winchester, excellent day to Eastbourne B&B and then ride and/or train(s) to Euston for the horrible train journey back.
They don’t much like having bikes on trains down there.

I’ve done it twice. Both times Winchester to Eastbourne. It’s very cyclocross bikeable.

The black Dolan up there. It’s for sale. £500. I’d like to buy a Voodoo Limba.

Now now children, shake hands and make up.

The video still doesn’t do it justice. That path is mental on a bicycle. Excellent riding going on by that guy.

Coleman – Nice Giant! Nicky really likes her Giant (thank you again) but the top tube is a little high and a little long.
It’s probably going to get flat bars etc. that should sort the length out for her. I hope your son is enjoying his new build.
Mralexbenn. As above, we will probalbly have some near perfect condition 105 STI’s for sale soon for not much money at all.

Fank Yew Martyn. I agree, it should be done going up and the steps to the stream going down but he doesn’t know the area and he’s seen it on Youtube.

Thanks Stanley. Riding over from Marple to Picking Rods then toward Lantern Pike and then shooting Cabins. Is Twenty Trees the track down to the cottages on Kinder Rd or the the steep cobbled path down to the top end of Kinder Rd? Sorry, I don’t have a map to hand and I hate Street Map, Google Earth etc. on phone.
My mate has seen Twenty Tress as a descent on Youtube but hasn’t ridden it before. I’ve done all the bridleways round there in both directions but I’ve not known the names of them other than Middle Moor

I collect my new bike on Tuesday fingers crossed and I don’t really do group rides but if I rode the same route as you lot at the same time, would that be alright do you think?

Also, we’re out there tomorrow morning. Is Smithy Rd up to much as opposed to Grid Lane as a climb?

    monksie

Robin Hood’s Picking Rods, Middle Moor and Twenty Trees (as a descent – it’s been specifically requested) tomorrow although I’m not absolutely sure I know where Twenty Trees is.
Road ride early Sunday. Nothing daft as both rides will have to be done on the ‘cross bike.

I wish you’d rest your typing fingers. You sir, are the internet version of a gobshite.
The guy just asked a reasonable question prompted by a recent newsworthy event.

Living very close to a section of the Pennine Bridleway and riding a cyclocross bike, I personally wouldn’t fancy it over a few days on a cyclocross. Also, having done the Sarn Helen twice, I’d say the same. Not much fun on a ‘crosser after the first day.
The Cheshire Ring is perfect for a ‘cross bike but it’s 10 hours of deathly boring canal towpath.
The Transpennine Trail would fit the bill perfectly. Only a few sections in places where it gets a bit bouncy, some roads, some urban, a lot of rural…The Transpennine Trail is my suggestion.

Top notch service from Roger at Evans Cycles. My nuerotic and unwaranted panic is over. I should, fingers crossed, have my bike and be pedalling home from the store via a lengthy diversion through Hayfield on Tuesday.
    Thanks again Roger.

ps.it was ordered much later than I was aware so it’s well within the 14 days specified.

Hiya Roger! Thank you for getting in touch. I’ll nip to the loo again and check my email. My colleagues are worrying about me 🙂
edit: I’ve just hovered the cursor over the 14 day thing on the website and it does indeed say in stock at another store – will be recalled and sent the store I chose – mint!
Thanks loads Roger, I’ll give you a ring as soon as I get chance if that’s OK? Much appreciated.

I have Fulcum 7’s on my ‘cross bike. I’ve hit some rocky stuff hard enough to pinch flat..well, instantly burst to be honest and the rims are untouched.
It’s been used in the Peak District for stuff it’s not designed for but that’s because I don’t currently own a mountain bike.

Apologies. I assumed you’d already purchased a ‘cross bike and discoveresd that you didn’t like it.

I’m sitting here wondering why you bought a ‘cross bike to be honest. I see that you want to do some ‘cross racing and ride it on the road in the winter yet you don’t seem at all comfortable with riding it with road bike bars and you are clearly unhappy with canti’s.
Maybe a disc equipped flat bar road bike with slightly more than normal tyre clearance would have been a better bike for you?
Even a ‘cross bike with mechanical discs, fit a longer stem and flat bars. You could have sold the STI’s (assuming Tiagra level or better), bought flat bars, shifters and brake levers and probably still had a couple of quid profit.

I really tried to like my three Osprey packs including the Raptor 14 (large) but it was no use.
I found the rigid back uncomfortable and restrictive with regard to packing. The pack and bladder is heavy compared with others. The magnetic hose clip is a good idea but nothing new. The North Face has been using them (Hammerhead etc.) for years and you can buy three magnets to put on your hydration pack sternum strap for £5 from Outside in Hathersage (amongst other outlets), paired up with variouis models of Nalgalene bladders. It has two pockets for pumps? You what? It has pockets to put in what ever you like as doea just about every other hydration pack.
My Raptor fell apart at the seam (outer pocket).
I liked the Hydraulic aspect of the bladder but it needs the rigidity to work (I believe) and the ease of getting it in and out of the pack (again it needs the rigidity to achieve this) so the benefits to me were soon wasted.
The Lid Lock is genius in it’s simplicity but I very rarely used it.
Sorry Osprey, I’m not a fan.
Edit: I think you bought mine off of me didn’t you Geoff? Apologise if I’ve got that wrong, If I’ve got it right, I’m sorry you didn’t get on with it.

Also, have a search for the Manchester 100 route. It’s a great almost exclusive Cheshire ride and there is a 100 mile and 100 kilometre version.

Thanks for the suggestions. The HAWG is way too heavy though, The Octane is well worth a look as are the Decathlon packs. In fact, they’re very similar for just about a 3rd of the price.
    Excellent, thank you.

Oooh, right up my street, quite literally this :-).
From Marple, Offerton Green, Hazel Grove, Macclesfield Road, Prestbury village, Alderley Edge, Wilmslow, Knutsford, Delamere Forest follow the lanes back toward Altrincham, out toward Manchester Airport, back roads to Tatton Park, back the way you came to Marple.
I’m going out with a mate on Thursday for a road ride. His first in a few years (20 I believe but he can shift some on a mountain bike). He thinks we’re doing a Lyme Park gentle spin 🙂

Project. I’m more than aware where central Manchester nick is (being a local) and also that any bobby in there would have probably done verty little other than say “chuck the shits out” but thank you anyway, cocker.

I’m confused now. Who’s son, and who was going to kick off about kicking off in front of saome random not previously mentioned son?

Two shop working guys in Evans on Deansgate yesterday man handled some teenage scrotes out of the door. I’d have given each of those kids a boot up the arse as well.
I was there with my wife and daughter to try and buy a bike, not have to listen to the little gobshites mouthing off and generally being dickheads.
What would have been the better option Hora? Ask them ever so nicely to be not so rude and kindly apologise to all before exiting the store in a civilised manner?

    Thanks for the replies.
I didn’t say it was an alley because it isn’t.
We really like this house. Bugger.
Any reasonable solution as to how we can continue to use our bikes daily but cart them through the front door, hall, lounge, dining room, kitchen ans out into the garden without chucking mud, grime, grease and if tempers flare, swear words and stay married?
I’ve suggested a couple of Ground Effect Bodybags left by the front door but they need the front wheel taking off to get the bike(s) in.
ps. Scaredypants has it. That’s a ginnel.

A mate and myself did the lower end of Marple Lakes and Mellor Golf Club (in fact, we rode through a game of golf at one point) yesterday as well. Lovely weather, wasn’t it? Quite a few people out riding too.
