I’ve dragged an EBC trailer around in the Dark Peak just for the fun of it and I didn’t have to unhook it but I was pushing up places a lot more than normal. It’s certainly a world away from flat and even. I’m loving the thought of you chaps doing it and having the best time ever but I can’t help thinking it could be less than pleasent for the youngest. That reads as quite presumptious and condescending which absolutley isn’t my intention. It’ll be very tough going in places for any 11 year old but you know your offspring. You is still a top dad.

The PB through the Dark Peak takes in some of the honey pot Peak trails. Your younger youngsters might find 20 mile days through this area quite tough going. Real applause if they do it though. I’ve done it as far north as Mary Townley Loop. Well, the southern most end of MTL anyway.
The MTL has some steep bits which will have them pushing (I reckon) as well but if you’re having fun and you’re not in a rush, why not?
I wish you had of been my mum or dad 🙂
I’ve just read more of the thread.
Late spring would get my vote. You’d want the peak bits of the PB as dry as poss. and the MTL is awful in places when it’s proper muddy.
I’ve not done a C2C in England but you’ll know what you can and can’t do with a trailer. It will be hard going in places with it, even unloaded.

Not very much at all, if anything worthy of a mention. My mum would make a small effort. More out of guilt than anything.
This year, my daughter is getting a laptop, a TV, new electric bass guitar and amp and some little extra items that she likes.
She’s not getting the up dragging that I was subject to and hell, she LOVES me.

😳 That’s the one, thank you. Is the A44 suicidal or quite doable?

Does anybody know what the cycle from Abergavveny (sorry for the bobbins spelling) train station to the trail centre is like?

My wife (a smidge over 5′ tall) has the XS Giant ‘cross bike. Immaculate condition, 105 group, Kenda SB8 tyres etc. that she is going to sell any day now. She has the seatpost well down and the stem set with a + rise. If it was any bigger/longer, it’d be too big. £400 if anybody’s interested.

Hora, are you in Greater Manchester? Try http://www.getmetoasty.com/
I had a head full of broken biscuits when we were being briefed but all the Greater Manchester council staff were hauled in to be told about it, promote it at every opportunity blah, blah
I seem to remember you get a free survey, cavity wall if needed is free and loft insulation if needed is a maximum charge of £60.
I think AGMA (Association of Greater Manchester Authorities) underwrite it but get 10% more than the cost back fron central govt.

I’d be interested in this if that’s OK? I’ll ride over. By that point in the year, the miles will be doing me a favour. I can’t do Easter weekend though so I’ll bow out again if it’s then.

Flip! I’m sorry Buzz. I should have left it alone but the blanket love your parents / love your kids regardless comments **really** push my donkey buttons.
Sorry. Enjoy your Sunday. Now, Hill Reps.

“you owe your life to your parents no matter how much of a pain they can be.”

“No matter how annoying they can be you can only miss them. So grow up and appreciate them.”

Pretty much abandoned and left to fend for myself from the below even though she was still in the house most days by my mum. Taken by her when I was 14 for a week long trial at Luton FC but well and truly abandoned on the 4th day. Didn’t see or hear of her again until I was 29.

Battered, usually with a leather belt on twice or more weekly basis by him. 4 of us locked in a bedroom from Friday night to Monday morning without prior warning for even the slightest transgression by one of us mid week…..I could go on but it’s Sunday morning and I have some hill reps. to do.

I owe them nothing. I owe the Police and Social Sevices more. I didn’t ask to be born. I did ask to go into care though.

I will concede I need to grow up sometimes but “appreciate them”? I appreciate the two days they departed this mortal coil. A royal pair of bastards who were fortunate they didn’t go to prison for what they did to us and more so him. 69 years old and on bail awaiting trial at Manchester Crown Court for rape when he died. Only on bail because of his age and very poor health rendering him incapable of doing anyone any more harm.

Just saying…..it’s not all ‘love your parents, you’ll only have two” regardless. If you can’t stand the woman, don’t.

    Anyway, hill reps………….

Every bicycle I own gets a clean after each use, even the commuter on a daily basis. I also have a paved area edged with coping stones that lets the water run off directly into the drain.
I can live with the bike being mucky while it’s being used but I (genuinely) couldn’t put it away dirty and then relax unless I’m on a big ride and sleeping in a tent. It’s still on the same ride then so it’s OK.
I always wash them upside down though. Rubber mats under the contact points, mind.

That was a bit of an epic! 26.4 miles of horizontal rain. Key 103 news reader lady said there was a tornado in Stockport. I didn’t think it was that bad. Never mind, strike day tomorrow.

(*)Oh Contrair, I’m going to be at Loggerheads on my day off on Friday. Some ace riding round there, Moel Famau and other stuff….

Took the dog for a run in the woods, did a 40 mile Goyt Valley/Buxton ride on the ‘cross bike, picked my daughter up from her sleepover venue, painted the garden door frame, painted the bathroom radiator, went to Man. City’s club shop for a few xmas pressie’s, now monging on the internet while I’m waiting to see if I win the road frame I’m bidding on.
Another jog in the woods with the dog this evening and then MotD and bed.
I’ve only just heard about Gary Speed. Flippin ‘ell.

My wife is chairing a ward(s) meeting today so she can listen to how the nurses and “idiot dr’s” think it should be done.
Then she’s going to tell them how they are going to do it.
She also has been on management courses.

Semi liquidised charcoal (or close derivative). Happily (in as much you can be happy in these situations), I wasn’t aware of it until afterwards. That was bad enough though.

    Mellor.
Actually, you might struggle to get three bedrooms for 150k in Mellor unless it’s a very small three bedroom cottage type thing.
    Lovely place.

“Therefore we feel frustrated by the lack of communication (and lack of ‘oops, I’m sorry, my mistake’) other road users engage with us. In some people, this frustration builds up into physical anger.”

That is the very thing! I think somebody suggested it up there ^.

“..the work had been specified by a “mountain biker” “

For all users to…well, use really. I bet he would have liked to have narrowed it in to 4″ wide singletrack, chuck large amounts of rocks and roots around, a couple of drop offs etc. but I bet he also likes keeping his position of employment and all the benefits that go with it.

Not much at all really. Riding in to a strong headwind, battering it because I’m late or trying to catch up with somebody or going down hill or quickly round bends is pretty much it for me.

Attempted it twice, done it once.
It’s a hard ride and quite hard to navigate.
I did it in three and a half days.

I’m doing it again in May next year.

J Cole. If it’s anything like Tinie Tempah at the M.E.N on Monday and Whizz Kalifer at the Appollo on Tuesday, it will be peroxide blonde early twenties females wearing less than normal sized underwear and nothing else and stilleto shoes trying to stay upright on the arm of a similar or older aged black bloke wearing trousers with the waistband round his hamstrings, a baseball cap about to fall of his head and wearing sunglasses even though it’s dark. They both seem to refer to people (and one couple at one point addressed me directly) as **** Boy and Bitch.
    My word!
Not sharp elbows at all, sadly. They are a very meek and polite pair of **** Bitches (just keeping up the vibe).

Thank you people. Much appreciated. I’m going to give Reviled Sheffield the chance to change my opnion of it. Previous experiences have not been good.
I don’t think they can get a bus from down town Stockport to Sheffield but thanks anyway Sancho.
Tpt – what a day that was.
