I’ll put back some of the stuff I deleted yesterday as it now seems relevant.

My wife cannot financially disassociate herself from me while we’re still married, living at the same property etc.

The term vulnerable is defined differently by a a whole heap of instituitions, authorities etc. I could, if I qualified for attendance allowance or other similar benefit, be disregarded for council tax as Severley Mentally Impaired (SMI) and my wife would be sole liable and get a 25% discount. I work 5 days a week for a LA in the Court and Bailiff dept. recovering unpaid council tax. Bonkers. Psychie would say I’m vulnerable on occasion I suppose.

My bank, credit card company and I dare say if I applied, Wonga would be more than happy to lend me money. Indeed, a major bank was lending me enough money to buy a small house on the edge of the Peak District two years ago. I ommitted to mention it to my wife though. Luckily, she found out before I’d spent huge amounts of money.

I went for a ride on my bike to buy something with my credit card 7 miles up the road. I came home in absolute bits, more by luck than design 10 days later having spent the best part of 2K on my card in and around the borders of Scotland (250 miles away).

My wife begged the credit card company to close my card. They wouldn’t really speak to her about it. Nope. Debt always gets paid with a bit of interest. Good business for them. Bad for me. I had to sell my Willier to pay for that holiday. Credit card account is now closed by me. I loved that bike.

Power of Attorney is possible but it freaks me out. Sometimes, my biggest weapon against this is clinging on to the fact that I have to beat this. Giving up on that would allow me to give up altogether.

If you’re reading this Gaz, yes, you’re right. Shit up bringing, neice and nephew died in a fire, homeless for a while, two suicide attempts, nearly turned inside out by a big machine, lymphoma and at last a diagnosis for the way my head works probably does make me the unluckiest b*****d you’ve ever met but you don’t need to tell me every time you see me.

Sorry, I got a bit personal at the end. I get didactic. It’s a symptom and I don’t feel so good right now. Probs. delete all that in a minute anyway.

“lance armstrong said 1lb equals an extra minute on a 10k hill”

Evidence if ever it was needed! His ability, 1 whole pound of weight, 60 seconds saved going up a 10 kilometre hill

It’s 400 grams. That’s not going to quadruple because it’s rotating.
Think about 400 grams added or taken away with reference to the god knows how many grams you and the rest of your bike and, if you pack a bag with enough stuff to survive a polar expedition every time you go out for a pedal, the rucksack on your back.
Notice it? I’d have thought so. Probably mostly if not only when you are accelerating and going up hill (micro accelerations slightly more pronounced going up hill than on the flat with each pedal stroke – no, you pedalling circles clipped in isn’t applying absolute equal power)
Make any difference? Not in the great scale of things unless your ride is 2 minutes long and all up hill.

It was very wet, cold and desereted yesterday. I didn’t see another person on a mountain bike between South Head and Lockerbrook.
Specialized Fast Track where not the best option but I also fit tyres and only take them off when they’re used up.
Snake Pass was shut to motor vehicles but was open to me on my hardtail.
It was a horrible day of cycling to be honest.

It’ll be right agent. It’s warming up nicely now.
I’m doing an all day Dark Peak ride on Friday, where ever the wind takes me really, no definate route planned and I’m going to have a look at the White Peak on Monday. I hardly know the White Peak off road.

Not quite turned out completely well to be honest. A frosty atmosphere, mumblings about “Always bleedin’ somethin’ going on with that idiot” and snipey “You better say that twice to be sure he heard you!” comments.

“he’s got 6 acres of woodland, can you imagine what we could do with that?
    Landfill!
Monksie! Fire Up The Wheelie Bin!”

    Hahaha! Mint!

I’m going to take my wheelie bin for a walk along the Goyt in a bit. That’ll get Frank the Plank and quite possibly my betroved into headache orbit and my daughter in hysterics!

A guy from the council has just been.
    Him: “It’s been reported….”
Me: “Yes, I did but I didn’t really think of it as fly tipping”
    H: “What were you dumping?”
M: “Crappy turf and the soil attached to it from the garden”
    H: “Nothing else?”
M: “No, Nothing. I’m a tree hugging cyclist. I care about the woods and stuff….”
H: “Where did you dump it?”
M: “Various locations over the banking behind the school”
    H: “That area is massive!”
    M: “I know….sorry”
H: “No Bother. I can’t see the harm in a bit of grass and soil on top of grass and soil”
    M: “Ah. Mint!”
H: Bit of small talk about the weather.
M: Bit of small talk back
    H: “Bye”
    M: “See ya”
My heart rate was up a bit though. I’ll not be doing it again.
I know nothing of seagulls or whizz and all that stuff. Oddballs!

You’re not helping me to relax, not one bit.

I’m going to say sorry, cry a bit and stare in to space. It get’s my teenage daughter off every time.

The wife’s doing her nut as well now. Apparently, she told me not to do it last night. I don’t remember.

I’m off now. My final statement? Shit!

I saw him passtheriz….. but I just though it was my paranoia again.
I’m going to have to get the meds. out and plead insanity again.
I really didn’t think I was doing anything wrong. Bugger! I hate gardening anyway. I’m taking the advice of my learned friend Solo, as above.
“put the neighbour in the bin as well and bury him under the grass and soil” and leave his face on show? That’s put that new thing in Newcastle to proper shame….
Callum! How the devil are you?

I offered to shape it in to a Mancunia living lansdcape sculpture, he mumbled something about an idiot.
I must be more off it than I thought. This is just grass and soil on top of grass and soil! I didn’t think for one minute it is fly tipping.
    Furk! Am I in trouble?
Goyt Valley Way…..which on paper sounds worse than it is. Stockport end. No daffs were injured in the innocent redistribution of soid and turf.

I have a Diamondback Furbar £140 plus postage. Sunn Rhino rims, Race Face Good’n’Evil grips, Maxxis tyres….all the good stuff and in full working order.
I had a rear brake fitted to go with the front.
Full working oirder and very good condition.
My email is in my profile if it’s of interest.

We moved back to Stockport, Hoops lives here, I really miss Auckland.

Kisses and hugs big boy. I’ll have a look on the way to Ladybower on Saturday if that’s any good? Otherwise, I know a man who can sell you a new one…….

Spending the best part of today in the loony bin waiting to see the duty psychiatrict consultantperson (I promised my wife I wouldn’t self discharge until I’ve been seen – I feel OK now but a promise is a promise) and then probably going to bed until god knowns when.
No riding anyway. I fell off my bike on Wednesday and cracked some ribs.

After all that, I came off in the park this morning and whacked myself all down my left side.
Specialzed Fast Track 2Bliss tyres don’t like slightly damp tarmac on left hand cambers.
Busted a few bits of me. Carbon Crank Bros bars, SLR saddle, foam grip, Skins bibs, Specialized helmet…..bugger!
I’m very grateful for the Specialzed helmet. It’s well and truly doomed now.
I was going up to Settle. Booked and paid for the train ticket.

I have to not be in the house this weekend by my own violition.
No car and very limited funds is wife’s insistence. I’ve done this a few times but an overnighter that turned into 10 days in Scotland and a melted credit card…..the family are nervous.
I don’t drink and neither love nor money would get a female dancing on my lap, trust me 🙂 “Bris-vegas and go supersize” – Mint!

Thanks for the suggestions scu98rkr. I’ve ridden to and around both Cannock Chase (admitedly only Follow the Dog though), I didn’t like it and Llandegla (not since the new’er stuff opened) – I did prefer the natural rather than man made over there.
I could give Cannock another go. Ride down, camp, do the Monkey one and get the train back…hmmm. Delamere is a regular cake stop on a Chester and back road ride but it has woken my brain up to maybe a wild camp at Loggerheads Country Park. Moel Fammuaaua etc.

Thanks all for the suggestions so far.

Nettles. Just realised. It was Gloucester. I stopped for a Maccy D’s, got shouted at for walking my bike and trailer through the shopping centre by a traffic warden or some such and somebody tried nicking the bag off the trailer when I stopped at some traffic lights. Very Adswood but not quite Poynton 🙂

Awww, thanks Nettles. Don’t worry about not being home, I’ll bring a teddy and cuddle that instead. It’ll be dark, I’ll kid myself it’s you 🙂
Is ‘Nam Cheltenham? I went through there on my way to Bristol. Yuk! Makes Mesey Square look cosmopolitan.
I’ll go and check train details.

£50 (hopefully) for everything. I can’t do much damage with £50.
Windermere you say? Road ride around the lake on Saturday and then ride home on Sunday? That could be a goe’er, thanks.
Another good idea by Titusrider, thanks.

Shouting at the guy? Seriously bitch? Well done for doing something but shouting? I’m surprised phone stealing guy didn’t giggle.
Take the phone off him, go and get the guard before the train stops, phone the police, stop the guy getting off, stand in the way of the bike….don’t stand there on an empty train and just shout at him.

Just remembered, the A6 relief road finally got the green light late last year. It joins up with the A34 out toward Cheadle Hulme/ Bramhall’ish.
That may or may not have an effect on your prospective move but it would come up on your pre purchase search wouldn’t it?
Am I the only person round here who doesn’t dislike riding a bike on the A6?
As for Stockport being flat? The only flat way out of the town is via the River Mersey.

    monksie

Based on your above definitive criteria, you definatley need to be looking around Cheadle Hulme, Stockport. I’d even pin point in down to Acre Lane area. Honestly. That would be my recommendation 🙂
ps. Marple isn’t a village. Neither is Hazel Grove. They might have been once but so was everywhere (except Milton Keynes).

Sorry for the essay Chakaping. Cheadle Hulme is very nice. As you’re probably aware, house prices are above average for the town but not through the roof. M60 is quite close but not too close. Good rail link into Manchester or out to Macc. Nice riding toward Lyme Park (which is gorgeous) and into the Peaks. Nice parks (Bruntwood Park is lovely), goood schools, shopping. Yes, a nice neighbourhood.
Good luck with the house hunting and the move.

Do you mean Ack Lane (east and west)? Nice area. Part Bramhall, part Cheadle Hulme.

As Stockport appears to the centre of attention, may I step in with an opinion or two as a lifelong resident?
Anywhere in Stockport is rideable to the Peak District and commuteable into Manchester although the roads are slow and the trains packed for office hours start and finish times.
Cheadle Hulme is nice. Good rep. from the high school. Not too much bother at all from the airport.
Heaton Moor, Heaton Chapel and Heaton Mersey are quite expensive. North side of the town and nice.
Bramhall is nice, can be expensive unless you look around the Midland Rd area. A large council estate. Bramhall High School is also doing rather well in the league tables I believe.
Heald Green is nice but the flightpath really is a nuisance there (wife works in H/Green) but I’m told you get used to it. Gatley is OK but butts up against Wythenshawe.
I’d stay well away from the following:
    Reddish (North and South)
    Heaton Norris
    Portwood
    Brinnington
    Bredbury
    Cheadle Heath
    SK1 parts of Offerton
    Adswood
    Bridge Hall
    Davenport.
    Woodsmoor is very nice.
    Woodley and Romiley ate OK
    Compstall is awful
Great Moor/Stepping Hill is pretty nice and quite cheap.
Hazel Grove, away from the A6 and the Valley estate is good.
High Lane is lovely but expensive.
Disley isn’t so nice (is mainly Cheshire East council rather than Stockport, as is Poynton).
Marple can be a bit good/bit bad. Rose Hill and Waterside council estates are getting worse. Marple Hall School (daughter attends) is a language college, is considering becoming an academy and the new’ish head has big ambitions and is refreshingly seeing them through.
Marple has a few sub areas within it. I’ve lived there. I’d only consider the Marple Bridge, Hawk Green or Strines areas to live. The Peak District is a few miles up the road or over a couple of hills. Mini Peak District riding on the doorstep. Travel into Manchester from here is a trial.
Myhouse buying money would go to…..Mellor. Beautiful area. On the very edge of Cheshire (Stockport) and Derbyshire. The only part of Stockport that comes close to being a village. Great primary schools, school buses to Marple Hall, great riding on and off road. Properly countryfide 🙂
Stockport town centre is awful. Highest number of vacant shops in the country – 30% empty and worsening.
    Sorry, got carried away.
