Evans will get any of their stock in for a £50 fully refundable, no quibble deposit and they’ll let you test ride it as well.
I was trying out a Colnago for half an hour on my own. No pressure, no hassle and instant refund of my £50 when I finally decided it wasn’t for me.

Spoonie. Get the 105 Super Six. It’s lovely. I’ve no problem at all with the cables where they should be (hidden under the bar tape)
What size is your ‘dale? It could be right up my street (well, it could be in my cellar and then up my street etc.)
I seem to be having some problems getting a back up bike.

I always get excellent service, good prices and a laugh (often at my expense but it’s a fair cop) at Bicycle Smithy in Hazel Grove.

I love it ds. It’s even better than my Willier Izoard and I was guttted when I had to sell that. It’s feels ‘smoother’ but stiffer. I can’t really explain it any better than that.
I ordered and paid for the 2011 model at £1500 but they (Paul’s Cycles) had mistakenly sold 5 while they only had 4 in stock. I was number 5 so I got the 2012. Mint!

1 pence short of £1500 although it was £500 cheaper than rrp.

Royal Vale gets a good review. Does it have to be near to Tatton Park? If my criteria was a posh country house and gardens and then a day in Manchester, I’d be camping near Chatsworth and getting the train in to Manchester somewhere on the Sheff/Manchester line.
Tatton really isn’t all that good (or maybe hundred of visits when the off spring was younger has jaded me).

Still here, still training. It all went quiet for a bit but now it’s getting going again.
More radio, internet and newpaper stuff.
Louis Garneau red and black cycling jersey has been added to the prize draw.
The logistics are now being put into place. Twitter will be updated during the ride with location and timings etc. so if anybody would like to come out and do a few miles with me, that would be lovely.
    Ps. where’s Crikey gone?

I’m going to throw this Bryton Rider 50 GPS at a wall in a minute!
I’d seriously consider Crazy leg’s latter option over Cut Gate in the wet or dry. That’d be a good ride.

I only bought my first GPS yesterday mate, sorry.
The above is a ride I do when I’m out for the day from Stockport. It has a bit of road, canal towpath and converted railway line as a means to an end to get to some of the Dark Peak’s finest.
I’ll see if I can plot something together from Macc. Forest. I prefer Mam Tor and Roych Clough to Jacobs Ladder to get to Hayfield.

It is definitley a good ride and a long ride. I’ve never really got the awe that Cut Gate seems to provoke on this message board and it’s an area that does seem to hold on to the water. It’s peeing down at the moment and it’s not going to do much stopping right up and through the weekend according to forcasts.
I’d be looking at doing a Macc. Forest, Goyt Valley, Buxton, Perry Foot, Hope, Edale, Hayfield, Macc. Forest day out instead. Boggy peat moorland in the chucking down rain? Not my cup of tea.

Just a quick mention. I have just bought a Bryton Rider 50. I wished I’d paid more and got a Garmin.

Do I ever feel freakily powerful and strong?
Frequently but I am rapid cycling bipolar (and no, that doesn’t mean we both get there very quickly by bike although it is is bit funny, even after all this time).

Doing the route more than once in the same ride adds to the challenge. A significant part of this is mental.
I’m riding London to Manchester in 13 hours (I hope) in July. Toward the end of it, I know I’ll be struggling but being able to focus on the distance going past and knowing I won’t have to look at it (the same bit of road) again will help. A small but very helpful mental stimulus. Imagine being knackered and knowing you have to do the same thing again. You really have to dig mentally deep when you’re wiped out and it’s the same scenery.

I love this kind of stuff, more so because it’s on the same route repeated.
I know he won’t have the slightest inkling of this but I wish him the very best in his attempt. It’s a tough day out doing it in one direction.
    Go on fella!

    edited because I can’t believe I put that much effort in;

    The salient point:

“I’m in love with a married man”

That thing that keeps you upright. Back bone. That’s the one. Put it to use.

    Seriously bitch. Get. A. Grip.

Jon at Bike Smithy is double mint (I have soemthing I need to speak to Jion about but I can’t remember what it is). If he’s too busy, North West Mountain Bikes are very good mechanics. They’ve always been nice to me.
Sportive Nation opposite Hazel Grove police station is now open but I’ve no experience. The Bike Shop in Marple and Wills Wheels in Heaton Moor. Again, no expericence. Decathlon might be an option. Freeride in Disley? I’ve not been. You can get the train virtually to the door. Same as Bike Factory in Whaley Bridge.
Rick Green in Handforth? Train station is very close.
Edit; What BB is it that you need? I think I have a spare you can have unless it’s been given away already? I can’t check until 7’ish tonight though. I’m in the sunshine state of Stockport as well. chuck an email to steve.monks@gmail.comif you like and I’ll see what I can do this evening.
I’m on Internet fascist monitoring at work so I can’t get back to this thread until mid afternoon.

I asked my brother. He’s not a solicitor. He is a career criminal. He says your brother is doing bird, no question. Depends on the mood of the judge how long he gets. Magistrates will probably pass it on. Sorry.

    Please excuse the dodgy positioning of the mixer tap and the radio has been moved to a less hazardous place;

Vaseline (Not Assos Minty Arse Lard) smeared above your eyebrows and slightly to the side of your eyes.
    Just a smear mind.
Works wonders, doesn’t look daft, costs pennies.

Hideous wasn’t it? A 100 mile Cheshire road ride. I was on for an 18mph solo century until I got to Frodsham on the way back.

I’m not doing it on that fixie bike in the picture though 🙂
Just a quick bump to let you all know I’m still here, still alive, still pedalling and still trying to get to £1000

I didn’t explain it very well. Sorry.
I got the bike last week, brand new and the front mech STi was perfect. One click to go up, one click to go down. One hurried and hamfisted shift up on to the big ring at the weekend and now it has a middle click up and down in between shifting and nothing happens. The shifting on to the big ring is no longer crisp and clean. Quite noisy and rubbish in fact.

Have a search for Pootle threads on here. I’m sure he was involved in some of them. The guys also involved will no doubt be able to reassure you and maybe even give you some contact details.
I’m amazed some times by the stuff I retain in my head.
I’m sure he’s not a baddy (apologies again to Lyons if you aren’t a Pootle person and you are a baddy).

I seem to remember loads of people saying he’s a lovely bloke, handsome, sophisticated, charming, witty, good at sex but properly rubbish at posting stuff.
I don’t think he was a rip off merchant (apologies to Lyons if you are).

I did then go to the cafe in Edale for another coffee and 20 minutes admiring my new road bike (I really like it) but it was the Edale Film Festival this weekend and the place was rammed.
I used to like the old girl in there. She could take a bit of verbal abuse as well as hand it out. Also, there was a lovely young lady who used to work there.

I had the misfortune of being at the Woodbine yesterday. I didn’t realise it was going to be a misfortune.
I only wanted a coffee so I could sit in the sun and admire my new road bike for a bit.
I made the mistake of only buying a (crap) coffee (with only one of those teeny cartons of milk allowed) and not food as well it would seem.
I’m giving the place a miss from now on.

I’m back! Thanks for the bumps, good wishes, donations, loves and cuddles.
I’ve been a little preocupied with buying a new bike which is currently ‘out for delivery’ – picture to follow, watching my team in a world of win and riding the bikes I still own.
The training has nosedived over the last 10 days apart from extended commutes and a train ride up to Windermere and a ride home again.
Just to recap where it’s all up to.
Total raised so far is £655.00 – mint!
The generousity of people is astonishing.
The route is as yet still undecided.
Stockport Express, Manchester Evening News, Stockport Council and St. Ann’s Hospice have all the info they require to put it all in print and on websites. A patron of the hospice who is ‘in’ radio will be giving it some plugs.
I need to get some huge training rides in.
    Raffle prizes so far are:
    TV
Days coaching with Jedi at UK Bike Skills http://www.ukbikeskills.co.uk/ (already won by IHN in a seperate sale)
A lovely pink union jack hand made bag beautifully donated by Bunnyhop at http://emmyjane-design.blogspot.co.uk/
A pink Rapha t-shirt in size large
    Cateye Strada wireless computer
