You may or may not know that when you get up to the grit bin on the left on Winnats, you’ve still got a long world of pain to go.

I’ve done the 100 mile Cheshire Ring a couple of times. It took around 11 hours both times but they were at either end of summer. Not the best time to do it because of the walkers.
I’d say do it late Feb or early March and take lights. You can get a good pace going with a clear run. Especially early in the day. Nobondy seems to want toget the dog muddy before work but they’re not bothered after work. Take a radio or Ipod. Hells teeth it’s a boring bike ride. I can’t imagine any other canal has much to keep you occupied.

    b) The “false” food makes you feel full, and then when you body realises its been tricked tells you to eat more to comepensate.”
Yes, that’s right. That’ll learn you. Your body hates you a little more every time you do that.

    c) If you manage to resist the outcome of b), your body goes into starvation mode and starts to store fat as an emergency measure.” Claxons going off and everything but they’re inside you so you can’t hear them.

    You’re funny. I like you.

Cafe at the National Football Museum.

If I can get a train home again (getting there is easy enough – pedal) I’ll come along if that’s OK?

Well, the hospice got just over £1500 with gift aid included and as the vast majority of it was donated by the members of this forum, I’ll take this opportunity to say a massive thank you again to everybody who donated and my apologies if I misled anybody (without intent) in not realising that Just Giving got some of the money.

Bollocks! Jamie has it. I forgot about the weight saving following a fart.

1459 kcal. per 24 hours. I’ve just worked it out for you…it was dead easy. It’s not one bit variable. Homeostasis? Forget it. I just thought of a number and boom!
    Wanna buy some diet pils?

Now for the serious answer. There are far too many variables from one minute to the next to get one magical number. Even if you worked it out so that your temperature, heart rate, sympathetic nervous system blah, blah were all constant, what if the wind was blowing behind you when you parked the car and walked up the drive but you based your calculations on a head wind? Arse! No weight loss today then?

Shit! I’m now doing my best not to get dragged to Manchester’s Albert Square to join in the world record attempt at the most people doing that gangster style dance thing all at the same time.
    Bollocks to THAT!

What are s/s flat bars and what are s/s drops?
What are you getting over the bottom bracket exactly?
Can’t you just stick your head further forward to get ‘it’ more over the bottom bracket?
Do you find that you over think lots of things in your life?
    You’re funny.

He’s joking Peachos. He’s referring to a lovely chap who lives up the road and frequents this forum.
Your mate will know but keeping a look out around the Vale, Debdale, 3 Sisters and the back of Essex Rd could be well worth it.

He’s asking why you did, not what did you do.
    Comprehension boys, comprehension.

If it’s not chucking it down, we’re going to sit on top of Eccles Pike with a bottle of wine for the wife, a bottle of WKD for my daughter, a bottle of orange juice for me and water for the dog and stick two fingers each up to the arse end of 2012 and wave hello to 2013.
A year that we’d like to but sadly won’t completely forget.

I work in Reddish at least twice a week and I have the pleasure of dealing with the less than salubrious members of the Gorton and Reddish communities.
    I’ll keep them in mind.

If it’s your first time with the group, I very much doubt they’ll want you anywhere near the front. The best advice is let them know, if you haven’t already that you’re new to it all. Somebody will look after you until you get the hang of it.
Next bit of good advice is don’t call it ‘darkside’.

    You’ll be wanting waders then.

LeJog over 4 days (cos I idiotically said I would part way through my London to Manchester day out)
Sarn Helen in 3 ( cos I love that ride and my pb is 3.5 days)
Edinburgh to London in less than 36 hours (for St. Ann’s Hospice)
Twin Towers.(Blackpool to Paris) in as long as it takes (for St.Ann’s Hospice)
Binning the Divide until 2014. I think I’ll be knackered enough (and I’m scared).

A Starbucks hopefully. I can never get a seat in the Costa up the road.

    What Richpips said.

How is being depressed while on your bike making you slow? I don’t understand that bit.
As for being fitter and going faster – ride more and ride faster. Little by little though. It will come as far as it will.

Getting into and out of Manchester by road around rush hour (why do they call it rush hour?) on any route is horrendous.

92% of owners who purchased one from Wiggle would say otherwise. 8% of their purchasers of the product are cack handed fops (probably).

I iz confoozed…..you’ll be out having dinner with her and you’re going to ask her out?
    What?
    Out for a fight?
    You’re already ‘out’ with her.
See what you said up there ^. “I’m 27, she is 25…”. Be that! Just tell her in a sincere but not overly intense way that you have developed an attraction and feelings for her that are beyond that of ‘friendship’. If you don’t want to bollocks it up completely, tell her quickly that you’ll understaand and be perfectly fine if she doesn’t have the same sort of feelings for you. Save the wailing for when you’re back home on your own.

If I can get my head around it I’m doing the Tour Divide route. Not as part of the race though. I’m leaving my current job in August 2013 (if not before) and my family are happy for me to do it then. There’s just me to persuade that it’s going to happen now.
I’m having a proper ponder about these packs now. My initial thoughts were that they were over designed nonsense. The bulb thing looks odd. The whole concept was beyond me. Just suck! Now I’m coming round to it quite a bit.

My wife has a leather bound note book in which she occasionally makes a note about how she feels, what she’s thinking, what she’s seen, what’s been said, what should have been said..
Because of her work, she witnesses a lot of raw and profound emotion and it’s important to her to have it all written down in case something happens to her so our daughter and I will have it.
She’s made us promise to only read it when she has died (assuming we’re still here).
I won’t ever read it though.

If the rides being binners’ed (see what I did?), could somebody please kindly give me a shout before 11 o’clock this evening?
I’m in China Town in Manchester tonight and I’m leaving the ‘do’ to be home by midnight so I can start pedalling my way down around 1:00am.
It’ll be a right laugh (for you lot) not to tell me but I’d probably sulk a bit….
