I’ve spent a lot of time with loads of them but sadly they’re real (and mostly nice) people. I work with two but they don’t know that I know.
That reminds me. I got my current job through a very nice forum member to whom I owe coffee and cake……or a few choice words….the jury is out 🙂

Drac. I hate it when people do this but I’ll have to do it…genuine lol 🙂

You can have me on any one of my Cannondales if you like?
More realistically, you can borrow a SuperSix, Caad 8, Caadx or Flash (lefty fork might catch their interest).

Arse! Wrong Sunday. It’s the one after. Still welcome though.

I’m in Marple. A home to Hathersage and back ride next Sunday is planned. A couple of ladies from work are tagging along so it won’t be fast one while they’re riding. I think they’re planning on turning back at South Head.
    Join in if you like.

I have manic depression. I’ve been married for 19 years. My wife has left me twice because of it. There is no easy way to do it. She just tells me she can’t cope anymore. Fortunately she has come back both times although I’m sure she won’t if there’s a third time.
There is no good time to walk away.

4 road night rides per week. 3 are my commute home from Trafford Park to Marple and 1 is a group ride with colleagues. The 5th ride is a rather boring off road ride home along the Mersey. If anybody has a more interesting off road route, I’d be very interested.

The JMC tribute thing on Woodhead is a little bit obsessive though, isn’t it?

The acceptee won’t be accepting the like again and if I’d been there when the fat head bafoon had tried to hand them in, he’d have been inpolitely advised to the contrary 🙂

    monksie

Nope. They’re in the (shop) bin. I put them there after a colleague accepted them in an appalling state from the bafoon customer.

    Not. My. Shorts.

Not my shorts.. If they’d been handed to me in the state they were in, I’d have refused to accept them. The customer is a bafoon and is now on ‘The List’ 🙂

No thoughts for the poor sap who has handle the rank, sodden item out of the carrier bag and search and inspect for the unstitched seam?

Clearly the bike shop have to replace the bike, not the customer via his insurance. A bit obvious really.

    Made up story, I reckon.

Suspend the staff? Don’t be daft!

Send me an email. There is no email address in your profile. I might be able to help you out with 3.5 Madone (a great bike with a lifetime frame guarantee).

There are various off road and urban routes out of South Manchester into Stockport and onto the Peak District. Be creative and you can get a decent ride without going near a car or train.

I’ve just seen that you’re in Rusholme. Fallowfield Loop to Reddish, Reddish Vale, Gas works, Vernon Park, Woodbank Park, Offerton Woods, Chadkirk, Marple, Mellor, Birch Vale Hayfield, Edale, Ladybower……the world 🙂

I’m riding there in about 20 minutes Scaled. I’ll race you from Lakes Road to Mellor Cross if you like? I’ll be on a white Cannondale Flash doing yoga with my face.

He was advised by his solicitor to get his affairs in order just in case he was sent down. I believe he lost his job as well. It was a very slow speed ram. I was stationary. He was and then turned the steering wheel, drove forward and pushed me into the side of the bus.
At the time, prison would have been adequate enough but a few weeks later when I’d calmed down, it seemed harsh. By the time it went to court I’d calmed down enough to feel that his punishment was severe. The driving ban was a bitter blow for him I believe.
A normally completely calm and considered person by all accounts who lost the plot on this one occasion.

Totally did the right thing in reporting it. This is assault with a deadly weapon. Sadly nothing will happen. The moment you say you were on a bike the police will lose interest and stare at the ceiling. However, go through the motions, it’s important to get it registered.

The guy who rammed me and my bike into the side of a bus in Portwood, Stockport got a 2 year ban, £750 fine and 80 hours community service.

You had a ‘look’ on your face and a manic half grin, chasing down a large group of riders who you’d just held the gate open for.
    I liked it 🙂

Why didn’t you call the activity centre? Especially as you hadn’t heard back from the school? Being as your son was at an outdoor activity centre, you were clearly more than aware he would be, it is safe to assume as he was actually there and not sat at home on an x box et.al. be participating in some adventurous, indeed ‘risky’ activity while he was there.
I have no idea about watersports and the centre’s decision to carry on with the activity in the conditions you describe may very well have been at best, foolhardy but ultimately the proof is in the pudding.
Is your son OK? Did he feel overly anxious before during or after the activity more than he would have in more placid conditions (bearing in mind he was participating in adventue holiday ‘cos that’s what this was)? Did he enjoy himself?
Sorry. I’m not having a go but (admittedly being ignorant of the conditions and possible dangers), it does have a whiff of adventure without risk which is pretty pointless, isn’t it?
Sorry. Just my take on it.

Edale Rd / Mam Nick. Down Winnats. Straight on to Bamford, Yorkshire Bridge, right on A57 at the bottom of Snake Pass toward
Sheffield. Turn left for Strines. Out of Strines and left toward Woodhead, right for Holme Moss. Up and down Holme Moss and back onto Woodhead. lanes to Glossop. Up Chunal. Through Hayfield to Chapel en le Frith. Up Rushup Edge and back down to Edale.
Not having a compact will be a problem if they can’t pedal what they have ( daft question gets a daft answer )
Probably not 100k Nice cafe in Hayfield. It’s the Peak District. Views are compulsory.
Just had a thought. Go right In Hayfield and on to the a6 at New Mils. Left to Whalley Bridge. straight on for Long Hill and Buxton and then back to Chapel or go right in the centre of Whalley Bridge and go over Taxal Edge in to Goyt Valley. Straight on to Macclesfield and then back to Buxton over Cat & Fiddle. Then back to Chapel etc.
Apologies for rubbish typing. I’m on a very bumpy train and typing on my phone.
When is this ride and can I come? I quite fancy that myself and I’m just down the road in Stockport. We could detour to the cycling cafe in Romiley.
Actually. I’ve had a think. Sod that! Have you seen that route? Nutters!

I use the TPT from Stockport Pyramid to the Trafford Centre on a very regular basis and I’ve not had a minutes trouble from anybody and my mountain and ‘cross bikes are rather expensive.
You could have somebody jump out at you with a knife on the next main road you ride down.
Get it ridden! Stockport to Leeds? Sounds like it could be a good day out.

Thank you everybody. Much appreciated. I submitted applications to both Leisure Lakes and Merlin at the weekend. Fingers crossed. I’ll follow up on other leads as well.
As above, I can travel on a daily basis and I can spend my own money to get trained if needs be.
I’ve never been happier than when I worked in the bike trade.

Funnily enough, I was going to ask for some volunteer shop work to gain more up to date experience so I’d be up for some race marshalling as well. It all counts. Please chuck me an email over if you’re serious? It’d be great to get involved.
