10 minutes pedal to Marple? On a pedal powered moped maybe and 10 to 15 minutes drive to the Peaks? You’d be rushing.
I don’t rate the place at all to be honest. It all seems a bit middle England and bland to me. Apart from Lyme Park which is a bit of a drag to get to from Poynton, it’s not a great place to go mountain biking from. Road riding on the other hand is another matter. The Cheshire lanes pretty much start from there.
Mr Nettles once confessed to being a native of Poynton. Fingers crossed he’ll pop in and talk you out of it.

Just to redress the balance. There is a guy who works at Evans Chill Factore (Trafford) who would have exchanged or refunded the op instantly with good grace, knows quite a bit about bikes, rides them lots and lots, has customer service skills which are put to use constantly which results in daily feedback through the Evans website which is outstanding, has already had a huge pay rise after only 6 months of working there and is probably about to be promoted again unless he moves to another job before it happens.
Their not all bad 😉

I live in Marple and work on the far edge of Trafford Park. I bike in and home most days. About an hour and 15 minutes each way. Driving isn’t a huge problem if you can get past Offerton Green before 7:00am or don’t head home until after 6:00pm
We went for a ride to Ladybower from home yesterday. Almost no road at all from our front door to Fairholmes but there’s more to life than biking.
