Stans ZTR rims and Kenda Kwiker tubeless at 40psi front and rear for me. Cross racing, road training rides and Peak District off road rides (avoiding Hagg Farm and the like). No burping, holes, blowing off rims. I seem to be doing OK. Not as fast on road as a road bike wheel but then it’s not a road bike wheel set up.

Cripes! I paid nearly that for my Flash 1 from there 18 months ago. I love it and the Lefty is superb. It’s not had or needed any maintenance since new and I probably do around 50 miles minimum a week on it around the Peak. Bottoming it out resets the needle bearings apparently or so I’m told. I’d buy that bike tomorrow if I was allowed.

Iolo- I’ve still got mine and my insurance, as far as I can tell is pretty much as it should be. Fully comp. 1.3 hatch back. South Manchester / Cheshire. £240 a year with 8 years NCB. I’ve been to P2 a few times as well. No concerns.

I’m doing the same thing. Wondering where to go. Following a chat in the park this morning about bikes I’ve been inspired to get the ‘cross bike out.
I can’t decide on something from Marple canal, into Brabyn’s, Ethrow, Robin Hood’s Picking Rods and Peak’s light or road out to Alderly Edge and mess about in the woods for a bit.

Thanks for all the input. I live on the (near) edge and ride almost exclusively around the Peak District so I’m thinking I need to avoid them if they’re slippery on wet rocks. There’s a lot of rocks and it’s always wet round here.

We got a Westie for our 6 year old daughter. She’s now 17. She’s walked the thing 4 times. Every other time it’s been me or her mum. We can’t all be out of the house at the same time for very long because “it’s not fair on him”. The thing adopted me and follows me around everywhere. It never wants to play with anybody else. Just me. I can’t wait for it all to be over. Vet bills. Food bills. Toys. Attention. Walks in the rain. Dog hair on everything. Barking in the night. Crying to go out in the night. The sooner it’s gone the better.
    Yeah…..on balance, I think it’s a bad idea.

They’ll have no elastic or silicone gripper at the bottom to stop them riding up with your leg movement. Get a bit of a sprint on and they’ll turn into skimpy shorts…..shit idea. Spend a tenner at Decathlon and get some knee warmers.

“The items are not intrinsically better quality than alternatives”

Yes they undoubtedly are. Night and day difference between Rapha and Altura for instance.

I admit to being the proud owner of a pair of Rapha over socks. I hope to graduate to a pair of 3/4 bib longs this autumn. Not the Shutt VR crap I bought last year. Oh no, never again.

You really do have a huge issue with your geographical location don’t you Rusty. Did your heart want Bramhall but your bank balance say Bolton?

I bought a pair of Levi jeans for £60 because they fit better, feel more comfortable and will last three times as long (at least) as two pairs of £30 jeans from Next. If I find myself needing a couple of pairs of bib shorts at the same time, I might buy one pair of Rapha because I’ve never read or heard of anybody complaining about the quality, comfort, customer service, longevity of the product that I have with Endura.

For a week? Really? It’s a 50 mile road ride. Go to bed when you get home. Sleep for 5 hours. Get up again and you’ll be a bit tired at your normal bed time. Go to sleep. Get up at your normal get up time. Look at that! Everything is normal. It’s just one late night. Christ! Some people do make things hard for themselves.

Hi James. Sounds like a plan. Maybe you’ll stay for a bit longer? All the way maybe?

It’s not the price of the item that is the issue, it’s the repeated offering of the item(s) for over a year! The same shit item. More than one year. Mental.

But you’re not selling stuff for a tenner though are you…….nobody’s buying the tat!
If you could put an early warning notice up before your ad, that would help because it’s almost the exact same title of the same tat week in week out for months moving into a year which makes seeing the same shit unavoidable.
Much like just about everybody else, I’m not reading past the title.
If nobody wants it for next to nothing, give it away.
I’m actually enjoying this more than I’d like to. It’s like bullying so I’m out from this point.

Yep. Just asked. Pretty convinced that’s the place. No names of who’s going yet but it looks like this lot are your culprits. Sorry.

A small world. I think that might be some of the people from my work. In fact, as I’m provisionally booked to go with them (I’ll find a way of getting out of it) I’m convinced it’s them. The name of the place sounds familiar and it’s booked for the last weekend in April. Mixed group of abilities but I don’t do groups.

“Takes a while”? Christonabike man! Don’t you get bored? You do it for months!
Other avenues for selling your shit items are available. Nobody wants the crap them. Ebay the junk. Please!
Hahaha! You complete mentalist! You’ve been been punting those tyres for over 12 months, 🙂
“Takes a while to sell” :-). Mint!

What about the near omnipresent panaracer rampage, road gloves and cinelli road stem ad? Cleverly disguised previously with a different title and the inclusion of some shorts and one (single, not a pair) pedal.
    God loves a try’er.

Only a little bit. On every cycling website. At least twice. A day.

Bikerooms on Deansgate is where you need for Assos, Sidi and the like. Some lovely stuff in there. Edingburgh bikes in Rusholme is reasonably well stocked for Endura but a bit of a mission from the centre. Bicycle Doctor is just up the road from there. Harry Halls on Whitworth Street is quite nice and Keep Pedalling, although small is lovely. Even further out in Didsbury is Cycle a Surgery. They have some nice stuff.
Ps. If your Trek comes down in price, I’d have it as a winter trainer / commuter.

Happens to me quite often. I do 1000 mile months for a few months. Riding road to and from work, ‘cross riding in the evenings, mountain bike at the weekend and then it suddenly falls off a cliff and I barely get out of bed.
You can get medication for it :-).
Give it a rest for a while. Minimum of a month. If you don’t feel like riding during or after the month, sell stuff. You won’t lose any more money by waiting 4 weeks.

To be fair to you, spending £2,000….hell, not much over £1,000 on a bike should have you feeling excited and happy without a bike fit to boot so yes, I’d be disappointed too.
Put the bad start behind you and begin again with the bike you’ve bought, would be my advice.
Look forward to riding it. Ride it and give the whole thing a chance. A few months and a few thousand Km’s sort of chance (assuming it fits now).
More importantly, what bike did you get and any pictures?

    monksie

They balls’ed the set up, up. Probably crossed wires along the line of ‘The bike needs a 90mm stem, the saddle height dropping and it needs a pre delivery ‘once over’ which was heard as “The bike has had a 90mm stem fitted, saddle dropped and pre delivery ‘once over’.
    Not great but possible…..possibly.
Campagnolo IS clunky. It’s a definite change rather than a smooth change. Some people love it, some people don’t.
Your leg will get better. Probably a pulled muscle or something. Not great. Especially with a new bike to ride. Couple of days, you’ll be right.
Not a great start. A chain of mistakes.
    But.
You spent 2.2k on a bike where you didn’t gave a go? You didn’t get a feel of Campag. before you bought it? You didn’t have a sit on the bike after the fitting and before you took it home?
As above. It’s a disappointing start but it so easily could have been prevented from getting this far.
Next step? if you really don’t want the bike, talk to the shop and see if they’ll take it back. Might have a better chance of swapping it for another over a refund.
You can’t buy a bad bike for that money, only a bike that won’t suit you.
    Good luck.

12.5’ish Mick. Not at all flexi. Tubeless and and doing fine. In fact, they’re set at 40psi front and back and doing fine off road. Draggy on but you’d expect that. Super grippy though. The Clicky freehub is starting to annoy.

Hey up Mick. That’s what I’m using on the Colnago. They’re great but the tyre – Kenda Kwicker 33c folders blow off the rim when they go over 50psi.

Spoonie!! I can’t believe you forgot me when I think about you every day :-).
I did London, Luton, Northampton, Leicester, Derby, Matlock (wtf was I thinking, fading fast), Buxton (dead on my pedals), Manchester.
Whilst it is resurrected, huge thanks again to everybody who sponsored me. It topped out at just under 2k for the hospice with gift aid and thanks to Fatboyjon, Crikey, Mercx Steve and Crazy Legs for dragging me along for the last bit.
