I have seen a Sanderson soloist in Merlin which looks quite nice, but, I have seen a Whyte hard tail which I may even look at going 1×9 ….

Hi Chaps, I looked at Bike Monger, but most of his stuff is 29er.
Hi Ron, I am a bit lazy/short of time/cack handed/etc so I was really after a fully built rig…(hence a need for singlespeed!)

I agree with kfp, imagine if you bought a car, paid for it and then went to pick it up, only to be told we didn’t have any of those but sat on the forecourt is the same car but £1000 more expensive. I’d be pissed off.

Been waiting for over a week for a saddle. Contacted CRC who said they were waiting for someone to get it from another warehouse??? But it’s very cheap and I can’t find another nearer the price so I am gonna have to wait :(

Hi ozzie, I bought a Kona caldera from chain reaction in January. They are great bikes, good kit for the cash. Using it as a winter training bike. Most important is fit, make sure you get a bike that is the right size or you are just throwing your cash away. Try a few out at your local bike shops. If they can’t offer you a deal then have a look on line for a deal.
Canyon are good bikes and come with good spec, but if anything goes wrong you’ll need to sort it yourself. Most big brands , specialised, trek etc will not be able to offer as good a deal, so look at a 2011 spec bike.
Good on line stores, try chain reaction, Evans cycles, wiggle, merlin cycles. In fact Merlin cycles own Malt bikes are very good.
    Hope this helps.

Been a fan of GnR for years, had the pleasure of seeing both GnR recently and velvet revolver before they split. Axel peed a few people off, including his own band, but he is still a talented vocalist. The early GnR stuff is superb. Nothing at the time was like it. Chinese democracy was, for me, very strange.
Love velvet revolver and slash’s own stuff. It’s just good, honest rock n roll. Which is what the band is all about.
Lead singers have always been a bit fragile, but often that is what sets them apart. The band will always have a following which can’t be said about some of the rubbish being released today( god I sound old!!!!)

We are going up on 22/4 on our annual Snowdon ride. Up the llanberis is usually 2-3 hrs depending on stops for photos, rests etc. 1/2 hour on top for a coffee if the cafe is open, then a blast down the rangers/ telegraph trail. We usually give it a full morning…

I live 10 mins from the place, but only ride it once in a blue moon. But, I do like it every now and then…the ride up to the masts is a good diversion, but for me it gets too busy. I prefer the hills for the peace n quiet.
The rock drop is a fairly new addition to the red route, about half way around.
    Penmachno is better.

We use the galaxy as a work vehicle, and to be honest it’s been very unreliable. Biggest problem has been the diesel particulate filter.
Comfy tho, but the galaxy is a big old bus. If it were my cash I would look elsewhere. Friend of mine bought an old shape discovery 04 from new, 7 seater and he didn’t have a single problem with it, traded it for a V W passat.

Good topic gents, just thought I’d add my thoughts. I have 2 long travel hard tails at the mo, a Chumba hx1 with 140mm talas forks and a pace rc 325.5 with revelations. I also have a 100mm kona hard tail.
All I can say is that they are all great bikes, but I think the most important component is tyre choice, not travel. I have ridden my chmba down some gnarly stuff with slippy as hell schwalbe Tyres and been scared witles, a week later ridden the same stuff on my 100mm kona with frilly panaracer tyres and it was a blast….maybe we are too focused on suspension at times. Who knows.
I have also ridden in the alps on an orange 160 alpine alongside a riding buddy on a 100mm travel blur xc, and he made me look like I was sat still….the reason, I was on a hire bike and he was on his own steed..

Oh well, I suppose another thread will start when a mtb’er is killed during a live fire exercise as they thought they had a right to be there or failed to see the red flags or missed the loud bangs…….

As for the lakes, I have ridden high street from Hartsop, free parking and a nice pub at the end. Try Keswick mtb they do good route maps around the area, the borrow dale bash is a nice route to try..

1 series is not a car I would recommend unless you get rid of the run flat tyres, I swapped mine for an Audi a3 sport back, much better and larger rear. It will take my hard tail with the rear seats down and front wheel out.
