Any energy company. Hiking prices up in winter, forcing 1000s into paying over the odds for a necessity makes me sick, especially given the profits they make. Knobjockeys

What this thread has shown is that people still want to join the force. Despite what the media or society throws up (riots, deaths of officers, eroded terms and conditions.), the thin blue line is getting thinner, colleagues are retiring and not being replaced. My force has a freeze on recruitment at present yet we need more officers. When this will happen, who knows.
What really annoys me is the media. Officers will often be criticised (and deservedly so), but what often gets unreported are the acts that save lives, and prevent disasters from happening.
It is a tough job, and yes I agree NHS and hm forces do a tough job too. Public servants are feeling the cosh of this government more and more, and you have pointed out that the govmt. alternatives are just as bad.
It is the small things that help, a colleague of mine saved a small child yesterday as she was choking. He was first on scene and his first aid saved the Childs life. The ambulance was another 5 minutes. Again because the paramedic was elsewhere and they too were stretched to the limit.
What is scary is what would happen should another spate of riots take hold. Would we(the emergency services) be able to provide you, the public, with the service you deserve?

Wrecker, the police don’t have a union either….it’s a federation. In some places of the uk, yes, it’s as dangerous for cops. The amount of gun crime has trebled in the inner cities the past 5 years. If I need back up it could be 10-15 Minutes away, I can’t call for a gunship to rescue me. Remember the riots last year???? Hmmmmmm, I would say that was just as demanding.

I agree the hm forces do get a rough deal, I served in n Ireland during the troubles so know first hand how tough it is.

Wrecker, that’s crap. My duties are just as demanding as the Army and rm, unfortunately people like you don’t see the specialist side of policing. The police are bound by more red tape than any of hm forces (I was in the forces prior to the job so I know this. Fact)
Just a few things to consider-hm forces get, free health and dental care, low cost subsidised accommodation.. The police do more hours than teachers, fire and rescue and NHS staff.

We deal with the crap no one else wants… You try getting hold of social services at 2am!!!!!

Bregante, nice words. I’ve been in the job since 97, moral is terrible at the ‘mo but I work with some amazing professional people. I won’t say much more except that I love my job (afo) and I have seen stuff that no one can imagine.
I can count on one hand the amount of Xmas I have spent with my family, I have missed countless important family events, bike events, and put up with abuse no normal person would be expected to put up with.
When I retire I am going to treat my wife to the best goddam holiday with my lump sum!!!!!
To all my colleagues (regardless of force) please please stay safe…..

My first stop would be citizens advice…or trading standards. Get some legal/consumer rights advice then email the seller with the results.

Good luck getting your cash back.

Ah, sorry, working…..if you park in Cilcain, head up past “the fire place” hang a left, follow the road up, turn left. This will take you onto a bridle path. At the top you can either go left onto a bridle path called “tir gofal” which will take you to the bottom of moel famau, or you can go over and down towards Ruthin.

I would go with the first and do a cheeky run from the summit of Moel Famau, the descent to the car park is great, and when you get to the bottom there are loads of routes back to Cilcain. loggerheads is good for a brew and ice cream but watch out for the ranger if you ride the footpaths.
The leete is a footpath, but it’s an excellent piece of trail…ahem!!!

If you go to llandegla have a crack at riding towards the masts. It will fill the day a bit more and if it’s dry worth the detour. Ask in the shop about the route.

    Enjoy…I wish I could get out :(

Nearest is Bikes direct in Holywell, think they do GT but often have a good selection of bits n pieces. They are easy to find, located off the A55 Holywell turn off. The next is one planet at llandegla which is about 15 mins from Mold.

Routes…a couple around Cilcain, up around the bottom of Moel Famau. I would show you around but I have a busy few weeks in work so not out much. When you up???

Loads to do mate, if it’s nice a walk around the Walls is nice, shopping if you have a better half, around the shambles. We always like to go around the museum too. Avoid the Jorvik Viking thingummy. Loads of nice places to eat. If you like Chinese food there is an awesome one near the cathedral opposite a thai eatery ( can’t remember what is called, but all the local Chinese eat there).

Don’t think that there is much in it spec wise, mine is a 2009 model!!

I bought the medium, which fits perfect for me.(5’10, 32 leg). Swapped the bar for an answer pro taper, 70mm stem. The fork had a loose feel, even when locked out, and was struggling to get anywhere near all it’s travel. The drivetrain, wheels, frame even saddle are in my opinion great. putting some 2009 xt brakes on, but not had any issues with the avids.

Hi mate, I bought a gt avelanche expert from Pauls about 4 months ago, great bike but the tora fork was terrible. Just stuck a marzochi marathon on it and transformed the bike, great spec for the price though, and a similar 2012 bike would have been closer to 800 quid.

I have a few mates who live around the Whitehaven area and I am constantly amazed at the fact that all they ride is Whinlatter. The area has some amazing natural riding.

Oh, and if anyone does go to the Whinlatter the car park is actually free, NOT a pay to stay. A friend works for Allerdale CC and the local taxpayers fund the car park, the way the signs are worded make it sound like a pay/display, not one of my pals actually pay. You can get a ticket slapped on your windscreen but again, the way it is worded sounds like a fine…but its not.
It is/ should be a voluntary contribution…..spread the word.

Ours is a bitch and will chase anything that moves, but what a personality she has, I think they are a super dog, despite suffering from cecs. We use a long police tracking lead , about 15 foot long, so it gives her some freedom.

We have a border terrier who is 8 yrs old. Great with kids and an excellent house dog, but she will run off at the slightest opportunit. She has slipped her lead and brought down a sheep in the past.( very funny to watch!!!) so she can’t be let off the lead.

Be carefull about breeders, Borders can suffer from cesc or spykes disease, which can cause them to have fits. Little is know about this and breeders tend to deny it exists, but ours suffers from it.

Footage is on you tube, and some info can be found on t’ interweb

Toyota did a corolla 4x4estate few years back if it’s a cheap car you are after.

Volvo did a 4x4estate based on the v70, think its the xc70. Some jaguar x types were 4 wheel drive, remember the advert with it hooning down the ski slope.

Sounds like a warranty job. I’d just send it back and be prepared to wait, that way you are covering yourself. Not ideal. It’s good that you are sharing your experience, the bikes always get good write ups but part of buying a product is the support that goes with it.
I wonder if other direct sales companies such as Rose have as bad customer support.
With regards to any comeback it may be worth contacting your local trading standards/citizen advice to see what their take on sale of goods act will be.
Either way good luck in getting it sorted. I don’t suppose a standard front mech will bodge on somewhere?
