If you like the VW tdi then look at the Jetta. 5k will get you a decent one with less than 100k on the clock.

Started college to do A levels but dropped out after 12 months as I hated it, joined the RAF Police, did 6 years, left that, worked as a Debt Manager (2yrs) for a large finance company before joining the Old Bill. Been doing that for 16 years.

The original Matrix was superb. I grew up with the original Star Wars movies, so I guess these have had the most lasting memories for me

Cheers for the replys gents…it kind of goes along my thinking. I look forward to the trip all year and kind of want to maximise my fun, so I guess hiring a full Suss wil be the ticket.
My hard tail is a Cove Stiffee, not the most subtle bike out there.

Hi shark bait, trading standards would be your next port of call. I am from N.Wales and know the particular dealership. They are renowned for being s***t and have a terrible reputation in the area….there is a very good independent VW garage in Ellesmere Port (can’t think of where off the top of my head). If all else fails give them a try, (good for servicing too)….hope it’s sorted.

Hi mate. A good friend of mine suffers from this. Loves his food and drink. He makes a lot of his own food ie. Sausages, black pudding. Drinks Cider instead of beer, but he finds the biggest issue is bread. The coeliac stuff is expensive and doesn’t toast well…so more home made and less processed crap.

    @ instant hit- I was RAF Police 89 – 95
Classic was during a fence patrol, myself and mu colleague came across a section of fence violently swaying to and fro, fearing someone was trying to climb over we carried on along the fence only to come across a young lady known locally as “Peter Beardsley” due to her good looks. being pleasured from behind. The force of their action causing the fence to sway….
The chap who was caught one weekend plaesuring himself against the Station Commanders Curtains….
Crime wise- loads of funny stuff..
A chap who was caught shoplifting on a ferry comming back from Ireland , he was an RAF employee, threw himself off the ferry into the dock as it was docking to avoid capture
Two WRAF fighting over a chap in their accomodation block, when we arrived they were starkers, so we took our time dealing with that incident… :-)

Many, many years ago I worked in a pub ran by a Canadian chap and his wife.
Came in to work one Sunday lunch to find the pub crawling with rozzers…”under age drinkers?? I asked, the reply, “no mate, we’ve arrested your boss, he has been running a brothel upstairs for the last 6 months”
Bar steward never even offered me any freebies!..

Hi mate. We did a family holiday this year and stayed in Samoens. Loads to do in the area if she likes walking. There are some nice gentle walks along the river out of Morzine, the shopping isn’t too bad. If she has access to a car it would give her more choice. If going with a group of non bikers may I suggest the Lac Blu at Morillion. Nice play area for kids and one of these go Ape type adventure areas, again, you can walk along the river.

@st Colin, hi mate. Sorry to hear you suffer with depression, but if I may offer some advice. I used to race (6yrs ago now) and have always been fit, but I hated racing, and looking back now I can see why. It ruined why I started mtb ing in the first place, it wasn’t social and very elitist.
The advice from the other posts is great, concentrate on just riding, getting out and having fun. See if you can get involved in club/pub rides. After a ride look at what went well, try and focus on the positives ie. Wow, I’ve never managed to ride up that section before….

Try contacting Leisure lakes Bikes at mere Brow , nr Tarleton (through southport, towards Preston, they used to hold a race series), not sure if they have some local riding (its about 15mins out of Southport), otherwise nearest place is as said, Rivington Pike

The pedal threads seem ok. Sounds an expensive repair, may just go on eBay and get some second hand crank arms.

Hi si, I had a haro beasley 650b ss for a few years. It was a nice bike, not as nimble as a 26 er. Spares and tyres were an issue at the time. Not sure if 650b will catch on. If I was looking at another 650b bike, I would want a frame that could run both 26 and 650b. It’s all down to choice I guess. I’ve always liked the Brodie holeshot. Nice looking frame.

    Steve.
