Owned lots of bikes but the best-
Cove Stiffee – great handling bike, loved to bits
Litespeed pisgah – took it everywhere, even did Snowdon, and kept up with a few full suss bikes down the ranger path
Current Bike- Santa Cruz Nickel – great FS bike, just a shame SC no longer wanted to market the APP concept :(

Be One Karma from CRC a few years ago, pants, heavy and the old euro style geometry. Terrible bike..
Few years ago I had an old Raleigh Montage in fluro green, ok to ride but every part of the drivetrain fell to bits after a few weeks use.

Few years ago, baking hot day at the mother in laws house, whole family sat outside, I sit on a sun lounger only to have”the old fella” pop out of my shorts…
Old G/F at my parents house, said parents go out, me and the gf get down to business. Few minutes later I can hear banging downstairs only to find my parents banging on the door as they had gone out without keys and had been trying to get in for about 10 minutes, dad very sternly says to me”son, I hope you are being careful”…. :D

Theft – defined as dishonourable appropriation of anothers property with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it…hence why TWOC is a separate offence, as joyriders only intend to borrow not to steal, therefore, technically if you intended to borrow and admire the item at home intending to return it in a few days you could get away with it*

    * I am no expert, you do this at your own risk

6k sounds about right. We had 2 done last year, family bathroom plus ensuite. Suite/shower/fittings all came from Travis Perkins, local plumber fitted suite and did a bit of tiling. Flooring plus bits came and it all came to 6k, but we didn’t go ott with the suite.

Hi Donk, I help run NWMBA and ride Snowdon nearly every year. Sorry about your experience on the Mountain, it really sounds as though you were unlucky that day.
I have ridden the Llanberis and down the rangers a fair few times, and never had an issue. Provided riders recognise the voluntary ban, long may we continue to enjoy this excellent trail.

Have another go in September once the ban is lifted. We have had some lovely weekend rides there.

Quite agree with the OP, its his hard earned cash, so why not expect the best quality before you hand the money over?
We often rant on here about poor customer service so why not rant about shoddy build quality?

Anyway OP, whyte 29er, Canyon 29er?? Whyte Hardtails get some good reviews….

Hi Mate, mine arrived last week. I bought a 2012 model from Bikes 2 U direct. I am just under 6ft and bought the 19inch, which is perfect.

I took it out yesterday for its first ride. Fantastic, the thing that strikes me the most is how quiet it is. No chain slap or rear mech clatter.

I swapped over the stem and bars (wider and shorter). The stock tyres are terrible, so they will go next.

A fantastic winter bike. No issues with only 8 speeds, managed to get up every climb…

    Get one.. :-)

Hi Rik, I love my hard tails and have had a few of what has been mentioned, Chumba hx1, stiffee and the Pace Rc 325.5.
Of all I loved the stiffee but they run a standard 1/18 head tube s o fork choice is very limited. If it was my cash I would try to get the Pace. I run mine on 140mm revs, just superb….

Hi Sputnik, I am a TP fan. Some great suggestions up there, +1 for anything involving Vimes and the City Watch, men at arms is a good read, Jingo, Carpe Jugulem, Small Gods is funny. As a starter try The Last Hero. It was printed ias an almost graphic novel type short story. Amazon may have it.

    Good choice BTW.

I also find David Gemmell a good author of fiction/fantasy if TP doesn’t float his boat. Dark Prince and Lion of Macedon are simply brill.

The stem will have to go, it’s a bit “bling”, got some race face evolve stuff, seat post, bars, stem to swap over.
Those Conti tyres will be a new experience. Anyone know what the Mountain King tyres are like??
