    I use one of these

    http://www.cyclestore.co.uk/madison_telegraphe_mens_waterproof_jacket_small_only-ID_20249?gclid=CIqL69KKuL8CFa7HtAodQhcAYw

Brilliant on and off the bike. It worked well in 2013 doing the Passportes event in the pi####g rain.

Providing you follow the washing and reproofing guidelines they last ages. I use Nikwax to reproof.

Always had a love for big cars. I grew up in Southport, the local motorbike dealer had a Lotus Carlton (1988 i think) then he bought a Tickford Capri. Amazing cars. Between me and my younger brother we have had a couple of Volvo s60’s, vauxhall Senator 3.0, Nissan Maxima to name a few…

Will do, I will be viewing/testdriving this weekend. A mate is a local independant volvo specialist but knows his cars and has serviced/looked after mine(he would be servicing this).I called him last night and he just laughed at me when I told him what I was going to look at. He said big money would be cambelt/exhaust system/brakes but no worse than top end BMW or Audi.

I watched the BBC4 documentary and the one you mention Ton. It was eye opening how much power he had, esp managing to halt a federal investigation. Good friends with Big Bill Clinton? Yup. Do me a favour Bill….

The maserati is far to expensive. The wife has the nice sensible car (mini countryman). This is the fun lunacy for me to get to work and weekends. At the moment I do about 6-8k miles a year. At over 40(ish) the insurance is cheap. :-)

Fuel wise it’s no worse than a subaru impreza I had. It’s annual servicing a v8 that may break me :|

The wife has just completed her foundation degree through the OU. She is doing Youth Justice. For her it works well as she works full time and does a few hours in the evening. Her modules run from Oct-Jun and have cost between £750-£950.
However a couple of things she has noticed. When she started she could attend a tutor session (fairly local) once per month. These have now stopped and she has to rely on a forum for tutor questions. Not great considering w much she has to pay. Also the marking is very inconsistent, when she queried this she was told tough but there is no way to appeal.
Would she recommend the OU? No. But for her it has to do as no other uni will offer the courses she wants in distance learning.

Hi mate. Couple of crime prevention tips for you. The simplest is let your neighbours know. The more people who are vigilant the better. CCTV, great idea but a good system isn’t cheap
    http://www.tesco.com/direct/home-electrical/security-cctv-cameras/cat3375753.cat#prevTile=pt-213-4314_213-4314

Expect to pay £200ish. A good idea is to put a coupke of these by the back door. You need 2 to set up correctly or you can put one just inside by the door

    http://www.google.co.uk/shopping/product/1831326131526852709?sclient=tablet-gws&client=safari&hl=en&q=yale+standalone+alarm&oq=yale+standalone+alarm&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.&bvm=bv.70138588,d.ZGU,pv.xjs.s.en.Q8Qad3Uxl6g.O&biw=1024&bih=622&tch=1&ech=1&psi=WqK7U4_1G-qJ7AacsIHYCQ.1404806628221.7&ei=pqK7U-LzGI2h7AampYGgDA&ved=0CFMQpiswAQ

Hide them in the area around the door and the alarm should scare off any potential thieves.

Most important is see if anyone is hanging around the area. Don’t be afraid to call 101 and report anything suss either person or vehicle. If you do see anyone dodgy get a good description and note the time of day. Same with vehicles. The more info you can pass to the police the better.

We use Shoguns at work. Ok, but not much room inside considering the size of the vehicle. Ours are all lwb diesel autos and drink fuel too. We have run them since 2007 and have two 14 plate ones. The last one died of gearbox failure.

Molgrips, as an officer of the law I hope you have learnt your lesson. You may end up going to prison whereupon you will be abused in the showers by “Mr Big”. :D

Hi Mark. I am currently off the bike due to an over the bars crash resulting in a back injury.
The symptoms I had were/are a sharp pain down my left leg after being seated for a few minutes. Saw my own physio as nhs was a 12 week wait. Anyway, i had a bulged disc which was aggravating my sciatic nerve. Was told 4 months to get better, but after seeing physio, doing stretches and plilates after 2 months a huge improvement.

My advice, docs, ibupropen and see if you can get to a physio asap. (£35 -40) per session near me

    Hope its better soon mate.

I disagree with it being more expensive. Sure you can spend silly amounts of money, but if you shop around and do your homework the likes of Canyon, Cube, Rose and Boardman offer some brilliant bikes for less than 2k.
Even buying a frame and building yourown custom bike is fairly cheap with steel frames for £300.
Ebay and the www have made the choice huge. Just ride and be happy.

Most normal well adjusted bods ignore the tosh in “some” mtb mags (present company excepted) :D

Stick some bluetac on the latch tonight. May stop the latch from lifting. If it works it may also p*** the ghost off so much you will be sucked into an alternative world.

On anoter note I have always disliked Ghosts.

Much prefer the cube and canyon range of bikes.

Just spent £260 at our vets for our dog. This included teeth out, booster jabs and check up. (still cheaper than a visit to our dentists)

Expensive, but her health/well being has no price :-)

Hi mate. Had 2 S60’s in the past. A 53 plate s60 se and an 05 s60 d5 sport. Both great cars, good mpg. However I had a serious issue with my s60d5 sport. Basically got in the car one morning and it failed to start. AA diagnosed possible immobiliser issue so car towed to local volvo main dealer (chester) as under warranty.
I get a call later that day to say water had ingressed the car via the plennum gasket and my entire engine management system was goosed. Total bill £2k 8O
Ok, still under warranty, but no, small print said no water damage covered.
Anyway, after much legal messing about, and 6 months later I got half my money back.
But, spoke to a volvo independant dealer who said this is a known fault (basically leaves and debris clog up the drainage on the scuttleboard where the windscreen wipers are). Recalles for this fault in USA but not in europe.
After the way volvo uk treated me I haven’t touched a volvo since.
