MP’s….bunch of idiots. In the austerity years they ALL voted for a 9% pay increase. This says a great deal to me. However I firmly believe the Queen and Prince Philshould run the country…bring back a medieval system etc etc….heheheh 😀

We did this route on my very first visit to the Alps. We were staying in Morzine. We got the route from the guys at Flow MTB, ended up getting one of the lifts up from Morzine, and riding towards a huge cross on top of the mountains. The descent into Samoens from there was incredible. We had lunch in town and rode back up a loooong road climb to morzine.
It took us all day, the most memorable part were the two 70yr old naked Germans who passed us on the road. Stoped to chat to us whilst we cooled off at a water trough. 😯
I didn’t know the route, as I was following the guys leading, so can’t give you much in the way of details. Got some incredible photos too. (of the scenery, not the naked Germans!)
    Sorry.

His brother used to live in our village in North Wales and the wifes family are good friends with the Harris family. She is rather upset by this news 🙁

Some great advice. Cheers guys. I am in no rush to leave my current employment, so just keeping an eye out for something that suits me. Having an up to date CV will allow me to send one out if I see a job I like.

I would accept the repair and ask for an extended 12 month warranty. Honda have a reputation to uphold and i would use this as a bargaining tool.

Hi Ton. I bought a pair of cheap New Balance Trainers from M and M direct (£26.00). I wear these when i take the little ‘un out on their bike/Llandegla.Lasted me over 12 months but not been used in the wet. Used for dog walking and mooching about too so got my moneys worth.

Drove from North Wales, trip across was split with an overnight stop close to the tunnel. Drive back was done in one go. 12 hrs with a couple of stops.
    That was to Samoens.

A few years ago my mate and i were walking through a motorway services car park when an idiot in a BMW flew into a car parking space we were walking across. My mate timed a perfect starsky and hutch roll over his bonnet got up and said “sorry pal, didn’t see you there”. 😆
    Idiot was not happy….

The Thule 970 is rubbish. I found the unit moved on the ball causing the bikes to rub onto the bumper of my car. The carrier just clamps down and isn’t secured in any way.

    Aye, I know the feeling.
Lossiemouth to The Azores. The Azores to Bangor. Bangor to Nellis AFB (Las Vegas). Trailing the Tornados out to Red Flag.
At least I wasn’t going to Goose Bay!

A tactical landing into Basra in a Hercules was quite an experience.

Never experienced a tactical landing, but saw a few. You could tell the folk who had flown in a herc before, as they put their hoods up during landing to prevent getting soaked from the condensation thawing!
Goose Bay was amazing, we were there Sep-Oct. -18 at night, but we could eat in the tri-services mess with the Yanks. Best food I have ever eaten.

I spoent 8 hours in a Herc several years ago flying to Goose Bay in Labrador. A most unpleasant experience!

For a weekend we have stayed in Hartsop, Patterdale in the lakes. Loads of proper lakeland routes from there. Plus it is away from some of the more touristy areas such as ambleside and keswick.

its a shame VW won’t repair it. My brother in law has just had both wings done on his 05 Bora rplaced by VW. the soundproofing stuff they use in the underside of the wings retains water causing the wings to rust from the inside out. His was a recall too and he was the 2nd owner.

@ awhiles, hmmmmm. Could do, may need to re-think some routes but it is do able. 🙂
@ andy, been there buddy. We ran a local event a few years ago, we sorted the course, admin, first aid, prizes the whole lot. There were only 4 of us out of the club that made the effort and we had great success, running the event for 3 years, in the end we just couldn’t spare the time to organise the event. Those members who bitched and moaned about stuff were the ones who did nowt.

Hi amyw, sounds like the sort of thing we are experiencing. From the Facebook side of things it is difficult to guage the sort of folks who are joining.
I think putting something on our FB page about what people want from a ride, as opposed to me saying “come along on one of my rides” may be a better approach.
Thank you all for the replys. It has given me some ideas and maybe I can approach this differently.
    Much appreciated.

Ha. Cheers for the feedback. Interesting comments about the pub bit, although it was only suggested that the pub stop was after the ride, not during. We will probably try again in a few weeks once (hopefully ) the weather improves.
We try to encourage all types of riders and as a “first” ride out for the Facebook group we did try to get across that it would be a social ride for newcomers.
Maybe that the whole riding as a group thing is no longer popular amongst mtb’ers?

Worse bike I owned was a Cannondale Super V700. Put me on my arse more times than I rode it. The Headshok was 80mm of bounce and nothing else.

I bought a 26″ BFe in December. Why? It was a frame swap, all the bits I swapped over were 26″.
No doubt i will struggle to find bits in the future, but I am not bothered. I am sure tyres will still be availableand until then I wil just ride my bike.

Nice to see some local trails (Llangollen) in the Mag. Reminds folks there is more to ride than Llandegla. Great story, and I can heartily recommend the food at the Sun Inn at Trevor 🙂
