Ok, update. The Service Manager from British Gas came out to look at the boiler today. He has made an initial assessment and has said that there is nothing wrong with the boiler/heatexchange/burner other than some slight corrosion on the burner which is normal. A BG engineer is coming out to us next week to do a full check/service for free.
Maybe the sub contractor from the AA was angling for some work? Either way I am not happy with how AA Home Cover have conducted themselves. 😡

Wrecker, see what the vet says. Sounds like he has had a great life with you. It may be time to say goodbye. Sorry dude. Heart goes out, it is tough. 🙁

Update- waiting on a call from the British Gas installations manager this AM. The Burner assembly isn’t that expensive, so if I have to pay for repairs it won’t be too bad.
Wrightyson, the decorators tape has been used around the joint where the flu pipe meets an internal wall. It is just cosmetic but the AA engineer said a proper bracket should have been used.

Spoke to Baxi, it is not a common fault and should have lasted much longer.
Currently trying British Gas . Still got the original job number so we shall see.

Not sure why it has died. The AA chap ( they use a firm called Barlows) was shocked at the corrosion and poor fitting. Can’t believe boilers only last for 5 years! Really?? They are an expensive item 🙁

Hang on, before we all flame DrP he gave us one good piece of info here

I had a meeting at the Uni yesterday so rode there (granted, I was on the fixie in almost ‘full hipster mode’…).

So the bus driver will only be angry with Bearded, skinny legged fixie riders. Not REAL cyclists like us 😀

are they different to the stendec that gets nasty reviews when you do a google search?

The reviews from 2011? Stendec have serviced loads of my forks and I have never had an issue. If they were so poor would they still be trading?
As said, never had an issue, but others may have.

Hi Bex. Sorry, just picked up on this thread. A really good friend of mine is an ultra runner ( i supported him during the Anglesey Ring of Fire). I have sat and discussed his approach a few times with him. Firstly, he looks nothing like your average ulra runner (think chunky Eddie Izzard) and he loves his ale. He says it is 70% mental and preperation, 30% fitness. If he isn’t mentally prepared he has bad races.
So his advice is find your mental zone, this can only come with experience. 🙂

I love mine (Orange CX9), great for heading out on the lanes for a few hours, plus I manage to stay quite clean so no faff when I get home.
If i head out on the MTB i normally spend 30 minutes cleaning the mud from me and the MTB.

There is a lot of anger towards to UK Gov regarding this. The Chinese and Russians don’t adhere to the same manufacturing standards/health and safety/staff wages/and countless other costs. So it will always be a cheaper option.
The Govt has been happy to allow the import of this stuff into the UK market. Can’t see a way back now.
