I only joined this forum because I’m such a close and avid follower of the Bush-meister. I’m still trying to work out which forum-member he is.

I always liked the Jon White designed bikes, the madness of the JW full suspension bikes looked amazing. The Marin bikes of that era were pretty special. Loved my Steel 19 hard tail back in the day too.

We use SMAX in work. Absolutely rubbish. Loads of electrical issues, DPF issues, eats tyres…my money would go on a Toyota Verso.

Forgot to mention ours suffers from CECS which is common in Border terriers.

Our Border Terrier is 13 years old. Tried letting her off the lead when we first got her and she buggered off. Tried recall training, but if she sees something to chase she just won’t come back. Extendable leads are rubbish, so we use a Police Tracking lead. 12 foot long rope lead, just brilliant.

the bright side, I am learning all sorts of new British idioms, e.g.
    “flogging them off”/”bobbins”

    Here’s another word “cockwombles”

Cheers Martin. I have the route from Keswick MTB. I take it there are better alternative routes then?

Last hire car we had, ended up booking a “Golf size” car. Ended up with a Fiat 500L. Dreadful car. 🙁

Hi Ape. Whinlatter is great, the North loop is typical trail centre. The south loop is a straight up then down loop. Well worth doing as the descent is lovely. Fast and flowy. There are nice walks for the family and the cafe is a great place to relax.
We have just moved up to the area from North Wales so I am still exploring the areas.

Dangerous place at that time of morning……the amount of nylon means a huge risk of static shock.

OK, took a Stanton Sherpa out today around the whinlatter trails. It really surprised me. The bike itself was a touch heavy, I would probably look at something a bit more XC orientated. But I was surprised at how fast the bike was on the swoopy dh sections. On some tight uphill switchbacks I struggled to handle the bike around, but with the momentum this was rarely an issue. Looking at demo’ing a few more before I buy.

Cheers psycorp. The bike will be used on a mixture of bridleways and road so the 29er appeals. Looking forward to the demo. 🙂
