@ Chakaping thank you. I take my hat off to all those who volunteer and use up their own time for the sport. Having a voice “out there” is needed. (As I used to be an active member of NWMBA I am aware of the hard work that goes on in the background) keep up the good work.

I was after a decent camera last year but couldn’t stretch to a GOpro.
Bought an Olfi, great camera. Simple to use and the mobile app is superb.

DrP, I am currently going through a separation/divorce. We have just applied for the Decree NISI, so I can see where you are coming from my friend.
It’s been an emotional couple of months but a torrid 2 years for me. (I was falsely accused of a few things in work which needed emotional support from the wife, which never occured)
The separation /divorce was her idea and she has never once shown any emotion towards me during the process. At times I think, could we make it work, but her behaviour at times has been really nasty and unpleasant. So I am 100% sure I will be better of apart.
Sometimes people can change, the soon to be ex has pointed out my character flaws on a daily basis, and I am determined to change with any future partner.
For yourself, take stock. If it has got to this point then maybe it would be best to separate but try to remain friends.
    Anyway, I have a patio to finish….

    I have one of these

Olfi® | HD Action and Lifestyle Cameras | Official Store

Crash replacement, not too expensive, great quality too. The phone app is a doddle to use and the accessories not too expensive. Used it a few times and very impressed.
The only niggle is battery life of about 2 hrs.

Keep it, run it as winter bike hub gears, rigid fork, service the brakes.
Or strip the parts and hang the frame as an ornament.

    Fatty rider here.
Bought a Salsa Mukluk from Merlin when they were on offer, fitted some Mastodon forks.
I love it. I also have a 29er hard tail which hasn’t seen daylight for months.
I live in the lakes so ride it all around, trail centers natural rocky stuff. It really is ace. The amount of grip from the tyres is amazing. And that is the thing..tyre pressure is really really important. I run mine with tubes at about 10-14 psi. This seems to be a sweet spot otherwise I found the tyres a bit “wandery” and would be a pain to steer.
Try one. If you go to Keswick you can hire an efatty!! Think how much fun that would be…

All emergency services are stretched. Some are past breaking point , I know as I am one of them. It’s not great, low moral for those that have remained in the job. Recruitment is poor, with low starting wages, unsociable hours (who would be a cop for £19500)!!
The odd thing is, unless there is a fundamental change in wages/staff retention then it’s not going to get better soon.

I was going to echo IHN, may be worth thinking about the Forces. If you fancy a more “normal ” life look at the RAF. Not sure what recruitment is like at the moment but worth a look?

Done it a few times, but last was about 4 yrs ago.
If Bar Robinson is still going stop there for a beer or two afterwards in Moraine
The day itself is long, the higher you go on the lifts the colder its gets (last time we went it was lovely and warm in the valleys but still snow on the top sections)
So worth packing something to keep you toasty on the uplifts.
The stops are good, and give you time to fuel and grab extras to take along in your pack.
The worst bits (IMO) are the fireroads with the water bars, saw many an nasty off with folk getting them wrong. A mate did a YouTube video of one of our trips I’ll see if I can find it…

It’s a few years old now, needs a good clean and a battery so taking it to a local watch repairer. It’s a lovely watch to wear, lightweight and robust.
