Hi Dirkpitt. I’ve had both. I had one of the original RX9 and a Ti Camino V2.

Loved both bikes, but i would say the Camino rode better ( not just because it was Ti). Nicer geometry, nicer ride. So you’ve definitely gone for the right one.

Lots of basic spec Specialized Diverge on eBay/Farcebook marketplace.

I guess depends on if you want an old school XC hardtail or a drop bar.

So whatever is in your budget?

I’ve had a few over the years..

Orange RX9. Lovely bike but basic spec. A blast to ride on the road.

Cannondale Slate with Lefty fork. Ok, but a harsh ride.

Specialized Diverge Elite. Very nice bike, but more road orientated than gravel.

Sonder Camino Ti. Lovely frame, well spec’d and not too expensive.

My lad had this problem. We bought him a 2011 Audi A3 1.6 diesel. Insurance was £2500 with a black box fitted, which was no worse than similar insurance on a fiesta/Corsa. I think we went through a specialist young persons insurance company too.

I’ve got a 2016 Volvo. Less rattles and better built than some new cars.

Due to bad knees i ride a road bike with flat pedals and i wear MTB shoes.  I do get some odd looks.

    I couldn’t give a hoot who waves and who doesn’t .

The ones who wear the full kit aren’t real. They are really government drones. All they see is zero’s and ones dropping in front of them.

Endurance bikes are the biggest change. Room for wider tyres, less aggressive geometry, comfortable riding position (less arse down). Discs, electric shifting….so yes. Definitely.

No powers at all. Only the same as any person, so in.order for them to act the person must be committing an indictable offence, Sect 24 (2) of PACE

    They are simply a deterrent.

Or as Cartman says ” respect the authoritaaaaay”

Ok, managed to get an appointment with the Drs this afternoon. ECG trace done, blood pressure, and a bit of a check up. All ok, no probs found.

Dr suggested that because i was able to continue with the ride, this was a good indication it was probably nothing. Guess it was just a combination of high pace, lack of fitness compared to my compatriot and going hard too soon (stop sniggering at the back) 🙂

So checked my Garmin heart rate Data. Max heart rate today was around 178 yet i know i can push into 190 and sustain that no problem. Just wondering if it was a big effort without much of a warm up too soon.

Think i will book a GP health check over the next few weeks anyway, just to double check.

My hay fever has been bad these last few weeks too, so wondering if that “might” not have helped.

Don’t monitor my heart rate really. The guy i was riding with is a GP, and he didn’t seem concerned. Just said I’d gone a bit grey. 🤣🫣

Not sure wtf is going on with insurance quotes at the moment. I’ve been with Admiral for last two years. Went from just under £300 to last year’s renewal of £475.  Tried the comparison sites, but were surprisingly competitive so decided to stay. Renewal came in today at £300!!! Volvo SUV driver too.

I’ve got a Spesh Turbo Levo SL, 2023 model so not the newer more powerful. I ride 100% lakes, and even did the Whinlatter demo day last year when i was looking for an ebike. Tried the Cube, Orbea Rise and a Yeti £12k superbike.

The Spesh is great. I’ve used it on all day rides, garburn pass (twice) in one day, all over. Mine doesn’t have the range extender which is handy for longer days

I bought mine as the lakes often requires lifting a bike over something. Full fat ebikes weigh too much for that nonsense. Yes, an ebike is weighty but the Levo SL rides fantastic unassisted. I ride in eco for most of the ride with trail towards the end when I’m tired. With the app you can select how much power you want from each setting.

Any ebike is a compromise. Reliability, weight etc but for me the Levo SL is ideal.

I used to live on Anglesey ( llanfairynghornwy) Cemaes Bay is lovely. Beaumaris Castle and village is lovely. A trip to RAF Valley during the week is worth a visit to watch the Hawks. If you drive through RAF Valley camp and follow the road past the main gate, turn left and you end up on the back side of the camp/runway . There is a nice beach that gets very few visitors and if you are lucky you can watch a few take offs from the end of the runway.

    Rhosneigr Beach is lovely too.

Llanfair PG for the station photo.

    Avoid Holyhead and Llangefni.

The coastal path is really nice. Plus a visit to the local vineyard for a local bottle of wine is a good shout. https://www.gbvg.uk/vineyard/gwynfyd-m%C3%B4n-anglesey-bliss

You should be fine doing the Borrowdale Bash on an ebike.  Not much in the way of elevation and it’s a fun enough route to give the bike some Welly. Easy to do in half a day, so you could do the ‘bash in the morning and a few runs of Whinlatter in the afternoon.

The entrance to No10 Downing street is really a front. It actually opens into the real world where everyone lives in harmony and peace. We are all just a bunch of lab rats in a very odd experiment.

The Darkness. After permission to land they just turned into a comedy band

Incubus, have to disagree. Thought 8 was brilliant.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Californication was the last good album.

The tops are quite soggy, but just normal lakes conditions at the moment. Most paths/trails no worse than usual.

No famous ex’s, but if there was a world championship for Narcissistic people she would win hands down.

Famous friends – went to school with a celebrity chef in Southport. Worked with a firefighter who used to play for Man Utd (before the big wages). He casually mentioned one day when he was sold to Aberdeen, his replacement was George Best. I also work with another ex premier league footballer.

I picked up an Altura Ridge last year in a sale, it’s been absolutely brilliant. I did the Cumbria Cracker in November and it was torrential rain, but the jacket was great. I’ve just reproofed it.
