I stopped buying mtb mags ages ago. I fond they where full of adverts and repeated or contradicted themselves. I prefer the forums for info personally.

I commute 30 miles a day and do this:-
Pre Morn Commute: Cup of coffee

At work: before my shower 1 glass of nesquik with soy milk
    after shower bowl of museli

    Snack: rice cakes and fruit

Lunch: wraps with filling of some sort, crisps and a choccy bar

Before evening commute: Fruit or something

It owrks for me and drinking shed loads of water helps too.

I wish something was done about the bloody idiots who seem to ignore the 30 limit in our village. Trying to cross the road with the pram is interesting at times due to the plebs driving at warp factor ridiculous. I may put my foot down on the motorway but when it comes to residential areas I stay well within or below the limit. Prime example of why. I was driving along at about 15mph when a kiddy decided he wanted to cross the road whilst I was approaching luckily I was able to stop well before him. Now if I had been going the speeds some twunts drive around our estate (bearing in mind they have kids too) at that kiddy would have been toast!
Here endeth my high horse

I too commute on a pompy :) I use sks chromoplastic guards, a Blackburn Quadrant and MARS light set for being seen (and giving people epileptic fits)and I currently have a DX Bastid on its way to me. If your journeys a long 'un like mine (15 miles each way) invest in a carradice saddle bag they are teh nuts! I use a berghaus pac lite and it's ace but I hear good things about this jacket http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=11427

I have used the b&q equivalent and it's pap. I ended up taking it off as it goes yellow and looses it's stickyness.

Where does your loop go? or is it hush hush lol. Hopefully my ss will be battle ready again by the weekend. Thing is I haven't ridden in a month due to the birth of my son so my next ride will be err interesting  When I finally go back to work next week, my commute on my fixie is going to be even more fun

I'm gonna conquer my fear and ride that big bomb-hole!!

That bomb hole is mint :D I personally am not a fan of the little rock drop off before it though. Thing that made me laugh with that was a guy on a full sus wearing a full face helmet and armour chickened out of riding it??
