Quechua trail 27L from Decathlon is the nuts! £29.99 with a bladder (which isn’t too bad) and a 5 year warranty. It’s blooming comfy and light too!! Beats my Berghaus and camelbak products into the ground. Clicky[/url]

Recruitment is pretty dry at the ‘mo. I don’t think mirror techs (PTIs) are recruiting. I am in and when I last spoke to my mate who works in the AFCO, he said it’s a bit bleak at the ‘mo. If he does want to join he needs to make sure he is “the best”, as they have the pick of the bunch in this current climate.
Your best bet is to trot on over to e-goat the RAF’s unoffical forums 😀

    Soooo, nutrition and stuff.

Now I normally use high 5 4:1 with fig rolls and haribo on 100mile + road rides. Now as this is a different beast would I be better with a box of gels (have a bento bag)and stick some solid type food for the bag drops??

I use a spoke bloke (don’t think he makes them anymore though) light front and a blackburn mars rear. I ride dark country lanes and they are great. If it’s well lit, any decent front led light should suffice.
If going high vis go orange and reflective as it really does stand out. Also reflective strips on the legs are great as it draws attention as they are moving. Also a light on the back of the helmet helps too.

I have the cayo and I love it. It gets the power down as it’s really stiff. I have ridden 600+ miles in a week on it with no dramas. It’s v comfy. I changed the wheels to model bs though as the oem ones are ok but heavy.

I will need to carry a camelbak as I only have 1 bottle mount on my Trance and I drink loads 😀 I have a small saddle bag which I use on my road bike which holds: basic tool, levers, 1x tube, 2xCO2. But I am going to borrow a mates tri top tube bag for extra tubes and bits.
My Quechua rucsack is quite light and comfy in comparison to my camelback so I will be using that.
Distance wise I have done 130+ mile road rides (did 640 in one week).
I am also contemplating those Michelin tyres from On-One, as I could do with something that’s faster rolling.

Thanks for all the input so far!!

The mrs uncle has had a trance (not an x) for about 5 years and hes used and abused it (hes a big fella) and its still going strong.
So my theory is being a hell of a lot lighter (70kg) mine shouldnt take as much of a pounding and hopefully give me a trouble free life lol.
