About 15C just lounging about in jeans and a thin merino jumper. The wife would be going mental about how cold it is if she was here 😀

I use a light it goes on bike handlebars. It’s a bike light. The fact it’s a little bit bright on full is no different to a cars high beam IMHO. In fact I use it to get revenge on the arses who don’t dip their high beam. I have never had a drama with other road users as I don’t point it at their eyes.

I got our kitchen from Howdens and I am impressed with it. Plus it was a damn sight cheaper than one from the sheds and of better quality (from the ones I saw).

    Small is 16″ – 5’3″ to 5’6″

Thems are just guidelines. I am just under 5’8″ and small is just fine and dandy for me. Apparently I should be a size up on my winter road bike (Giant Defy) but I ride a small as it’s comfier for me. Whereas on my Focus Cayo I am bang on with the size off their size chart. Just proves you need to try before you buy!

I am around your height and ride a small Trance X2 I didn’t fell right on the medium, but that’s my personal opinion.

Rents, I hope you get it sorted soon mate. At the end of the day you are losing cash as I am guessing their rent goes towards your mortgage (can’t be bothered reading it all). If I was in your situ (which I may be at some stage being in the same business as you 😀 ) goodwill wouldn’t come into it TBH. As far as I’m concerned you aren’t running a charity. Get some Bombers and go and own their ass out of “your” house.

@countzero. If your Octy has air con, set it to the floor setting a bit before you get home. It stops the window condensation issue.

Merino Buff FTW!!! I have an original and a merino and the merino one is brilliant. It keeps my noggin at the right temp on my early morning road commute. I paid £19.99 for mine from a bike shop.

If I was on the outlook for MTB clothing Montane would be my first port of call. Their stuff actually works!! Dare2be, pffft wouldn’t pay that much for their stuff IMHO.

To be fair I would quite happily do that to the little feline swines who constantly crap on my drive and lawn. I would release it like a hammer throw though.

Slightly OT, I had a play on one of those Archos tablety things yesterday and I thought it was horrid. It felt like a child’s toy and was slooooooow. But that’s just my opinion.

Well Mr Fitter came today and………..
Admitted something is amiss with the seal and is replacing it all for free 🙂

Presumably it all looked OK when you signed the work off and paid for it?

Well yes, but unfortunately I don’t have micro or future vision lol.

The tops are from Howdens, as is the rest of the kitchen. They are bolted from underneath.

I can feel that the top has been sealed around the sink from underneath.

    Images paint a 1000 words so… http://tinyurl.com/6g6l7v8

The 1st image is a front on shot of the cracked sealant on the L join that’s on the opposite side of the kitchen.

2nd image is away from where the bubbling is.

3rd image is a top shot of the L join is on the affected side away from the bubbling and you can see where it the sealant has become cracked.

4th image is the 2 bubbled areas.

If water from wiping the surfaces down can do that, then clearly the product should not be on the shelves!!!

I am kind of amazed that most folk would be happy and just accept it if their less than a year old kitchen did this!
I have found cracks in the sealant on the other join thats on the opposite units.
There is a washing machine but it was there before and my last tops were not blown.

The fact there are 2 separate bulges and no others shows a weakness in certain spots IMHO. He used that colour matching stuff and there is a small gap in it at the bottom of the join. So either the stuff he’s used is not upto the job or how he’s fitted it.

But if it’s properly sealed water shouldn’t get in and I quote from above

in two previous houses with laminate worktops they were in for 3 years without any issues.

The worktops that were replaced hadn’t blown and they had been in years so methinks something is amiss.

It’s the mitre joint between the two tops and it’s only in a few parts where it has blown.
We never leave any standing water and even so if it was joined and sealed correctly this shouldn’t happen.
The other side where the washing up is done ie it gets more water on it is fine.

However reading into it, under EU law, the Scottish cannot discriminate tehrefore have to offer all other EU residents free university aswell, other than the other countries on the British mainland, I.E England!

    ??????

If that’s the case then you shouldn’t be discriminated against because you’re English, so you should get a free Uni place.

Having lost my Dad to it earlier this year (he was diagnosed in the October and passed in the March). I do think there is an element of the individual “fighting” ie remaining positive and thinking I am going to kick this thing. My Dad was like this, until they told him there was no hope for him 🙁 He did remain strong to the end though (Christ knows how he did it though!!).
At the end though, I think he gave up and knew it was time to go. Because, pretty much as soon as he heard the Dr start talking about him needing pads etc for toilet time (he had been doing it himself but was getting too weak) that’s when he went.
I get very sensitive about the subject as well as my closest Aunt died due to breast cancer a few years ago and by God she did not give up!!
Another story that’s related. A my wife’s, friends, mother, should have been dead over 12 months ago due to tumor in her brain. She never gave up! unfortunately neither did the cancer and she is now in the Hospice, ironically in the same bed as what my Dad had and my Mum’s friend who died of cancer a 2 weeks before my Dad (weird!!)

This may be a bit hard to read, I know and I am sorry.
