I ride road as well as MTB and I have adopted lycra on the MTB as it is loads more comfier. No snagging when shifting off my seat etc. I prefer it but others don’t.

As luck would have it, my mate was selling his hardly used 16GB one. I’ve leant it off him and I am very impressed. For £90 its amazing!!!

Strava is good but it is not very accurate. It changed all the details of my rides from my edge 500. An when using it on my iPhone it said one thing and the uploaded data said another???

Im going to be attending races (not sure if I will be that competitive) on a Giant Trance X. it’s either that or a single speed for me.

500 user here. It is a great piece of kit. I have it either on the stems of my road bikes or in my backpack and it still works a charm. It fell out of my rucsack into a puddle in the rain and laughed it off. Go get one!! If you do get one from handtec as they are cheapest.

I have a VDO X1DW wireless with cadence and it was good at what it did. I have now gone the GPS route.
I have it boxed in the garage and will be selling it.

the inevitable occurs (sadly no arms torn off, fingers pecked off etc).

Did it break one of their arms?

I have to be honest £300+ for part time use is also what puts me off iPad. Plus I use Linux so iTunes is a pain.

It is mainly going to be used for couch surfing, movies, video chat when I am away and showing photos. It feels like a solid sorted bit of kit and I was impressed by it more than any Android device. The only thing the iPad has over it for me is screen size, hence the PDF rendering question.

Get the edge 500. I have one and it’s immense. Use it on the stems on my road bike and it lives in my pack on the mtb. Pees all over the iPhone for gps type stuff.

Plusnet here. I’ve just left idnet and my speed has shot up. I am on their 60GB off peak package for 11.49 and can’t complain.

I was up there yesterda, bumped into STWer kingkongsfinger (the user that is). It was minging up there. Coming down the eliminator was a moist hoot. I miss northern mud, it can be hosed off with no suds needed.

Would a WMB or MBR review ever be reliable enough to make an informed purchase?

    This x 100000000.

I got WMB on sub for the knee pads and the mag is awful. This month they slag a bike off for its Fox RP2 shock, yet later on in the same test but a different bike they said they didn’t notice not having the features of an RP23?? Absolute garbage. And for some reason they chose a Reign over a Trance for their trail bike test???
Anyhoo back OT, that Wicked look blimming good.

I have neither (have an iPhone 3GS) but I have used both and IMHO I think the iPhone is a better bit of kit. I thought the S2 felt cheap in comparison to the iPhone.

What RKK01 says is true 🙂 At Kielder I foolishly had dry summer tyres on so the mud and sludge made interesting fast cornering 😀 I had a commendable wash out on one section due to loss of focus due to being a smidge tired.

I am bottle paranoid ie if they escape lol. After bunny hopping loads at Kielder I thought no Ta lol.

    Some good info cheers.
Tech wise I am the kind of guy who blatted around hamsterley and llandegla black on a rigid SS (not willy waving just pointing out tech doesn’t scare me) so on my trance x it will be armchair tastic 😀 I got some of those 355s from merlin to lighten the bike a bit (may go tubeless), found my camelback rogue so I don’t have the world on my back. What’s the crack re rest areas for soloists? Ie to pickup more gels, water etc.

I love my 2010 X2. It is comfy enough for MTB marathons and can rip it up in the Peaks with the bigger boys. Only things I’ve changed for personal preference are the bars, grips and saddle. Buy one!

Soooo, I am going around in circles (maybe why I need a gps 😀 )
I can’t decide between the edge 705 or the etrex 20. They both have their pros and cons i.e replaceable batteries on the etrex, mounting solution already in place with the edge.
Can folk with real world experience help??

Kaesae aka Katec bearings on eBay is your man. I think the removal tool is £25 and the bearings are £29.99 or something. He’s a top guy who will see you right.

May pass on the low friction seals then as I find the forks fine as they are. Just thought I may get a fork epiphany.
Best I get some float and 10wt green ordered then 🙂

My iPhone 3GS started doing this if it was left unattended for hours, after I upgraded the IOS.
