Thanks for the replies, unfortunately it’s close to a 2 hours drive to the nearest Alpkit store. So it’s a bit of a mission to go there (family and work). I’ve found somewhere reasonably close, where I can go and sling my leg over the Marin.

I think ive settled that 1×12/11 would do me right, as low maintenance does appeal and I am not that fussy about close road ratios. As long as I can get a move on, on the flat, I’ll be happy.

Thanks for the insight. How’s the 1x when it comes to going up and cruising along on the flat?

I had one until someone nicked it and they are great. I used to ride up a lot of stuff I probably would never have tried before. but I was very annoyed when my Shimano motor bricked itself on an update at 3 months old and there was a faff getting it sorted via Madison. I haven’t replaced the stolen one with another e-bike, as I think the tech needs to mature more. Also I am a) paranoid about it going walkies b) paranoid about it breaking out of warranty.

*dons flame suit* some of these Turkish barbers (at least around here) are fronts for other criminal “shenanigans”. That cash isn’t going to clean itself.

On Netflix don’t touch the lava is quite fun. Horrible histories always works with my 2 (and it’s sneaky education).

Or let them watch some kid play a game on YouTube! Mine are both obsessed with Minecraft, so get ideas from that.

Many thanks for this!! I needed a new stem for my P7 as the stock 50mm one is a touch too long.

Sorry for the late reply. Many thanks for that site Kimbers :) I have used it and thanks Endomick, I have never heard of ML Cycles before. I have contacted some local shops (doubt it is in the area) and have stuck it on Facebook for shares. I don’t think I will see it again, but at least it may make it more difficult to shift.

I work in IT security on the offensive /pen test side. I really do enjoy it. I would sooner prat about breaking into something than watching inane nonsense on TV.

With a Netflix sub, I got rid of my license and haven’t looked back.

I have also watched some rather random shite on there lol.

I’m personally not finding series 2 as funny. Series 1 genuinely made me howl.

First time I went to race at the indoor track at Manchester, I ended up £100 lighter due to buying Troy Lee armour.

It’s an ace track, but at speed it makes your bum twitch.

I have sold my house through them and……………………….. I think it comes down to who you get as your agent.  Mine was effing useless.  I ended up retaking my photographs as the ones he did were too dark.  You also get “lots” of time wasters as they don’t vet the viewers properly (we had someone turn up who didn’t even realise our house was a 4 bed detached).  Yes they are cheap, but they are cheap for a reason.  Personally, I would want the viewers vetted better as we lost so much time through idiots.

I have had Dyson vacuums for almost 20 years. I was not impressed with the ball one we bought a few years ago. The suction is pants (new filters and cleaning did nothing). I took a punt on a Shark (looks like a cordless but has a cord). It’s amazing the amount of dust it lifted from the carpet that the Dyson failed to do is immense.

Show me someone who is anti e-bikes and I will show you someone who can’t afford and e-bike ;)

The Lapierre looks really good, I think the tech will plateau for a good while.  My main issue (well with my Merida eOne-Twenty) is motor protection.  I took a tumble off a drop off on a steep downhill section (still getting used to the weight) and my motor casing took a hit.  Having the motors more enclosed would be great, but I guess cooling would then become and issue.  Maybe more effective waterproofing?  I believe the Bosch motors can suffer a bit in this regard?

Anyway, don’t wait buy one now they are ace!! I wish I could have got one years ago.

    Well….

I just popped into Halfords and that E-Zobop is rather good for the cash (albeit ‘kin heavy).  Decent kit on it too (OK the Recon fork is not the best).

I may see what the Bank Holiday sale yields.

I am always amused by these threads.  It’s progression and life without progression is zzzzzz.  But most of all it’s all about fun.  I don’t MTB anymore as my left knee causes me pain if I do. I am planning on getting an e-MTB next year when I have the funds, as it will allow me to get out riding again.  I couldn’t care less if someone thinks I am a “cheat”, that’s their issue not mine.  Ride whatever the hell you want, as long as it brings a smile to your face who cares?

Clark&Kent are big in the track building world .

Also try messaging your local BMX club (if you have one)

Flipped learning (groan) .I have to deal with this but with 16+. It works to a point, some students love it, others have a nightmare with it.  But it’s the new bestest thing ever and everyone needs to make it work………

Yup! 7&8 year old kids here.  It does our head in .

They seem to get some stuff that is the kind of homework you would get in 1st year secondary school.  We have some battles in in our house to get it done. I’m not surprised as 7 year old me had better things to do like, errrr be a kid and play, so I feel their pain. We already do reading and shorts periods of maths with them (like my parents did with me) .I’m not sure why they need mount homework each week .

Surely it won’t be long before all new cars come with a dash cam .It just makes so much sense

I totally agree . My car has a reversing camera and so it wouldn’t be hard for manufacturers to have it on permanently hooked up to an SSD. Much in the same way that having a camera at the front could do the same .

To get truly burnt, and smited by the “making progress” brigade I’m all for cameras, GPS, etc limiting car speeds to the road’s speed limit.

I think the lady who was sat on the side of the road after a van had hit her car and sent it spinning  The van driver didn’t stop he carried on.  Luckily for her, one of my work colleagues caught it on his dash camera, maybe that’s why .
