Just a cheap one from Amazon tbh – surprised it worked tbh as I’d only bought a new one about 2 months ago which also failed to charge, now in the bin along with the original Garmin one.
2monkeyboyjcFull MemberThey also offered a new watch at a discount for me, but I thought I’d take a punt first and try another cable rather than shell out hundreds. At worst I’d have a spare cable for the new watch.
So bought two cables from different sellers and low and behold my old watch now charges perfectly!
monkeyboyjcFull MemberI had an nv200 for a couple years, and I’d cirtainly recommend one. Was reliable, the only grievance was the lack of positive feelings from the shifter. I’ve now got a Peugeot Expert, bigger than the nv200 but still easily parkable in a standard space. It drives far nicer than the nv200, everything feels better about it. Had it 18months now with no problems.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberWe used 163kWh in July. No kids and tight as the proverbial… which helps to keep usage down.
My shop used 42kWh today….
monkeyboyjcFull MemberWas also £225 back in 2012 and is 15cm shorter in height?
monkeyboyjcFull MemberI bet it’s more than 800g
I’ll weigh it when it turns up, but the reviews I’ve seen and read suggest the weight is correct.
surely an 800g tent must be bloody flimsy
Personally I’d only be using it in good weather and ideally in sheltered spots or campsites.
A nice tent but why does it have to be blue
Completely agree, but unfortunately most sub 1kg tents are white, so blue is a good compromise and actually at night would/should work fine for concealment.
1monkeyboyjcFull MemberWe have 2 freezers and four fridges in our shop, our largest fridge which is the only open fronted, costs 1/3rd of our total energy bill to run.
Oh our bill is £600 a month…
Wondering why food costs so much now, this is one of the many reasons.
It’s also why most shops have adopted doors on the fridges – we have a new fridge ready to replace this one, but don’t have the cash needed to install it.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberThe tail pole design is not quite as good on the Phoxx as it is on the Vango Helium ul1 from what I’ve seen of the reviews – if your pitching the Phoxx in open windy spaces it allows a fair bit of noise and flap in high winds. The Phoxx (like all lightweight tents) as down sides to it’s light weight I guess. The super light weight material also lets in/out alot of light so isnt the best for privacy or lazy mornings.
On the upside, it’s very light weight and a good bit cheaper than the next 800g tent.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberYeah I cant get the link to work for some.reason but if you do a search for Oex phoxx ultralight it’ll come up.
7.5% cash back on Quidco too for those that use it.
monkeyboyjcFull Member@ewan use code EXTRA20 at checkout to get it down to £148
(Sorry, I put the wrong code in my op)
monkeyboyjcFull MemberI’ve a hope pro 5, it’s quieter than the pro 4 if that matters for you. But the DT swiss is lighter and cheaper? I’d also be tempted by the new oneup rear hub as an option, although durability hasn’t been consumer tested sufficiently yet.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberI ended up buying a Burg Wachter Sold Secure Gold 14mm Motorbike U Lock for around £16. Fits nicely in the anchor and leaves enough room for a chain without being too sloppy against the bulkhead of the van.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberReport it to the police on 101 – how are the police supposed to do their job if crimes don’t get reported? The driver could have previous convictions or go on to commit a more serious motoring offence.
As for insurance that’s completely up to you, but if you do claim your better doing it with a police crime number.
1monkeyboyjcFull MemberBanks want you to use cards – it makes them money for you to use cards, cash transactions loose them money + it’s in your pocket, not being used for them to make money.
I’ve always been shouted down on here for being pro cash…
But I’ll say again what I’ve said before. As a small business owner (less than 300k turnover). Cash works better for us, we have zero fees on cash and actually get paid to deposit it. We’ve seen a dramatic rise in Cardiff transactions and costs and decrease in cash over the last 4 years. These costs get passed to the customer.
Roughly 1.5% of every card transaction is going to a bank or card service provider – so that’s 1.5% of your paycheck every year going to a bank, for almost nothing in return.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberAlien 3 worked well as the book which was released before the film and derived from the original screen play iirc.
There’s a bunch of stuff in it that didn’t make it to the films & what we were left with was very ‘hollywood’.
Same for alien Vs predator, some of the books, actually, all of the books are better than the films.
As for the new film I’m purposely not looking at trailers so I watch it with no expectations.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberRather than change the chain ring i changed the cassette on mine from a 52t down to a 44. Paired with a 34t chainring I’ve never had an issue climbing anything.
Thinking about it, i actually bent the alloy 52t ring slightly on the cassette the bike came with which was why I changed the cassette.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberTopeak Ratchet Rocket or similar is the direction I’d go in. It’s easy to add or remove specific bit attachments for your needs etc. just add a decent small dedicated chain tool – the chain tools integrated on multi tools are always gash.
1monkeyboyjcFull MemberI rode Twrch and Cafall on Sunday – both are running well with no diversions or closures. Cafall is a little over grown in places but you can see the trail and not really a problem.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberI see no point in the bottle cage mount versions – especially when they are brightly anodised. Personally I’d go with either a hidden head tube mount or inside the frame if possible.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberWe put CCTV into the shop I own when we bought it – it’s been invaluable for investigating problems and some customer enquiries. We’ve not once had to use it for staff issues. It’s a tool that is used to make the business better – not spy on staff. I can’t see the bridge of a shop being any different.
1monkeyboyjcFull MemberSmokestone Mr Harry? Although comparatively expensive as Ti.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberThe leatt ones will only come as a package with their stems iirc.
I’ve recently bought a Ritchey 10d trail riser bar – not available in silver unfortunately (although the flat version is).
monkeyboyjcFull MemberI do find it strange that we British covert Olympic champions, no matter the sport of event, with lots of attention regardless of country of origin, yet when we have a British world champion in the same sport they’ll barely get any media attention if at all.
There are many sports I think that shouldn’t really be an olympic event, there are now almost too many sports/events/disciplines held within the Olympics imo. Cirtainly subjectively scored events are a little grey area – that would throw out most gymnastics which is a ‘traditional’ olympic sport.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberSounds promising – got back from cwmcarn this afternoon to find it still dead. I’ve another spare cable arriving tomorrow so I’ll wait for an email response from Garmin and see if other cable makes any difference.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberThanks @convert – I’ve just tried all of that, just tried sticking it on charge again with no luck.
2monkeyboyjcFull MemberJust use a local locksmith / key cutting service?
We charge for local deliveries that have a small value less than £25 as the margins make it pointless.
2monkeyboyjcFull MemberCompanies charging for small orders on their websites seems reasonable to me – they have a dealer, wholesale and retail network so it’s prob not worth their while doing small online orders. As for shipping again it’s probably mainly heavy items that are sent out with a courier rather than small package royal mail so again reasonable imo…
1monkeyboyjcFull MemberPersonally I now always add a contingency charge of 20/25% when looking at r2. If I can find it in the UK for the r2 price +20% I buy it here. If it’s something unavailable here, I budget for an extra 20% on top of the r2 price. That way I’m not shocked when the parcel force letter arrives demanding fees.
3monkeyboyjcFull MemberMy parents in law are voting there and voting Tory. Typical daily mail reading, brexit voting, ‘its the immigrants that have ruined the country’, poorly educated, poorly read, small minded, small lives lived, glass half empty god’s waiting clingons that make me proud to be British.
My Parents are also in Fareham, and have voted conservative in the past. Neither read the daily mail (torygraph or times), both are well read, but both are heavily influenced by the community in Fareham. My mum has always said in the past that SB is a ‘very good local MP’ – however my Mum was also totally unaware of SB’s voting record, until I showed it to her. Neither will be voting conservative this year (or reform).
monkeyboyjcFull MemberWould love to go, having been to several of the Bristol shows, but it’s a big it’s a big ol’ trip to Manchester for me. Would love to see Dawley Bikes stand, Actofive and Huhn Cycles are also 😍
Those that do go will have an excellent time – by far the best cycling show in the UK.
monkeyboyjcFull Memberyou can get stick on garmin mounts. no idea how durable they are
I recently tried this last week – so far I’m around 50 off road miles in with no issues.
Standard sticky Garmin mount, cheap flat backed case. I use the standard, two o-ring, Garmin mount to my toptube rather than bars.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberA bag of 250g from a good roaster costs about £10 and does 20 shots, so about 50p a shot.
I buy 1kg bags for my shops bean to cup machine £13 a bag (free postage as I’m buying 6 at a go) – but I also sell them on to customers for £15 a bag. Our big commercial machine would do 80-100 coffees out of a bag depending on drink selections and grind. Total material cost Inc water, the cup/lid and power is around 50-75p per cup.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberMTB won’t have been out of place
Yeah that’s not a route id want to have skinny gravel tyres for….
monkeyboyjcFull MemberI think it should probably be brought fully under government control
It’s interesting seeing the different party options on the PO with the GE coming up. All have said they’ll do nothing until after the enquiry and essentially it’s ‘settled down’ pr wise.
Personally I can’t see it being run any better under civil service management. But they cirtainly need to rip up the current management structure.
I may have said this in this thread before, but over 10yrs ago I worked as a project manager for a large supermarket, I used to manage retail refurbishments and new builds. I’d direct site meetings usually as the sole rep of the supermarket, we are talking between five to seven figure sum budgets.
Post office ltd would attend site with sometimes upto 6! middle management staff all with different job titles. Their proportion of the refurbishment rarely exceeded 25k (& much of their proportion of the work our shop fitters undertook). My experience is that PO ltd has historically spent money like water on staff they don’t need.
Contrast that to my experience of actually running a post office, in almost 8 years we’ve seen an area manager twice…… Both times things were promised, which have never happened.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberI hope that we have some sort of reform within the post office as well asap. Ideally post office ltd should be disbanded and some sort of co-op or employee ownership introduced. PO ltd are the cause of the candle and has been an outdated management system of the service for decades.
As I’ve said before it’s not just about the 900 convictions – all remaining 11,500 postoffices have been affected.
I’m hearing lots of stories of independent retailers with failed sales mid negotiation or huge devaluation of their business due to the scandal. Couples coming to retirement having shut their postoffices as they can’t find a buyer etc.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberDon’t think so?
I’ll have another look.
In the main drop down – ” + add another organisation”
You can also use the same bank feeds if needed and sync the accounts if needed.
monkeyboyjcFull MemberCan’t you tag it on your existing Xero subscription?
Pretty sure you can tailor the fees depending on business size and type and also gain discount for multiple businesses?
monkeyboyjcFull MemberYesterdays interview of a postmistress on Jeremy Vine is worth a listen – from about 43min
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0020233?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-mobile
She makes many a good point about how postoffices are currently run, especially rural and isolated offices (like mine). Our office actually makes 4p a first class stamp and 2p a second – the postoffice, although it’s what we are known for would not exist without our retail side which is actually the part that pays the bills. Our postoffice is run on commission and makes the shop around £4-500 a month.
