No, but full fat bikes will get lighter and replace the half fat verity. The AMflow is a prime example

    6. Will depend on the bike and design of the motor. If the BB is low and the motor has an other inch of material it will cirtainly bash rocks more frequently than a regular bike. I’ve destroyed a guard on my ebike and the stock motor cover is supposed to be quite brittle. A mate has a full metal plate but that seems worse imo as it reduces ground clearance further and can cause warranty issues depending on where it’s mounted. One bash too it also had us trying to reattach his plastic motor guard for half an hour mid ride as it pushed if ouf of shape. I’m sure if he didn’t have it fitted the clearance would have been improved.

If you read Hannah’s piece, I got the impression there was quite a backlash from the riders over how the live event was run. It’s so exposed and so dangerous in even light winds that riders not risking lives over a comp they couldn’t win was a good call imo. However the riders have had 8 days for practice and building features – building a takeoff on finals day is taking the p.

I do think the format needs to completely change next year, after the debacle over Brendon’s line. The line build also needs to be part of the overall judging (not just have an award for dig team), how unique the line is is and how many other riders use each of the features. It seems exposure, technical skill and originality are no longer part of Redbull vision for rampage.

    Then the judges shaft him

Yeah – just shows once again Rampage can’t score anything for technical features. It’s all about the tricks and whips. Typical American BS is all about the V8 PoWeR rather than the cornering finesse.

I’d say Evri just for the erratic quality – we have a good driver for a while then he gets put on a different round and we have a terrible one. I quite often get parcels delivered to a house with the same name, 6 miles away.

Royal mail and parcel force are excellent for me – but that’s prob because I run a post office ?

Tbh I don’t wouldn’t be bothered by the looks of it works significantly well. But… It’s in a crowded marketplace of similar bikes that all seem to claim the same thing, in which case I can’t see myself buying one above and beyond other brands. Love the BB pivot, alway wondered why other brands haven’t already adopted this approach for years.

R2 bike have a minimum order value of over £135 so there is no getting around it with r2.

That’ll be why I stopped using them then ?

Not unless it’s under the €135 cap and still cheaper than the UK. My last order was January 2023…

I’d have thought after shipping fees, vat on both the forks & shipping and the  duty your looking at close to £375 / £400.

Too many 2022/3/4 bikes still selling through and your right at the transition over to 2025 stock.

others have replies that they thought they were terrifying. I suspect it’s the type of mud.

    Very much so…

I’ve done an couple of xc races on mine in the mud, I was the only fatty and the only one to ride all of both courses with now running (and yes it was quicker to ride). However if it’s the type of mud that the fat tyres sit on top of and float, then it can be a little sketchy. I would suggest that those claiming fat bikes are no good in mud are more than likely using OEM Jumbo Jim’s which are imo only good for dry fast conditions.

So it sounds like the full 5″ tyre/set up is too much for UK riding?

I run a 4.8” fat Albert on the front, but only because I ride full rigid – if I used a Sus for I’d go back down to 4″ or below.

The extra float and comfort of the big tyre is great, but it’s a damn heavy tyre and sometimes can be just too much in the mud as you sit on top of it rather than cut through – I’ve also found this to be the case in UK snow where id have to push through the powdery snow which was a massive energy drain.

I’ve an orbea 2022 wild and have had no issue at all with the motor or other ebike components in the last 15months and 1000miles. It’s an amazing bike and rides great.

My only regret is that I put a bunch of high end drivetrain parts on it that I had spare, and now after 1000miles they’ve all worn out – ebikes really do eat drivetrains.

The newest lightweight full power bikes that are coming out, like the AMflow, really show where ebikes are going. Just need to mix if into a package with a potion mgu.

Yep, year 9 of fatbike ownership, it’s great for my local byways, bridalways and single-track and induces a big grin on every ride. I’m on my third fatty, and this ones a keeper.

I’ve a 160mm travel ebike for bigger days out or bike park days, but I’ve done SC and enduro races on the fat bike as well as longer rides. When I had just the one bike I had also had the option of a Sus fork and 29r wheels just to make it a little more versatile – but I’ve now settled on the above set up as it suits my local riding.

Took it to FoDfest yesterday, and I’ll admit it did show it’s (or my) limitations against a full suspension enduro bike where I’d had a small crash on a rooty section I can ride easily on my ebike. But I had just as much fun.

I love my expert, drives more like a car than most vans I’ve driven, and has a far far better gear box than the nv200 it replaced.

But – go for the 2.0 not the 1.6 and watch for the adblue faults. If you want to have more than  one passenger get a 2nd row of seats as the three up front is very cramped.

I’m more inclined to have a belief debate with them than my wife, i try to convert them to atheism. The wife just says “we are very happy with our faith and hope they have a nice day”.

I can’t really be rude to them as they will knock on our house door, and then go into the shop next door (which we run and is attached to our house) and buy coffee’s ?

Ooo strange feeling seeing my bike up there. Not to self: must make time to get it built back up and riding again.

Ulysses 31 was by far my favourite cartoon – used to get up at 6am on a Saturday to watch that on channel 4.

    Probably followed by Dogtanian.

I bought some bananaoptic’s from a PSA on here. They rattle with one of my lids but a small piece of 3m rubber tape sorted that. Far, far cheaper that the current crop of ‘brand inflation’ riding glasses / sunglasses on the market.

Anyone else remember the Fau’Oakley Vs Oakley’s thread on here 10+ years ago?

I’ve a Gerber Vise. Not had to use it yet though – it’s so small I’m not sure how practical it’ll be in a MTB application. The keyring clip is also unreliable, snapped after a couple weeks.

I’d be interested in the battery post interface too – biggest issue with all types of AXS are the push pin battery contacts which are a pita to replace on the dropper. The AXS dropper Is just about home serviceable, but you need to know what your doing and have specific tools.

The amount of Axs droppers that have appeared on eBay over the last 18months that have the stanchion scratch led up to hell because the 600hr service interval was ignored has dramatically increased.

I think Fox needs to explain the £&€ difference to the $ price pretty quickly – you can get a flight to the US and buy one there for the difference in cost…

Now I love a wireless dropper, but I can’t see what advantages having fox written on the side will have over the competition at (in some cases) less than half the cost.

I can see the current crop of 12 or 14k “superbikes” quickly becoming 20k in the next couple of years…

This is a really really tricky one as someone that owns and runs a food shop (very small convenience / village shop)…

We’d love to sell more healthy foods, however they are vastly more expensive than hpf’s. I’m asked why we don’t sell things like cereal bars (which are still an hpf) instead of chocolate – it’s because I can’t sell through a case without half of them going off. The food industry, and in particular convenience foods is almost 100% geared towards sugar and hpf’s the trade magazines advertise and promote only unhealthy foods.

Imo it’s not a foods industry issue it’s an entire society issue. It needs changing, but not through the food industry, do it in schools. Didn’t Glasgow has managed to change how society viewed unhealthy foods by education over the last 20 years or so rather than enforcement.we need to do this at a national level.

I  almost immediately changed the cassette to a 11/42 (12 sp) on the back. I found that a 50 or 52t was just silly and not needed.

I had a spare cassette in the parts bin to let me do this – a stupidly expensive CNC job, and after 900miles the aluminium section needs replacing (£150 for two cogs!). So yes, I’d recommend a cheaper, more durable group set.

In 900 miles I’ve needed to replace, frame bearings, lower headset bearing, rear mech (Axs) & half the cassette…

I like mine. Only criticism is that wearing with just on one of my helmets they rattle against it (stuck some 3m rubber tape on helmet).

The interview with Isabella Tree after the film was probably about half an hour long and really interesting. I don’t know if most cinemas show it but I did find it helpful.w

The cinema I watched it in gave it as an optional extra with a mini break between the main film and interview. They also had a live q&a with local green party rep – the film was shown as part of a local green festival the council had organised.

We went to the cinema but it was on limited release ‘art house’ showings at the time. It was also randomly shown in our local Vue for one screening with absolutely no local marketing.

I saw this a few weeks ago, great film and an amazing project!

6inches of Soil” is another great film following three types of regenerative farms/projects, and imo a more sustainable and compromisable future than the project the knepp estate is doing.

    https://m.imdb.com/title/tt31139218/

The estate I live and work in started regenerative farming about 18 months ago and the negativity from other farmers in the area is absolutely huge.

The section in Wilding when they talk about the pigs sticking to unploughed sections of the estate is quite obvious in the village I live in – Mole hills in all the gardens and verges, but not in a single field of pasture. Hopefully this will change over the coming years.

We went with a pre booked tour from our hotel, in a two for one Pompeii & Mt vesuvius tour. We regretted it a little. Ended up following a man with an umbrella around Pompeii in a whistle stop fashion, felt like only a few minutes at each of the main sites to see and him shouting out info on each area which was easily available to everyone else anyway. He was very knowledgeable and answered any questions etc though. But we both felt a little rushed and didn’t get to spend enough time at the bits we were interested in. My advice is to just buy entry tickets and an English guide book or leaflet.

Avoid mt vesuvius – it’s just a big hole and a very hot climb. If do go and have a look either bring walking poles/sticks or rent from the stalls at the carpark. (And take lots of water).

I had good results from the crank brothers drop bar lever – just be really careful with the cable route, as with any similar lever. Any tight runs will make the lever stiff to use.

15cm small aluminium jobbies – come with their own little roll top (money bag style) bag. Look like they’ll be fine tbh.
