i have enabled netbios over tcpip but nothing changed.

Sort of the same boat as you, but without causing a sh*T storm on here i my opinion if the dog is being left at home on it’s own for a considerable amount of time it is totally unfair and should not be done.

hence why im waiting until our circumstances change.

    (*just my opinion)

did you try and wake it up?

“Life is just a series of peaks and troughs, and you don’t whether you’re in a trough until you’re climbing out, or on a peak until you’re coming down. And that’s it, you know, you never know what’s round the corner. But it’s all good. “If you want the rainbow you’ve got to put up with the rain”. Do you know which “philosopher” said that? Dolly Parton. And people say she’s just a big pair of tits.”

i was 18 and still cant remember how we found the venue, back in the glory days before satnav, all we had was the tiny map on the ticket.

epic gig, never seen them since as it will destroy the memory of them at their height.

    cheers guys/girls…

the poweredge is starting to make that horrible ‘chugging’ fan noise…

i have the system state backed up from last night and all files from it, boss has been sent the Dell quote and its his shout.

really dont know what to do until he decides… did warn him there was a chance of this happening..

    another stupid question…

i could make everyone log on locally to their PC’s then just copy their files into a folder on their C:, trouble is what about the shared drives only for certain users?

    sh*Te!!!

What is your current domain 2003?

With 23 users and 50 shares I would be v tempted to just go for a brand new 2012 Domain, doesn’t seem like it would be too much work. There is a lot to be said for a nice clean AD.

hi, yep its server 2003, i dont think DCPROMO will even be that easy?

    cheers all ‘again’.

    In layman’s terms…

If i was to do it the lazy way…..

    1 – New server arrives
2 – Shut down existing old Poweredge 800 (the DC)
3 – Set-Up the NEW server as the DC, giving it a brand new DOMAIN name, install AD, DNS etc etc.
4 – Set-up all users again on the new AD
4 – Go to all PC’s join NEW domain.

Would all PC’s still connect to their shared drives on the Windows Storage server? I guess not as the storage servers permissions on each folder would be linked to the ‘turned off’ original DC’s AD?

I know there is in theory a much easier way as stated above but… I’m scared 😳

    cheers

    cheers all,

    i’ll give more info…

    current servers

Server 1 -Dying Dell poweredge 800 – It is still running but has flashing orange light which indicates power/fan failure – Main job is the DC with SAGE accounts installed and one other departments data combined only about 40gb of data on a mirrored 120gb RAID –

    Server 2
    – Dell NX200 Storage server 2008 – all other files 1tb drive loads of space

I can easily move SAGE over, the reason i didnt was not to keep all eggs in one basket.

i think your right, my idea of settings everything back up on the new DC
will take alot longer than i have in my head, everything is NTFS with about 50 shares.

and also agree dont think i’ll go the SBS route, just a standard server

I’m good on backups as ive been burnt years ago , you can never have enough backups!

Server i had quote back last year were..

    PowerEdge T310 Tower Chassis,
    Intel Xeon X3430 Processor (2.40GHz, 4C, 8M Cache, 95W TDP, Turbo),
    DDR3-1333MHz

still waiting for the prices from Dell, i quickly read up on Dcpromo to be honest i think i’ll try and set the new server up with all new users from scratch on the weekend when nobody is in and demote the old one.

good shout about number of users though as we are looking to get ‘new’ people in over the next 6 months.

    cheers,

been reading up on it all, CLOUD scares me… our internet does drop now and again and if it was down for a long time you can’t do anything.

they do a new version of SBS now called server essentials, just the licensing is the killer

top gear has gone downhill, but i still watch it.

the ‘news’ section on the last episode was dire, i fast forward through ‘star in a car’ and the best bits are when the do a race together.

    the specials are great though.

look up Dom jolly’s book (travelling to various mad places), he wrote about taking one of the tourist buses that go there…

they parked about a mile out and walked a bit further the guide got the Geiger counter out and it went mental…

im 38 the wife 39, our little girl is 2 in june… its been hard, wouldnt change it for the world but i do wish we’d done it when we were a bit younger.

as a side note its amazing peoples reaction when we say that were not having another… was there a memo sent round that i didnt get that states you MUST have two kids?

i am honestly going to punch the next person who says “about time you banged another out aint it?” NO **** off, 1- whats it got to do with you and 2 – We may not be able to have another.

I wouldn’t take advice off any parent who hasn’t, within the last week, wanted to kill their offspring with their bare hands. As threat would indicate that they’re either not in control of their mental faculties, or either themselves or their children are heavily sedated. Probably both.

Its an indictment of how loveable my kids are the majority of the time that they’re still aliv

couldnt have said it better myself..

cot bed is the way to go imo.

ref prams, dont get too worked up on fancy ones, we had a quinny and hated it – form over function (just my view – i know this is a sensitive subject 😉

you can pay £500+ and a £150 will do exact same job, we’ve been there and done it 😉

depending on how ‘materialistic’ you are, have a look on ebay for prams, nothing wrong with secondhand if its been looked after, same with car seats.

    your not alone…

2 years till the big 40, few minutes ago i was reminiscing about the ‘old days’, listening to music and found this on the web, actually work there on the main bar and had an amazing weekend…

the wife still takes the piss that 90% of my ipod music is early 90’s stuff… pearl jam, stone temple pilots….

my first proper mountain bike (well to me ) was this…

*by the way what happend to rear derailleur guards?

As regards the fire fight across London, what the chuff happened to the villain who escaped on the push bike?

glad me and the wife aint the only ones…

i was actually p*ssing myself, ray winston must have taken 400 pot shots at the villain and must have hit every hand rail, wall, sign in the area.

as for the ‘plan b’ guy, i think that will be his last film, was he p*ssed during filming or stoned off his face or does he always talk like that?

also theres always something gross about a fat old bloke enjoying sexy time with a lovely young lady aswell.

you really wonder why they bother sometimes…

“Benz” very interesting that you fitted non OEM shocks, a lot of people who’ve had the problem have fitted ‘well known’ non OEM ones and never looked back. (if you don’t mind how much were they, DIY job or independent)

can anyone confirm if middle rear seat has a belt or not, or is it just an armrest?

    £70 pm

jaysus take some options off, we have basic sky tv, unlimited broadband, phone and rental all for £36 a month. call then and haggle if you have the balls to be very cheeky.

tried to go down the humax route as mum wanted shot of sky, but the simplicity of sky menu/setup cant be beaten imo and she went back.
