My wife has a 2004 civic & had the same problem.
It was a build up in the throttle body where the butterfly closes.
Curing it was as simple as removing the air intake pipe (from air filter) opening the throttle butterfly manually & spraying in some carb cleaner & wiping out the body. Problem was solved & throttle now smooth as silk.

cheers, i take it when you say smooth as silk it was light pedal compared to heavy as it was before. as i said i did give the throttle plate a blast earlier and it seemed to fix the sticking at the start of the pedal stroke but it still feels ‘heavy’ in general.

think it could be garage time.

    cheers all,

yeah i need to get the cable totally out (both ends), i didnt have the balls to take it off from the pedal end incase i snapped something or couldnt get it back on! seems fidldly job as the cable comes through bulkhead through a palstic clip through hole in pedal then seems to clip into a little barrel thing.

    Cheers,

when i lubed the cable i took it off from the throttle end and sprayed a load of lube down it and hooked it up vertical to let gravity do its job.

after 20 mins i pulled and pushed the cable and it was smooth as hell. (new cable direct from Honda is £43.00 only place i could find one)

am i correct in saying the throttle cable is basically the same a bike cable?

ive checked everything from the pedal to the throttle body and it all ‘seems fine’ but surely it shoudlnt feel this heavy.

there are a few HRV’s around my area but i dont want to flag one down and ask ‘can i have a go in yours’ as i’ll probbaly get arrested. 😆

runs on thin air, very easy to service as oil filter is on top of the engine block.(so less for for idiots like me!)

    wow nice house!

best of luck, i’d go with bathroom first, dont go all guns blazing live in it for a while as you will probably change your mind on alot of things!

    Its not hard…

ive perfected it over the years.

makes no difference if eggs come from the fridge imo.

anyway… small saucepan only about 6″ diameter,

boil kettle, stick water in pan just as it about to boil crack two eggs in and switch off gas/electric, leave for 3-5 minutes.

    job done

we have the very basic ‘ENTERTAINMENT’ package and its £21.00 a month

    + £7.50 unlimted internet

    + 12.50 phone rental

we have the free evening and weekend calls aswell

im still trying to persuade the wife to chuck sky but typically most of the stuff she records is on FX and other mad channels.

you cant beat the simplicity of the sly interface IMO, but like you freesat is the way i want to go.

    hi cheers for the reply…

don’t laugh but where exactly is the ‘licence manager’? the GUI for server 2012 is a million miles away from 2003 😳

    thanks

    not a nice situation…

Can’t you go round and just let them know that your wife and you will be looking after the house for your parents from now on, and that any enquiries regarding buildings/party walls/boundaries etc have to go through you two? Do it all friendly like…”any ongoing issues I can tell you to **** off about help with at the moment?”

good suggestion and go down this route..

6ft is the max fence height round our way, i actually went to the local wood place and wanted 7ft cut he advised against it.

theres a c*ck that drives around our way in a bright orange range rover with black stripes with ford ST logos on it?

there was a classic the other week, think it was a V12 merc ‘black’ super sporty thing (think top gear had one on few years back)was lovely looking from the front as i pushed the trolley past they had stuck one of these on the back…

i nearly fell on the floor in shock, the old saying is true money cant buy you taste, why in the world would you stick one of those things on a lovely car???

each to their own i guess!

i sold my car and did my CBT and got a 50cc a year before my daughter was born to save some cash.

i would rather cut off a limb than go anywhere near a motorbike again, i didnt really enjoy it at all.

you are totally invisible to car drivers, lucky i only did a 8 mile round commute which was enough. you can be the best biker in the world but it means jack sh*t if an idiot pulls out of a junction and doesnt see you.

The CBT imo it does not prepare you for the road, looking back i think only certain people with bigger balls than me can be competent riders.

i see learners out on the road now and cringe.

only advice i can give is dont buy cheap, get a good helmet and good boots, gloves, coat.

if you like it i would save yup and do your full test a.s.a.p

    good luck!

the diesel doing short trips kills them is b*lox IMO, we have run 1.4 & 1.6 tdci fiestas on short trips for years and they have been fine.

BUT… could be different for ‘fancier’ diesels.

I don’t get it either, as said above. …

to cause the seller to have undue hope and optimism for their sale muhuhahahahahah!

its almost as if people don’t really want to sell the item, I paid 100 quid for it 20 years ago noway am I selling it for less than 90.

the classic is buyit now but also a starting bid.

been using ebay for years and imo 99p starting bid no reserve gets you waaaay better results. (of course with a few phantom bids)

i’m probably talking bollox but after reading all the above the ‘feeling’ i get through the steering wheel does feel as if ‘something’ is slipping then catching again… so hard to describe!

Fluid level might be OK but might need draining and refilling.

i remember reading ages ago power steering fluid gets seriously dirty/nasty so this could be a cheap job to do first maybe?

    cheers again for the replies

Tracking just makes sure the front wheels are pointing in the same direction, 4 wheel alignment checks camber/castor/toe of each individual wheel and also their relation to the centre line of the vehicle, so will show up any problems with damaged suspension components etc.

is this specialst garage stuff/main dealer?

    cheers again,

four wheel alignment, not that tracking rubbish the tyre chains offer

whats the difference compared to just having tracking done?

big gervais fan here, nothing will surpass the genius that was the office.

Derek is very good though, it was still a bit ‘too office’ in parts but i guess thats what he does best.

he is very ‘marmite’ but as he says himself most of his backlash happens becuase “People confuse the subject of a joke with the target of a joke”

im wound up again now…. i knew i shouldnt have read this…

there was another classic on abovetopsecret… there was strange swirling lights in the sky above finland and all manner of totally mental ideas were put out there… ‘portals to planet zargon 56a’ etc, etc…. it went on for days…

turns out the russians messed up a new rocket launch and it went waaaaay off course.

im suprised they havent gone off on one yet about the russian meteorite suggesting its was a space ship carrying dead robotic rats from a distant planet.

this has been doing the rounds for years, amazing what people will read into things….

if you want a laugh go onto abovetopsecret.com its amazing! the sh*t some people will believe.

    i agree with the above…

if you have an hour to kill and to see the extent of how truly mental people can be watch a video called ‘loose change’

    heres the link…
    AMAZING

i finally cracked when one person suggested explosives were planted in the twin towers WHEN BEING BUILT!!! to bring it down years later!!

    cheers all,

got it sorted, i changed the ip, dns, gateway of the file sever to the same setup as the pc’s.

then as above set the share up with the ip address and it pops up with a login box then lets me get on.

    phew….
    thanks again

tired that but sadly doesnt work, i noticed when i look in the network tree i can see our domain, double click it and it only brings up the pc’S (WIN7 & XP) that have the above static settings.

it also does not show up the server, which is still set as DHCP so does not have the above ip settings.

    two stupid ideas…

give the file server the same ip settings as above

plug the server directly into the bt hub which in turn is plugged into the main switch.

think im peeing in the wind here 🙁

    another point,

to enable internet access and email (pop3 via local outlook connecting to bt) ive manually given everyone static IP 192.168.1.** and gateway and dns as 192.168.1.254 and it seems to pull it from the actual bt hub.
