In a surprise press statement, Sony today revealed its much anticipated uber-racer Gran Turismo 5 for the PlayStation 3 has been delayed with a new release date as yet unsettled. The game had been due in Japan this March, with a US and European release date targeting summer 2010.

'To Be Announced', that's the racer's new status, and while Sony isn't saying why the game's been delayed, they are apologizing for the unanticipated hangup.

If you've followed the game, you know it's been in development forever, that it's cost incredible sums (the game's 'godfather' Kazunori Yamauchi put the figure at $60 million as of last November), that it's supposed to be breathtakingly realistic with 1,000 cars and over 20 track locales, and that the skeletal prologue version released over two year ago has itself sold around 3.5 million copies to date.

Sony told game news site CVG that GT5's delay applies to the Japanese market alone. Japan's the only territory where the game had received a firm release date.

    FFS!!!!!

congrats mate, were expecting our firstjune 6th… long way to go yet and still a bit paranoid talking about it..

do you have any mates that have recently had babies?

we already have a load of 'hand me downs'

    car seat
    pram
    high chair
    lots of clothes

then again you may want to buy all new stuff, i dont mind hand me downs

ive really noticed recently as im getting used to the idea how snobbish some mates are, well snobbish is probably too storng a word but some buy eveyrthing from asda/tesco etc while other only buy in mammas and pappas/ Gap for kids and sort of 'give a funny look' when other mates have cheaper clothes on…

each to their own i guess 😉

i thought he was a knob but saw him on jonathon ross back last year and i was quite surprised, he seemed vey genuine an down to earth and was quite funny.

as for the rap/hip hop type music i cant stand that type of stuff but each to his own.

yes it does look nuts, apparently you can do a full 'pimp my ride' and stick pictures of your face and other horrible things on the side of your motor… formula 1 and rally car manufacturers have all signed up for it aswell and when manufacturers bring out new cars they will be made available to download.

i'll never forget how long it took to compelte the beginner lessons on the PS2 version…. remember the dog viper you had to keep in a tight 360 circle (or did i dream that?)

Can recommend the Fiesta Zetec 1.4 TDCi. I got my wife one from motorpoint last year, 5000 miles on clock for £7k. Not in the same league as a vRS for speed but it does 50+mpg around town, can cruise at 80 no problems and having the quick clear heated windscreens in this weather is great! They are not much smaller than the Focus. Also road tax is £35 a year ( I never tried asking for 6 months I wonder if its half?).

aldomac be careful with the 1.4tdci (i think they changed the head on newer models) my wifes 52 reg had major problems with the injectors, if you ever get a whiff of fuel in the cabin get it checked out.

it cost us over £500 to have 2 injectros replaced along with a few other bits. also keep an ey on the power steering fluid, ours leaked and we had to have the steering rack sorted.

again i think all this was sorted in newer models, didnt want to scare you, our could have been a simple friday afternoon build 😉

i feel your pain on the selection process, the wife wants a new car.

we are currently looking at a 1 year old Focus Zetec S (with the nice bodykit) tonnes of kit with it aswell BUT too big for you.

I was set on the new Fiesta but it is too small.

What about a Fabia VRS 1.9TDI goes like stink, heres on on autotrader… im actually tempted!

    Mmmmmm

wow didn't think this would provoke such discussion…

    it is hard one..

i actually got loads of work done today without the rest of the freaks in.

its just the excitment and look of glee in their faces as the first flake of snow drops down and they start hatching their escape plans…. its like they have a god given right to go home

by the way i have no chance of taking the day off, the boss is a family member. maybe thats why i take it a bit more personally i guess.

i reckon the best solution is that the itme you leave is noted and then added up till the end of the normal working day, then you have to work this back during the year, if yuo dont it is taken out of your annual leave.

and as ive said i bet you a million pounds the 'offenders' will work the full day

    hey ho!

i live about 10 miles from Llanwern, the main roads are ok at the moment, but there is 'apparently' about 30cm of snow to come tonight/early morning

play it by ear mate i'd say and stick to main roads M6/M5/M4, oh and good luck

dont talk to me about wisdom teeth, when i was 17 i had 3 out in one go and i was a mess for a week, couldnt face the dentist until 18 years later when the wife made me go, thankfully all i needed was a scale and polish.

i remember paying at the recpetion after the work had been done and blood running down my mouth then driving home and mum screaming when i got to the door. next morning when i lookind in the mirror you couldnt see either of my ears as the swelling was that bad

the dentist was a right pikey mind and apparenlty 'back then' you should not have had more than 2 taken out in one sitting, i can still remember him with his knee on my chest pulling at the top right one….

the cracking sound is the worst along with the injection….

    you did ask 😉

were in the same boat as you.

were probably going with a 09 reg Focus Zetec s 1.6

mainly because ford gave us a great part ex on the old fiesta.

The focus has the most kit for the money.

    BUT……

as someone above mentions the Honda Civic is a very close second 😉

    and the Mazda 3……

its a pain in the arse choosing a new car..

we have a baby due aswell.

    family arguments

my god where do i begin!

my brother in law is a fekin c*ck! he has no balls and is ruled by his evil wife.

my in laws (his parents) have done loads for them, looking after the baby and even picking her up in the snow when they couldnt get back from work.

anyway yesterday it kicked off, he 'thought' we were going over his house to see them exchange presents when infact he was suppose to come over to the mother inlaws (his mums). mother in law phones up and he kicks off on the phone sayin they will open presents another day…

trouble is we had to go to a family party then, where he sat with his back to the mother in law and his evil wife had a face like a slapped arse… the rest of the family 'got the vibe' and the night ended with nothing said.

the thing that winds me up is why doesnt somebody say something??? the in laws dont wont to wreck their already fragile relasionship with the 3 year olf niece as the brother in law is the type to hold a grudge for years and could easily never speak to them again.

    familys eh!…….

christmas really does amplify this type of crap…..

It's not as clear cut as that. When ours broke the only symptom was an annoying rattle, which after a lot of invesigation turned out to be a bit of the spring rattling in the mount. You'd have never have spotted it driving the car

and yes thank you PP that sums up exactly what happened, i bid you a good christmas sir

You didn't notice that the suspension had collapsed?!

thanks for your helpful comment anyway.

well slap me in the face wih a wet fish….

    we were all wrong!……. 😉

turns out it was the front passnger side suspension coil had snapped!!!

RAC man said it was probably on the way out, the freezing ice helped it along.

the slapping noise was the arch rubbing the wheel, the rubber smell well… was the tyre.

i actually found part of the coil down the road which hit the rear tyre causing a flat.

garage reckon £100 all in to fit a new one.

    merry christmas one and all…

update… (god im sad but giving joy to those in work as im sat here waiting for RAC mans call)

called a freind of a friends, freind who works in a garage to check if we can take it down.

milesey, funnily enough the guy in the garage said the exact same thing as you, last night was hell of alot colder than previous nights, he said it is more than likely the waterpump.

thing is the garage closes at 5pm then shuts until the 5th, ah well atleast she will be in a warm garage with friends 😉

    will keep you updated!

as a massive fan it has gone down the pan a little the last 2 series…

the stardom has obviously gone to their heads, james may is best suited to the stuff he is doing now the 'toy'programmes are good.

as for hammond well he's just a small bloke.

there are still classic moments but i think the production has gone too 'fancy' maybe…

to be honest the worst part of the show in my eyes is the star in a car, they should use this section to do 'normal cars'

i did like 5th gear as more of a 'laymans' car programme. its a pity top gear can't go back to that a bit more. but then again thats what it was trying to get away form with the big revamp??

mate have a chat with her, get away somewhere and clear her head.

trust me the final straw came for me/us when i heard my wife crying one morning while getting ready for work, sorting her hair out and a huge clump came out in her hand.

that was the last straw i told her she wasn't going in and that was that, they didn't even give her the decency of a leaving interview because they knew what they would face.

her immediate manager even came round whent he doc had signed her off, he thought i was going to batter him as he didnt know i was going to be there. (naturally i didnt) but it was good getting over our point. not that it mattered as he didnt do **** all about the situation.

it still boils my blood thinking about it, but i dont let on to her.

life has changed, you just have to make the jump, things will work out, family will help when needed,

    best of luck

i fell your pain and speaking from experience…

My wife used to be a branch manager for one of the large banks, the biggest branch in our area infact with about 14 staff.

it all started off amazing, interviews were good (5 of them!!) training was great, pay was great, bonus was great but after 6 months it started to get nasty, stupid targets to hit, her area manager was a right ***t! but looking back just doing his job as the one above him was turning the thumb screws.

to cut along story short we experienced many of the points you have raised, infact it got that bad with stress my wifes hair started to fall out!

in the end we had a huge chat and she packed the job in, took 6 months off to get her head sorted, saw the doctor and nearly went to therapy as it did nearly push her over the edge.

3 years later the hair has grown back thankfully, she is now doing a job as an admin manager in a tiny accountants firm and ive never seen her happier.

to be honest we do miss the 36k salary and it has been a bit of a struggle financially, but i'd rather see my wife happy and not on the verge of a serious breakdown. end of the day its about being happy, we've learnt the hard way but we enjoy our life now more than we ever did back in the dark days.

my advice, as hard as it may seem with commitments etc, GET HER OUT NOW!

a bit crap but it still brings a tear to my eye.

years ago i used to work in a really poncey investment fund place in Dublin. The owner was Irish version of Alan sugar so he would take about 30 of us to his favourite very expensive restaurant.

the other IT guy fancied one of the HR girls so after silly amounts of very expensive wine i convinced him 'he was in', he then proceeded to get under our table and try and make his way to her table and pop up next to her with a rose in his mouth (each table had a rose in a little glass vase)

he attempts this butpops up at the bosses table with the CEO and a load of other toffs, craps himself and knocks a load of wine over them.

(you had to be there really!)
