fingers crossed my first child is due june 6th.

my wife is going to go back to work after 9 months to 4 days a week (hopefully 3)

my mother is going to have the baby one day.

my mother in law is going to have the baby 2 days

we are then going to put the baby into childcare one day a week. not a creche as such but a woman who is qualified to look after children and has done so for 20 years as we feel this is a better environment compared to a 'classic' creche as it is more 'one on one' attention. as there are horror stories round our way of many places having 18 > 20 year olds looking after children having no experience

i have loads of mates who all have different views on the whole 'child minding' situation.

my parents struggled like hell when i was little, my mum gave up work to look after me until i went to junior school then only worked 2 days a week.

what i dont agree on is what my brother in law and his wife do, their now 3 year old from the age of 6 months was and has been in child care from 8am till 5.30pm 5 days a week… that is just wrong but i stay out of it, their poor girl at the age of 3 can hardly string a sentence together.

another mate takes his 2 days a week and he said it is terrible to see kids left there after 4.30 crying wondering where their parents are when everyone else comes to collect theirs.

society has changed dramatically since i was young, but hey… the conservatives are going to change all that right! 🙄

Freesat HD PVR for £200 and have a better service than sky can offer for a lot less cash.

i see your point with freesat, my mother had a freeVIEW PVR and the quality was crap as it kept freezing, the picture would freeze but sound would carry on.

im still not convinced of the quality of recordings and the menus on the PVR boxes though, even the high end ones dont guarantee you better quality.

you can't knock the sky+ box itself.

by the way we pay £18 a month

do alot of research before you get a PVR

Used to have Sky+ and found them to have the WORST customer services ever

interesting nothing but praise for them here.

just an adder, i lived in Christchurch for 6 months in 2004, it was very similar to U.K in terms of feel.

i was into IT and got put forward for quite a few jobs similar to that back in the U.K.

its very laid back over there which i loved, i would move back at the drop of a hat if i could prersuade the wife. you real feel apart form the rest of the world out there which i also loved.

i had a very similar problem, if you dont have aHR dept like us, just go to the next senior manager and put a formal complaint in, they HAVE TO follow strict guidelines.

they thought i was taking the p*ss and just 'spouting off' until i produced a 12 page word doc with a list of 'events' with the problem manager.

once they realised i was serious they had to follow a set plan, the manager has been told not to contact me directly which suits me fine.

i applied for an IT job in the local Police headquarters, i had an interview nearly 2 months AFTER i sent the app form in!!

went in there at 1.30, WOKE UP at 6.40!! the place was all locked up, i set the alarm off, police were called out as i strolled out of the side door into the carpark.. i was gutted that nobody actually noticed where i was or cared??!!

been looking in the s.wales area where i live for the last few months, heres my advice.

dont go to 'carcraft' in Newport (s.wales) bunch of pikey scum bags who latch onto you the second you walk in and dont leave you alone

'motorpoint' in Newport are much better, they leave you alone to view the cars and wonder round. you then give a few details so you can get the keys to a few cars and have a little drive round the 'internal' compound' they DONT let you go out onto the road. you can drive off the same day, obviously with credit checks etc.

there are really good deals there but the big thing i would warn you about is about is the warranties, the car could have been sat round for ages and only has a year left or registered a while back even though its a new plate.

i know many people who have bought from them and had no problems.

the carshop in cardiff is ok aswell.

saying that we just took the wifes fiesta into the local ford dealer and their part ex was £600 more than motorpoints…

ours is due in june fingers crossed june 6th, i have 2 weeks parternity booked but dont know wether to book 2 more weeks off making a month.

mate suggested just take the 2 weeks paternity to start with as the baby will be sleeping most of the time and you'll be hanging round, leave the extra leave for later on when its a bit older.
