Sorry to hear about your wife’s accident. Hope she is ok, and has not lost her confidence.

This though, is exactly the reason why I don’t want my boys (11and 13) cycling on the path, it would be all too easy to forget to look when crossing a minor road this way. You now are not cycling on the major road next to the path (where you would have priority over traffic from a minor road, but would still look), but you are now CROSSING the road.

    And so should,

    Stop Look Listen…. live.

Sorry, sadly her fault I think and the driver may claim for damage? Hope she has insurance, hearing this I am glad I sorted out my sons ride membership so he is covered.

Get her straight back on, and perhaps get her to do some training with an instructor? I did a course with my son before he started riding to school, really was good.

To be honest, don’t want to spend a huge amount as there is 4 of us and I only use it once or twice a year, just want something that fits well. Not really want to go over £100.

Had a spesh deviant, quite liked it but the retainer at the back was rubbish and hurt a bit.

Any you know of the have different sized cheek pads? The 661 carbon fits great on my head, but not just squashed cheeks but hurts my jaw (unless I don’t close my mouth when wearing it).

Oops, I ride a 15.5″ stiffee, was green, but powder coated purple years ago! Just had to be purple….

Also have a nukeproof mega, no too keen on the name, but does not bother me.

Mine was replaced years ago when the DMF went (does not make sense to change the a DMF without also changing the clutch) at about 125000 miles.

    1.9 TD zafira on a 04 plate.

If you have a diesel with DMF you will have to change it when that goes, most will go before mine did. Friend had a 05 ish C4 with the DMF going at 89000.

    Also DMF/clutch not cheap!

Just wondering, why does it state on the tire 35-65 psi pressure?

I would run them about 20 front and 25 rear or something (maybe lower ), but husband seems less convinced. He always insists on putting in about 30-35 in the kids tires while in morzine.

So what is the advantage of running them lower? I think I know, just don’t seem to be able to convince the stubborn old bugger!

Single ply chunky monkeys with freeride tube in the back. On roval wheels (tubeless rim tape already fitted), so could go tubeless but husband thinks it’s not worth the hassle.

Forgot to ad, boy is a real wuss, slow but steady, only 11.

Credit cards not used much on the continent really. Friend of ours (plastic surgeon) in Belgium had a credit card with a lower credit limit than my husbands credit card (driving instructor, presume earning a little less).

    This may be why?

My mother in holland seems to use bank transfer for most things.

Just remembered, Tried it last summer and was told discount was for season passes only, not just 6 days. So winter season pass gets you 50% off summer season PdS pass.

Morzine site does not make it clear either way….

What is the discount? May have to dig mine out.

If it is to get money off in summer, I thought that only works if you have a full season pass, not just a week?

Gary_m As far as I know insurance is much less when they are still learning (as they are with an experienced driver/hopefully instructor). Goes up when they pass and are out on their own.

I have been told a SMALL van (so only 2 seats) is cheaper to insure for the young ones. Probably as they can’t have a car full of passengers. Never tried it though, my oldest is 13.

If she is the main driver, surely the insurance will have to be in her name?

I have a small evoc freeride with the spine protector. Use it in the alps for both biking and snowboarding. Great bag, fits well, don’t notice it really. Ordered from amazone, but the top straps were threaded the wrong way around from new, which meant I could not pull it close to my back. Sorted that in the end, now fits a treat.

Last time I was at Brixton academy they had those lovely no crowd surfing signs up, not that I took any notice of them of course :0).

They did start putting up those barriers between the crowd and the stage in various small ish venues (lived in holland then, but I am sure they started doing the same here) in the 90’s, made stage diving much harder!

Last festival I went to was in Belgium, much more relaxed on H and S over there. We had a great time, managed to crowd surf all the way around one of the tents. They even had the campsite on one side of the dual carriage way, and the festival site on the other side with 24h lollipop type people?! Belgium is great!

No, I ride a cove stiffee 15.5″ 26″ hardtail and a small 2012 nukeproof mega. Also had a 15.5″ 26″ cove hustler that fitted great.

I am 164cm with a 31″ inside leg. Short top tube seems to be the secret, not many of these about.

Had a 16″ 5 that was too long in the top tube and the 14″ was too small.

Not yet really been tempted by ladies frames, although the propain tyee flo’s looks great. Think they are the same geo as men’s ones, but just added a smaller size and tuned the shock differently.

Premier genista for my oldest who is a drummer. 7 pc, set up as 6 pc.

Bought secondhand off the bay, but had not really been used. Lived in those lovely furry cases until we bought it. Came with lots of expensive cymbals and a trunk of hardware. Some of it I still don’t know how to use….

    It’s in his bedroom :0)

And yes, I gave a go now and then! My uncle was a jazz drummer, must be in the blood!

Rockhopper frames are good and really small (26″). Owned an on one scandal used for my son, not great for kids (especially girls I suppose) as that had a long top tube and my son hated it. I do believe cotic have quite a long top tube too, so even the xs won’t be ideal (that is the size cotic recommended for me – 5’5″ older girl.

igm – cheers, may chance it as we like the area. Don’t mind slush, don’t really like ice. Presume le pleney would be closed? And we are seriously considering just booking that week and taking a chance – great value accommodation on offer that week.

Will you be tagging a family along?

Not booked yet, but may need to stick to school hols as kids are getting older and are getting into year 9 and 7. Not done school hols before, but I am thinking of going 28/3, easter holiday. Been to Champery, nendaz and morzine. All first week of February in the past. Liked morzine best, we like a nice town and being able to ski a decent area without getting the bus.

We drive, so not too much further would be good….

Any recommendations for where to go end of march/start of April? I know a nice town and late ish skiing/ boarding don’t go well together. Can we risk morzine?

Morzine PdS with the husband and kids. Because husband and I have no sense of direction and the kids hate pedalling uphill (must be those Dutch genes).

Anyone else in morzine with kids. 2-9 august?

When he grows out of that, just get a bobike junior, takes kids up to a really high weight. Used to use one to take my youngest to school on the way to work. Much easier than a tag along. I think it even golds down to take a crate of beer, good old Dutch!

Bobike maxi? I used to have both, oldest on the back and youngest on the front.

No, not yet. Have considered it before our alps trips the last couple of years, and nearly put them on a days course in morzine last year (they did not want to). Now I would definitely not send my 13 year old, having a hard job keeping up as it is! (Downhill only). May get some coaching for the 11 year old before we hit morzine this year, as he is not really a natural. He enjoys the alps (as he does uplifts only and is a lazy bugger) but sticks to the short blues at morzine/les gets.

Does your son enjoy it? It may just not be his thing. If he does, perhaps a course in a group with other kids? Or maybe meet up with other riders with kids the same age and they can play about and learn from each other.

Miele. We bought the “cheapest” one available about 12 years ago and no matter what I try it won’t break. I put in anything that fits through the door….. It does 10/15 loads per week.

Had a Bosch for a bit before that, but that was forever breaking down. Piece of rubbish that was.
