Is he focusing and play biting on your hand’s? If so with some adolescent dogs it’s because they have been trained using treats and they get boisterous trying to tell you they want something!

Tim Fallon alienated half of the population this morning by insulting them all and showed a complete lack of understanding about why people voted out. The problem he has is that ranting like that will lead to niche support which makes them irrelevant.

Random question to people as I am still undecided about where to vote and Im struggling to find an answer anywhere.

Does anybody know the figure of what percentage of net migration settle in the South East year on year?
I moved out of London a couple of years ago back home to the Peak District and the one thing that strikes me is the fear culture people seem to have of migrants and foreigners even though there are non here! The same goes for small towns and villages in Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire where I have family.

My concern for migration is not of people coming to the UK itself as I believe it is a benefit to us, but of the consequences of mass migration concentrating on the one particular area and accentuating the North/South divide.

Has the EU/Gov ever drawn up (working) plans on how to manipulate market forces on immigration?

First thing you need to do is get the dog out and about and socialising with other dogs as soon as possible. If you don’t this will more than likely have an adverse affect especially with a Vizsla who are soppy souls.

Theres a general rule that older dogs put up with puppys until they are about 12-16 weeks old and will often just stand there as the puppy bounces all over them. After that age they are fair game and will be put in there place very quickly as they are not puppys any more in the eyes of other dogs. However the physical act of biting another dog is rare especially if no pre aggression or warning is shown.

Your pup will learn a lot from this and in all fairness is one of the better lessons for both dog and owner!

Working Lab and German Pointer. Hour a day during the week all off lead and then up to 6 hours a day on the weekend if working or out for few hours with me on the bike.

With certain breeds you can walk as much as you like but you will just end up with a fit dog not a tired dog. Interact with them properly during a walk and you don’t need more than an hour of off lead excercise a day during the week.

Pork Tenderloin fillet from the butchers or Costco.
Rub off your choice but paprika and garlic normally form the base of mine. Can also marinate in balsamic and worcester sacue overnight and use a balsamic glaze mixed with honey once cooked.
20 mins direct heat over 5 or 6 coals or 1 piece of wood.

Quick easy and cheap that utilises an under used piece of meat in the UK, but is bloody delicious.

Commercial nespreso machine’s and pods are used in restaurants. Only reason they are used is that many restaurants don’t want the noise from a traditional machine.
Still doesn’t excuse a bad coffee after a good meal.

Contacts for 20 years and no issues.

For the last 6 years I have been getting my lenses from Daysoft, basically the direct to market company of the contact lens world. Dailys work out at £5.99 for 32 lenses so makes wearing dailys affordable.

Would never buy from the high street again.

Regularly ride with my dogs on the moors and they love it. Best tips I can give you are –

    1) Keep the dog off the lead as much as you can when they are young. 95% of recall problems are caused by people failing to do this. Play hide and seek with it over the next few months and it will learn never to lose sight of you.
    2) Buy a acme gun dog whistle 211.5. Before you feed the dog blow the whistle three times quickly then take a step back and give the dog the food. This gets them acclimatised to coming towards you and good things happening during their sponge like age before 16 weeks. Gun dog class will teach the rest.
    3) The stop whistle will be your best friend. Easy to teach the basics but you will need to reinforce it for about 6 months before being consistent.
    4) Don’t be boring when you walk the dog. Continuously change direction, interact with the dog and walk in different areas will mean they will have to focus on you more.
    5) Find out what obsesses your dog i.e. food or a ball. Use that to get them to walk by the side of you off lead without being distracted and reward them for it. You can then use this on the bike.
    6) Dont even think about taking the dog out on the bike until they are at least a year old. They will damage themselves as they are still growing. They get used to the bike in about 5 mins and one buzzed backside means they wont run in front of you.

The only thing I will say is that I have seen loads of people knacker their dogs by using them as trail hounds. Problem is the dog goes for gentle walk every day sniffing things and chasing balls and then at the weekend is expected to hurtle after a bike for 10+ miles. Their bodies just aren’t used to it but dogs don’t know when to stop. Dictate your bike ride around their fitness and experience not yours.

Have two german pointers and two cats. They often sleep together and share rabbits that the cat drags home!

If getting a puppy you introduce them slowly and always give the cat an escape route. You need to be more wary of the damage a cat can do to a dog when they are young. After a couple of months they settle down and get on with it.

All listed are gun dogs that will mature later than other breeds, all hate being left alone and would eat your kitchen, all need more stimulus than just a walk, all would make a great trail dogs (especially the Viz).

These dogs are a different world to cavs and if you are prepared to put in the time and the effort would be your best friend for life but too many people are getting vizlas and then giving them up because being a HPR dog (Hunt, point, retrieve) they need too be trained by an experienced dog owner otherwise you will end up with one unhappy and frustrated animal.

This is where people’s idea of depression is different from reality reading above as it takes many guises and is dealt with in many different ways!

A classic sign of depression is to push away all that are close to you and do everything you can to avoid personal contact with people. Throwing yourself at work or the gym is a way to try and take your mind off the dark especially if you are fairly driven person or see failure as weakness.

A key indicator to me would be the children. If your wife has always been a loving mother but you are now seeing that she is distancing herself from the children and also friends then I would suggest that depression or the like is probable. If not and she is still socialising and interacting with the kids then I would say a relationship problem is more likely i’m afraid.

banana, egg, spoon of greek yoghurt, two tablespoons of oats and scoop of protein powder. Breakfast banana pancake mix (makes 6) served with blueberries and some yoghurt.

Use ours all the time for recovery shakes as well – milk, spinach and some oats. Its turned out to be the only kitchen gadget we actually use.

As a manic depressive the impact cycling has had on my life is basically life saving in more ways than one!!

I need a routine to follow and also a daily dose of mindfullness. The problem with mindfullness is that my head does not stop and sitting down and closing your eyes trying to concentrate on something is like sitting on razor wire and being told to stay still.

However jumping on a bike I have to concentrate on staying upright and whats going on around me which leads to a state of serenity I cant experience normally as I forget all the other stuff going on in my weird and wonderful mind.

The issue comes where I get carried away and a few years ago was tracked down to the middle of France where I was on the way to enter the Giro fuelled by mars bars and fags. Silver linings and all though!!

If you haven’t trained a dog before get the following book, especially for a spaniel. Also get an acme 11.5 dog whistle and a clicker. It will be the best money you spend on a dog if you follow it through.

As above let the dog off the lead when you are in a safe place as soon as you can. The puppy will not leave your side and not doing so is the biggest mistake new dog owners make.

Other thing I would look at is a crate as the dog loves a den and it becomes a safe place for them.

Finally being a spaniel they need mental stimulation (even the show type) and over the next year using this book to follow basic gundog training principles including heel work, stop whistle and retrieving. Only needs 5-10 mins a day on your morning walk. Its a very basic step by step guide from puppy to adult and you can choose what you want to train (quartering for spaniels with your kids can be entertaining when out on walks together)

Regarding the KC I suffered from naivety and lack of exposure to them in all honesty. Grew up with working dogs abroad (falklands & South Africa) where dogs really do work and breeding is only done on proven useful dogs, not by looks!
The KC exposure I have had in the UK has been limited to health/lineage docs from German Pointer breeders who are basically moorland farmers breeding dogs for themselves! Didn’t realise the extent of the breed manipulation they have especially within the so called “show” world.

A lot of ridgebacks in the UK have been known to be culled by breeders if they dont show the ridge on their backs to keep standards up apparently. This however is starting to deform the breed as 1 in 20 ridgebacks don’t have the ridge naturally and this genetic tweaking of the breed for a bigger ridge is causing issues. In SA knew plenty of ridgebacks without the ridge! Haven’t met one here.

Basically yes. The new show standard is for a sloping back which apparently is aesthetically pleasing but is causing hip dysplasia and other problems. The breed has just been split in two by the working look and show look

The below article sums it up well

Grew up on a sheep ranch with collies and they are the last dog I would ever have in my home!! The problem is people are buying collies from farmers thinking they make great pets but they are vicious, nippy little buggers that unless you have a lot of experience with them can turn into a neurotic mess. A cross collie would be better but you never know what side of the dog you are going to get.

I personally would stay away from the new designer crosses as it can be a lottery on what you are getting unless you know the breeder. The puppy farms are capitilising on this as papers are irrelevant and are using peoples homes as fronts for the business when you buy one. Have seen some great sprockers on shoots but also some really unhealthy ones that have had a lot of issues.

Can second German pointers (have a pair) but they suffer from separation anxiety if left alone for too long. Best trail/family dog you would ever have though!

Spaniels would be my choice on your original list and don’t disount some of the specialist spaniel charities where you can get 6 month plus old dogs that have been given up through no fault of their own apart from been too spaniel! They will often be partly trained and vetted by people who know what they are doing.

The problem western media has now is that everything attributed to Muslims through violence has a jihadi connotation added to it. This then gets people frothing at the mouths!!

You only have to look at cases in the States of abominable murder committed under the name of christianity i.e. Andrea Yates who drowned her five children stating that Satan had made them disobedient or the guy who shot up a kindergarden stating he didnt like gays and liberals because they were against Amercian republican christian values!
Both were cited as mentally Ill.

Islam may be many things but the harming of children goes against the grain of even the most zealous Jihadi as the family unit and children are the most important things in their lives.

Video is on Liveleak (not that you want to watch it) and news reports stating that apparently she has found out her husband had cheated on her. After burning down the house she had the head in a bag but was stopped by the tube station and asked for papers. Only then did she pull the head out and start preaching.

Obviously mentally ill and hiding behind religion in her own mind to justify what she has done.

Have been where you are on numerous occasions and trying to pick yourself out of this is tough but you can do it.

Reading through your post what strikes me is that you haven’t seen a clinical consultant yet which would help you massively. The low dose of medication the GP has given you will probably help you to sleep but a consultant will get you on the right medication straight away. (if you even need any)
He will also help point you in the direction of a CBT/DBT course which can often be life changing.

Because you have alerted the mental health services with the self harming you will be on their radar but they are so snowed under you could be waiting a long time to see anyone unless you escalate. If you have private medical insurance through work or you want to pay for it yourself I would suggest you go privately. You will see a consultant within a week and you just need your GP to refer you. I can recommend the priory hospital Roehampton if you are still in London.

This weekend stay of the booze if you can. Exercise and the like is probably the last thing you feel like doing but try and walk to a coffee shop for breakfast tomorrow. Gets you out of the house and also a bit of fresh air.

Just remember that only the strong people can talk about this so you are over the first hurdle already!![list]

No, but don’t discount the serious internal political problems a lot of the interested parties in Syria have.
The House of Saud would be a key player in any further rising tensions as their monetary deficit coupled with the rising power of Iran is alarming the ruling elite.
You are more likely to see a regional State sponsored Shia v Sunni civil war which will drive the oil price up and help Moscow out of its hole!!

Are you sure its just depression? No substance abuse involved or other mental health problems etc?
If it is depression I would honestly question that especially if that is the first anti-depressant he has been placed on. I was on Lithium for 10 years but it was to control my mania (Im bipolar) and I was on a separate anti depressant to control the depressive side of the spectrum.
Al I would say is that they should have 100% confidence in the Dr as from my own experience Lithium is seriously powerful drug that needs continual blood monitoring and can alter your personality in a fundamental way.
