I absolutely agree, but again that’s not the point of the diet. Please listen to us, we are trying to explain it to you.

No, Edukatroll is explaining it to you.
You must eat cheese and museli.

But that doesn’t happen, so what you understand about fat loss must be incorrect? Or have the iDave dieters been imagining things? Either you’re wrong or their real life documented experience is wrong.

Which do you think is most likely? Your understanding is outdated or many people (not just on STW) have been imagining things?

    In your own time..

    ha, ha.

    Edukatroll wont answer iDaves question.

So, momentum, are you now prepared to retract your accusation of trolling?

    Oh no.

Thats my opinion on you here and matt has pointed this out better than me up there ^^^^

That leaves pulses and vegetables which are such low calorie sources of carbs

    ^ This is trolling

    Lentils (all per 100g)
    Energy (cal) 99
    Protein 7.6g
    Carb 17g
    Fat 0.5g

Half the calories, but twice the protein of white/whoelmeal bread. About a tenth to a fifth of the GI of white bread.

How much carb do you need a day?

[Edit] More importantly how much carb do biffers like me NEED a day?

    Hello Solo.

EDIT – the iDave diet is for endurance athletes also, but they would use some carbs before during and after some training and events.

So, thats iDave diet, plus Carbs then.
But there are carbs in the iDave diet anyway.
    ❓ ❓

    momentum_2000

iDave you claim 2kg a week weight loss

    Err. don’t think he does.
    More like 1-2lb per week.

That leaves pulses and vegetables which are such low calorie sources of carbs I doubt anyone would cope with the portion sizes to provide enough carbs for an endurance athlete

This is why you are being called a Troll.

You know that the iDave diet isn’t for endurance athletes.
Yet you post what you have.

Its the very definition of Trolling, if ever there was one.

You’re not very good at this are you ?.

Perhaps you should stick to your Rock n Roll dancing.

the biggest scandal of Thatcher’s coal policy was the SQUANDERING of the UK’s mineral resource. In mining, the economics of production are dependent on todays price. But tomorrow’s price might be higher.

    Thats fine.
But its a gamble for a private sector company to take.
Not for a government to take, while employing people at a loss.

    I did read your post.
I wasn’t saying your were complaining about your choice to live there.
    Obviously you are not.
But you have remarked on the scruffyness of the relics from a past era.
Where, as an echo from WW2, the coal industry was nationalised.
By the 70s, the cost of maintaining a nationalised coal mining industry was costing us as a nation.
    Financially and democratically.

Who were the unions to think that they could topple UK governments ?.

    If your pit closed.
You moved, you found work else where, doing something else.
Whoever said life is fair or equal ?.
So why try to force it to be.

Life for every person on earth will never be fair or equal.

    rkk01.

Ok, if you moved to a place you think has been ruined by the closure of a pit, over 1/4 of a century ago.
And you’re happy about it, then you’re not complaining ?…

Yes, finite mineral resource. Tell it to the ^^ who are still compaining about Thatcher and the pit closures.

What I’ve learnt, reading that wiki page, is that it seems to be another story about Gov owned, loss making industries of the 70s.
Where men worked, expecting the Gov and the country to support them in their loss making jobs.
We simply couldn’t afford it. Loss making pits had to close.

Funny this. It reminds me of stories about the gold rush in the US.
Where towns sprung up, the gold flowed.
But when the gold ran out, so did the folk.

So… why not here in the UK ?.
Once the coal ran out, or the pit closed.
Just move, if you have to, for work.

Interesting to read about pit closures…..

And to discover that actually, pit closures were started in the late 70s by the labour gov at the time….

I have to agree. All those whining about how knackered their village or town is, now the pit closed… 25 odd years ago.

    MOVE !.

Aren’t all flashing lights ‘road legal’ but not many constant ones are?

No idea, so I thought I’d ask.

    momentum_2000

    May I just say….

In my experience, all the bike lights I’ve ever used.

If they have a flash mode, they also have a constant mode.

So I wonder, is it legal to ride on flashing lights only ?.

Also, if the rider actively selects teh flashing mode, how much responsibility rests with that decision ?.
You could have selected constant, but elected for flash.

I do agree with some of the comments ^^^^
Flashing lights are more difficult to judge distance on.
They can be missed by someone glancing in that direction just at the moment the light is off.
I do not feel that flashing lights are more noticable than a constant light.
And, most entry level lights are fairly cheap.
Can’t you ride with two lights.
One on flash, one on constant.

    Edit:
Hope the OP is Ok, to the OP. Do you wear any reflective stuff.

I’ve read the comments, especially Epicyclo’s.

Seems to me then that there is a fixation with a notion that Scotland is seperate from the rest of the island.
I can’t see that from space, but hey ho.

In my opinion, a Scots man is no more let down and misrepresented by someone in Westminster as I am.

Seems to me that for hundreds of years our forefathers worked to blur the lines, the borders, in order to reinforce and strengthen the Union.

To get everyone to buy into one national identity.

Now Wales and Scotland only seem interested in creating their Govs and breaking it all up.

I did wonder if Gov can be effective and useful for such small populations, but then I recalled places like Monaco.
I guess there may be an analogy there as well as other places the channel Islands perhaps.

It just won’t feel the same if this devolution thing goes all the way.
    (Obviously)
And I just can’t help thinking that it will be something lost.

Still, if it doesn’t work out, we can all become friends again, supppose.
Though its not nice knowing your neighbours want rid of ya.

Its nothing to do with hating the English in large part.

Its about self determination. Its about wanting governments and policies that reflect the will of the people. Its about being able to have the correct policies for the economy of the country.

tories are an irrelevant minority here and Labour are the rightwing party

Not looking for trouble, your rep preceeds you.

However, that post betrays what appears to me as an entrenched perspective, from which a view has been formed.

If you subconsciously accepted that you were part of the family, then you’d already feel part of the process of self determination, as part of our Union, not as a Scot, in Scotland, ie, not an English in England.

    Anyway, I’ve cast my vote.
I’m pro Union of Great Britain and anti break-up.
    🙂

Why? Not stirring or trolling, it’s a genuine question. As an Englishman living in England, I’m not sure I really care what the Scots do. Not out of malice, I simply don’t understand this concept of ‘union’ that seems to be so important.

    We’re in it together.
Drawing a line on a map in order to separate a people who all speak the same language and live on the same bit of rock.
    Just seems silly.
You can refer to yourself as English, Scottish, Welsh.
    But lets all stay mates.
Voting to be separate isn’t very neighbourly or friendly, imo.
    Is all.
I grew up in times when the Union felt better and more positive.
Those spectacles may have a rose tint.
But why so much hate from the Scotts ?.
I’ve read comments on here and it seems that they really hate the English.
If true. thats everyone’s loss, imo.

Well I am one Englishman here who would like Scotland to stay in the union.
What do you other Brits think?

I’d prefer to keep, maintain and respect the Union of Great Britain.

However, my Scotish brothers seem hell bent on spliting things up.
I never really understood the intense hatred the Scotish have for me, an English man.

I would hope its not for historical reasons as events which occured undreds of years ago, are now beyond my control.

They all have moral solutions, I’m fairly confident of that.

    Errm. Theres a problem there.

I’ve seen this type of story before.

Wifey gets her children, then wishes to forget how they were produced.
She just sits back for the ride. She has her children, which she will never lose (divorce). She has the bread winner, bringing home the wonga.
    Why try ?.

Wheres the morality with what wifey is doing here ?.

I’m not comfortable with the sneaking around, but know enough that were the shoe on the other foot, no mercy would be shown, no morals would be exercised.
If you don’t believe that, then you haven’t met the women I have.
And so, for all you moralising lot, theres something for you to think about.

You don’t have the right to silence on a plane I’m afraid. So suck it up

We all need to get along. Parents need to take every precaution to stop their kids annoying other people; likewise other passengers have to make every effort not to be annoyed

I’ll go with that. Noisey people in cinemas are selfish, like the ones who put their feet on the backs of the chairs in front of them.
They obviously don’t care that someone else is going to sit there soon.

And yes, I turn my phone off when in the cinema.

OMG, is the UK so full of mindlessly rude and inconsiderate people these days ?. What has happened ?.

    momentum_2000

Sometimes a bit of tolerance and consideration for your very young children and others makes the world a much happier place for you and everone

    There, fixed that for you.
    😀

As above. I’m not anti children on planes, I’m not anti children.
But there are children, and there are unhappy children travelling.

A point I think Molgrips made earlier.( I think you wrote badly behaved)

But surely theres an point, an age where air travel for young children isn’t appropriate.

And in your post above, its all “me, me, me”

Let’s say I badly need a holiday, I’m really stressed out and all, depressed with some bad UK weather and someone’s let me use their holiday home in the Algarve for free

What does your 4 month old care about any of that ?.

In that scenario, you’ve worked yourself into a state and then grabbed a cheap holiday. I fail to see the 4 month old nagging you to get the family to the Algarve.
    😉

    Clong.

Then in that case, you and I simply do not understand each other.
A common failing, it would seem, in this place. Its Ok 😉

    Geoff.
Yes, consideration and tolerance isn’t being witheld, but no body should expect / demand it from me.
Also, I’ve no objection to children on planes. When they are old enough to travel peacefully.
Surely they calmed down by the time they’re 5yrs ?.

And please people, try to exercise some restraint when accusing people of being a coal hearted, childless, so and so, etc.

    You don’t know everyones history…

    momentum_2000
    Free Member

You have chosen to take junior in to that environment in the full knowledge that it may impact others. You’ve decided to ignore the impact of your choices to achieve the greater good of your essential holiday

This is how I see it. Sadly parents like this will raise their children to think and behave in a similar fashion and the cycle will perpetuate itself.
Its unfortunate when people fail to see that their needing a holiday, traveling by plane, doesn’t give them license to inflict their children upon others.

To those who understand and respect the fact that most likely, their very young children won’t travel well, and so therefore book holidays in the UK and travel by private transport.
I think you’re spot on. I think you’re good parents for not subjecting your children to long hours on planes, etc.
    😉

To those of you who just barge your way through life and society exercising your rights regardless of what your actions mean for others. You are lesser people than the sum of your parts, imo, and I pity you for not taking a more responsible, considerate role in society.

As this little island we all live on increases its population density, it would have been useful for us all to aspire to be polite, considerate and respectful to each other.

Sadly, it would appear to be the case that the opposite is the mainstream and that people seem to delight in being rude and inconsiderate to strangers.
It’s probably an ego trip thing, especially in Toys19 case, where acting “heroically” is second nature and the true meaning for their existence, obviously.
    🙄

One final thing. Wherever go, whatever you do.
You represent, in the eyes of the people around you, your family.

Pity then, that when people decide to be inconsiderate, they do not stop to think of how their actions reflect upon their nearest and dearest, in the eyes of the people around them.

You behave like an idiot in front of me, then on the strength of that, I’m going to assume that your entire family are like that.

Can’t we all just be nicer and more considerate towards one another ?.
Can’t you just take your fly away holidays once your children are up to the journey ?, whats so difficult about waiting a few years ?.

    momentum_2000

    Mogrim.

I see that you’re out for a flame-off, but I fear you may be on shakey ground.

    Children are a choice.

Taking children onto a plane to go on holiday, is a choice.

While I admire TJs patience, I fail to understand why parents demand and expect me, TJ, whoever, to put with it.

Because having children is a necessary part of maintaining a society was my choice, and it’s therefore unreasonable and selfish of me to demand and expect other a little toleration of the differences between a child and an adult people to put up with my children so I can have a break.

There, fixed that for you 🙂

Also, you now live so far from some of your family that you really only want to fly to go see them.
I don’t recall making you move to Spain.
It wasn’t me, you did it.
Thats your problem, why make it mine ?.
    😉

EDIT: And going on holiday whilst ‘demanding tolerance’ is a ‘necessary part of maintaining a society’ is it?

    Exactly !.

    Uplink.

Shouldn’t you be lobbying the airlines?
After all parents are only doing what the airlines are allowing them to do

As you well know, that would be a futile exercise.

Anyway, you’re missing my point. Why is it so unfashionable for people to be considerate ?.
If / when I’m blessed with the gift of children, I will not be subjecting them to hours of flying and other passengers to hours of noise, screaming, etc.
I will be blissfully happy to make it easier on everyone involved by not going to the airport, not sitting for hours on a plane and not going around another country trying to holiday with unhappy children.

Is loading up the family car and renting a cottage somewhere in the UK, just for a few years, so terrible ?.

Actually, I do try to avoid getting into situations where I might be within painful ear-shot of unhappy children on a transport.

But as Boblo says. what on earth gives parents the right to demand that everyone around them tolerate their children, just so they can go on holiday.
