Presumably the earlier events are already full up?
I’d say it sounds reasonable to me.
They aren’t, then have one event currently full, which I have excluded from the 31.
moe_szyslakFree MemberSubsidised service for the first 2(?) years of launch to get consimer interest, now time for it to pay its own way.
30 free use hasn’t changed, neuther have later return charges etc, so no changes for “average” user.
moe_szyslakFree MemberGoing against the grain….
I only drive a van (Vivaro then Vito). Have done for 2.5 years, and its becoming rather tedious. Hard to park, actually impractical for shopping etc, thirsty (Vito does 40mpg on m/way, 35mph around the A-roads), noisy, tedious to drive etc etc
Wife does have a nice car which I occasionally use, but guess what; she isn’t all that keen on driving the van so I can only really use it when she is either in another country or otherwise incapacitated.
So much so I am now poised to sell the posh Vito, buy a mid-priced Vivaro and a car.
moe_szyslakFree MemberFirst one down within 12 hours (big cheese). Then 7 days later no more, so I assumed it was just the one mouse. THEN….
…..one cheeky beggar has stolen the peanut butter from one of them. Its cheeky, but now I know he exists, so its war…..
moe_szyslakFree MemberI’m a teeny 42/43 or 8.5 in old money so cheers david but i think they may be a tad too big
Suits me :-) David, YGM!
moe_szyslakFree MemberI’d have dropped the gobby little scummer on the spot.
+1
moe_szyslakFree MemberIf you’re a size 11, I’ve got some barely used one I want to sell. They are the Chameleon GTX version.
I would be interested in those is OP isn’t.
moe_szyslakFree MemberOK thanks for the advice, can you recommend anyone who does open source photography?
moe_szyslakFree MemberBased in the Midlands. How do people reproduce prints of old posters normally?
moe_szyslakFree Member+1 manual splitting maul (mine beinge from countrywide, I think Spear&Jackson. Hve used the electric Clarke/machine mart type but it reminds me of an electric tim opener, you may as well just get on and do it manually. One you have the ring split you are away.
moe_szyslakFree MemberThabks for the kind offer, but unbelievably I have excelled myself, all done. Took longer than expected as the old nut didn’t want to budge (and couldn’t get purchase onto it due to location), so had to split it with a chisel (nice). Even manged to do it all (along with a new thermostat) whilst tenants watched on like fascinated puppies. Fit a storage heater later in the week and a bit of sash window repair and they are off my back until….something else breaks.
You see see why I had some difficulty with the nut:

moe_szyslakFree MemberThanks chaps, that’s just what I needed, off to screwfix in the morning. Should keep the tenants from bleeting for a while. There SHOULD be a service tap, but no such luck, I may be a grown up and fit one in the process, but I bet I won’t! It’s also going to be a little more than 10mins, it’s in a cupboard and it’s on the back of the tank. Also changing the thermostat at the same time.
I owe you around 3 beers now Mark!
moe_szyslakFree MemberExtremely sad news, and by the sounds of it in very sad circumstances.
She epitomised living life to the fullest, she wasnt afraid to follow her dreams. The world would be a truly better place if we had a few more Jaymie Mart’s.
moe_szyslakFree MemberGreat, thanks everyone, just wanted to be sure. Have re-tightened the cranks around every 50 miles due to creaking (FSA), apart from that she’s rosey, but will keep it all monitored. Looking forward to many more trouble free miles buthe sounds of it.
Moe
moe_szyslakFree MemberJust the job, looks fantastic, pity have missed it this year. Have you done it?
moe_szyslakFree MemberIn no way doubting that
I am a significantly above average driver in terms of car control and reacting to changes in a vehicle’s grip levels,
, unfortunately most people think that of themselves in a car, meaning that, generally, we are all about average, and as such every and any electronic help we can get will keep us safer
Exactly, its human (or just bloke) nature that we always think we are 20% better than we are. I can only claim to have such talents in car control etc. This is just a crossover form other areas. I cannot (and won’t attempt) to claim I am overall and above average driver.
h okay. It looks like it is from Fifth Gear or some such. Shows Tiff demonstrating ABS, Traction Control and ESP on a Jag on an ice and snow test track. In each case it works better with them on.
If formula one could have these things, they would. I personally thknk these systems will revolutionise road safety.
moe_szyslakFree MemberI wouldn’t think twice, a definate yes from me.
I am a significantly above average driver in terms of car control and reacting to changes in a vehicle’s grip levels, and I still like it being there if I need it. Even if it stops you sliding on some ice or diesel and damaging a wheel, its money in th ebank and piece of mind.
moe_szyslakFree MemberWhat a great shot! Cav must be inside fetching a couple of cokes?
moe_szyslakFree MemberI think it’s an suggests a certain amount of arrogance to suggest that a £2800 watch is affordable to anyone
I wasn’t (and didn’t) suggest that at all. I suggested that Omega where not timeless in the same way as a Rolex, I didn’t question their exclusivity. That being said clearly Rolex are more exclusive, and at the same time there are brands similarly priced to Rolex that are more exculsive (or possibly just rarely seen!(.
moe_szyslakFree MemberSorry didn’t know most bikes have abs now too. Still dont think they can out brake a car though
The braking performance a bike has would blow your mind. To put it into perspectivemost bikes have font brake discs (ignore rear for car and bike, they don’t provide signitifcant additional braking power), these discs are larger than the ones on your car (unless you have an M3>).
Furthermore these two gigantic discs (and it has to be said excellent minimum 4 pot calipers) have to slow down (even with rider) sub 400kgs, in the real world probably a lot less. Super bikes routinely weigh in at 250kgs. All you have to add-in then is the weight of a wreckless working class rider with a death wish and you can see that the weight versus braking power is immense. Furthermore they don’t stand up on end like your Cotic hardtail, they have real grip. Very few things can out-brake a bike.
moe_szyslakFree MemberPretty much back up what everyone here has said. But having had both an Omega is not where near a patch on the real thing, keep saving and buy something truly timeless and beyond lifetime reliable (I am sure you know what I am refering to).
moe_szyslakFree MemberI rectified this problem on Mrs S’s bike today. I turned out to be a split jockey wheel :s
moe_szyslakFree MemberMaybe the anti-stall caused it to lurch forward
Agreed, possbly coupled with a some kind of clutch hydraulic failure or drag?
Very tragic whatever the cause. Only note on health and safety is that its not good practice to leave a tail lift half way up in that way. Typically they sit on the ground and out of the way (although people are liable to trip over it then), this is also how it would be having unloaded the car/equipment. It may have been left half way up as they have no steps, you step onto it (half way) and they again into the back of the truck. Again, this can be happen if steps are not present to gain access. That being said, if it were down (or up) she would have just crashed into the truck itself with possible similar consequences.
All in all though its essentially certainly a freak accident. You can’t mittigate against things like this, what if it had done the same thing and ploughed headlong into the awning itself and taken out 10 mechanics? Just very very infortunate accident, which could have been a lot worse. Its a testament to the latest helmets that she is alive at all.
Potentially not a career ender, although likely to be as far as F1 and fast single seaters go, its possible that she could gain a special dispensation for use at natioanl level (touring cars etc), the danger now I think is any kind o accompanying brain injury. I really wish her all the best, a terrible thing to happen, almost inconveivable. Hopefully Dr Helmut Marko can pay her a visit and reassure her its not life over (I don;t think many people know that he only has one himself).
moe_szyslakFree MemberLooks like you will ned to buy the 4-pack I linked to earlier.
The Shimano ones do have a brass insert and a rubber seal, so with the noodle and rubber boot do an excellent job.
You can cut the noodle off for the ends at the shifter and rear mech.
I use SP41 outers, preferably full-length.PaulD
Hi Paul, aren’t these purely for sealing the cables?
moe_szyslakFree MemberI thought as much, thanks. All we need now is another one!
moe_szyslakFree MemberA Cable Stop. It fits into the last cable guide above the front mech.
Thats the badger. Searched on the on-one site with that and still can’t find one :s
moe_szyslakFree MemberOne of these?
Nope, its a small boss that slides into another boss on the frame, above the front mech. It mounts the front mech cable.
moe_szyslakFree MemberThe W1.
The design of which was obviously based on a BSA.It was as BSA. It was originally a BSA A7 made under license by Meguro. Kawasaki purchased Meguro and carried it on. Later models (like this) were not made to the exact BSA design (the BSA A7/A10 was discontinued in 1962), they went off on their own mild tangent, like Santana with their land rover.
Thats all fairly irrelevant however, as the W800 shares no parts whatsoever with (and is not based-on whatsoever) the W1/2. The W800 is unit construction and has discs for a start!
Nope, don’t agree.
The asymetrical headlamps, the trellis frame, the dual front mudguards
(The BMW beak) and a separate sporty flyscreen have been GS styling features for years.
The Transalp and Tenere have none of these features.KTM (a few models) and Ducati (Multistrada and Hypermotard) and use the trellis frame and “BMW” Beak. Only the XC tiger actually has the beak. The Yamaha Tenere also has the flyscreen. Nothing is original……
moe_szyslakFree MemberYou’re right, nothing like each other:
In a general sense the look the same, so does the Yamaha Tenere and to some degree the transalp, its just indicative of their type.
The Bonnies look ok, (but the Kawa W800 is nicer)
Maybe as nice, but looks like it is exactly what it is (jap replica), its also a grand dearer……
moe_szyslakFree MemberSadly, like most new Triumphs, Mr Bloor seems to have pointed to a BMW and said ‘Make it look like that’.
Except for EVERY other Triumph model. I don;t think the adventure-types look too much lie a GS anyway TBH.
moe_szyslakFree MemberNot great on Volvo’s part. As has been said before push for a goodwill warranty. although this will depend on the mileage, if its 120k and 3 years old then hose-down your credit card in readiness!
moe_szyslakFree Member4 weeks build to dealer is about right. Fair proportion of that is transport to the uk.
moe_szyslakFree MemberI would go for the triumph. Their build quality is only beaten by Honda and Yam. Dealers are also good.
VFR is a great bike, but variety is the spice of life, why not have a change? Second what has been said about Ducati. A GS is worth considering but I don’t rate BMW quality as highly as the others, and you will look like all the other long way way round wannabes. That said their resale value is fantastic, although likely to be true of the Triumph for a while.
moe_szyslakFree MemberYes, lots. It can be a bit of a lottery (its the same both ways). I would say 2-3 weeks. We have had quicker, we have had slower!
