The 1 piece formula R1 for me also. The rotors with the big holes can eat brakes and warp easily. Only 85gms on a 160mm

I did an 8 hr ride yesterday and had over 50% left, I think they quote 15hrs off a full charge

If the 40gms per brake does not include the rotor that puts it in Formula R1 territory

I ride the SDW all year around from Amberley to Eastbourne. As gee says Racing Ralph snakeskin hold up pretty well on the flinty terrain…

I did weigh my canyon, the scales do work and its 20.5lbs with pedals.

Its the bottom of the range Canyon carbon and i have put on another wheelset roval carbon rims with AM classic hubs with XX cassette, changed brakes to some old formula R1 ones i had and swapped the the bars to a ritchey 620mm superlogic 10 degree, Esi Grips and a Cobalt carbon seatpost and selle italia slr 145 saddle.

To lose 1.5lbs in the Autumn i am putting on new cranks instead of the X9, will save approx 250gms there. Lose the front shifter and front mech around 240gms, maybe if i can get rid of the fork matchmaker lockout about 50gms and the stock chain is heavy so that will be replaced when it wears in the next 3 – 4 months

Also change tyres, will save around 150 – 200 gms changing from current set up to specialised storm or Rocket rons if racing. That Rubena Kartos on the front tyre is far from light. Also nearly forgot i need to add the weight of a chain guide at about 50gms..

Seems like others from your riding area also dont like them, i too have to agree. You should be able to get a Hans Dampf from bike24 or bike discount in Germany. I can vouch these do rather well down south 🙂

it sounds very similar to what I ended up with. Had a 7 day ECG and turned the cause was mainly caffeine and alcohol. I now don’t drink caffeine at all and try to limit or cut out alcohol days before riding. Pester your doctor to get the cardio to diagnose you correctly in case it might be something more serious

Don’t forget you may also need to change the stem if you go wider to compensate for the extra width.

Personally I think it depends on a number of factors, firstly if you are a DH rider riding serious technical terrain then yes they make a big difference but also your build and the width between your shoulders also need consideration. Slim people suit narrower bars bigger built people can get away with wider bars than slim xc jeyboys like me…

I have used them for over 5 years now. At one time all 3 bikes had them. They have never let me down and i cover a fair bit of off road mileage a year and the odd 12 hr race. I use their normal rotors and have never emcountered any brake fade. The pad clearance is tight and they can be a bit of a pig to set up. Re bleeding i take mine to my shop to sort out usually every 1000 miles or so..

You cant compare The Ones to R1s, i had both, the ones have a lot more power and yes THe Ones do eat pads..

My max heart rate is 176 but i can get only 168 – 170 on the turbo on either high cadence(160/170rpm) with low watts or low cadence on a high wattage. As advised you need a decent fan as that can have quite an influence on your HR. If you not getting near your max heart rates on the strength sessions if you do these then you wont reap the benefit

I thought I had the same issue, you could feel movement when grabbing the pedal but I gave them to
my mechanic friend and within 10 minutes he had them running free with no movement…

I like to run a similar set up here…

I have been running both the Bonty 29-4 and the purgatory, was not a big fan of either in muddy rooty conditions on the front. These I was using earlier in the year during our extended wet spell… Now i have been using the Hans Dampf and in slightly moist onditions at Whiteways 3 or 4 weeks back its seemed to behave rather well but no doubt the real test will come soon once the wet weather sets in again and the lovely roots of Stanmer come into there own…

I have a white German car, and my wife has a 4×4 (or is that another topic?). I hate dubai with a passion, it is fake, over rated, over priced and boring… However the weather is warm in the winter and the hospitality good- only due to the migrant workers mainly from the Indian subcontinent, a job you rarely see a local doing as it is considered too demeaning…

I have had a few 29ers now had the Scott carbon pro last year was a fast and light piece of kit and stiff Sold that and invested in a carbon FS 29er. I also brought the Canyon 29er the 7.9. changed the seatpost and bars to carbon and found the ride to be far more forgiving than the Carbon Scott. Changing the bars to EC70 and a cobalt Carbon seat post saved over 200gms, you could easily save another 500 gms easily by changing the wheel set and that would get you around e 24lb mark. You shold easily achieve a sub 24lb build under £2k. I loved the Fox 15mm evolution CTD fork, thought that it performed very well comparing to my 2 sets of SIDS

Have to say i agree with the other comments in that whatever party was in control we would still be in the same situation as the country is in a dire financial state. Retail sales for non essential goods have plunged over the last 4 years and people are spending less, this year is the worst to date.

One of the factors is the over indulgence of too many people borrowing far too much with our banks blessing all those years back. Now the banks are sometimes too strict and theres a shortage of money. They need to find a happy medium here as most of the UK public have to borrow money and live a life on credit in some way.

your decking needs resanding as its oxidised… The bike though looks lush what wheels are on there and what weight is it? I was looking at one for next year with the Fox 34 and it was a sub 25lb with pedals…:-0

Apparently I have been told by a local its muddy :-). It holds up well in the rain, i will run a 2.25 ralph rear and i maybe might put something with more grip on the front. I always found that Rocket Rons pinged off the rocks there, cant understand the mud x comment maybe he had them blown up too hard as had no such issue when i used one just on the front when i raced solo there back in 2009 and 2010…

I got mine from Gresham Blake but they offer 2 different levels of bespoke, the cheaper one is sent overseas for most of the stitching and they do the minor alterations in the shop. As it turned out it was a nIcevsit but they also offer a more expensive Traditional Bespoke now that was not available a few years ago when I brought mine…

I had similar issues after trying almost every energy drink out there. Now I’ m on infinite which is tailored to the individual. It’s a bit more pricey then most but works for me in12 hr races. I found this out via the Dave Buchanan blog as he used it in his 48 record if I recall correctly
