The 16 inch I have lying spare wouldn't be much use then eh? Sorry I'm so short. You probably don't want another as you sold it but if you end up wanting one new then give me a shout and we'll 'sort you out'. I'D have them in stock.

any bike shop with a Madison account should be able to get it for you. they're in stock and should cost £1.99.

opening longer hours/more days just dilutes the same customers you'd have anyway, IME.

Ride it. I did loads of off road stuff on mine with 80mm Bombers on and it was great.

I haven't read the whole thread however I would be very surprised if anyone else has smashed their sacrum. Not that a month in hospital was anything to be smug about – the feeling of warm sun on your head after that long inside is unbelievable.

hey Coastkid, did you get the bb for the pug from the states or does someone in the UK do'em?

    sorry for the hijack.

    cheers!

on a commuter? 28s or 32s won't be much different imo. Harsher ride? try running at 90 instead of 100psi will make more difference.

if you're using lock on grips replace them with foam ones.

Yeah, but that's the worlds isn't it? If you're racing at that level surely any strip down required afterwards to stop any nasty stuff happening to the components would be smallfry compared to preventing your drivetrain from freezing?

Ooops, looks like I misinterpreted the sign on sheet slightly. "Luckily" Dickie didn't show and calamity and confusion was averted. Sorry Rich.
You can have 18th tho' as I wasn't very happy with it anyway :D

I was tempted to ask if you were fat, but I don't think I will :-)

I've used them for a long time as in 20 odd years and 24hr events too. If you find the 'standard' flite comfy you'll probably find the SLR nice too. Though they are getting a bit expensive lately :(

Talking to a Rohloff guy at Core and he said they weren't aiming the belt drive at mountain bikes at all due to the way the sprocket sits against the seals of the hub – in fact he was saying it was really unsuitable. They see the market as tourers and commuters.

    From here…

    http://www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=103

Aluminum cranks typically do not require lubrication of this press fit. Aluminum by its nature is self-lubricating as it is covered with a thin layer of oxidation. Adequate torque is typically enough to keep arms from creaking.

    a. Wipe both sides of spindle and inside crank mounting holes with a rag.

    b. Grease under head and threads of both bolts or nuts.

    That'll do me :-)

S'pose it's only you who can tell if it's a bit silly. You can always choose something else…or wait. Depends if you actually 'need' the bike or you have others to keep you going?

maybe they could put some longer forks on it and that would slacken it off a bit?

a quick question re the entry fees if I may… Was I charged £13 instead of £10 because I didn't have a race licence? Is there any advantage to getting one if so? Cheers!

Just put some on the girlfriends Long Haul Trucker – they seem a good bet for on/off road rough stuff type touring. Certainly lighter than the XRs we've used in the past. Didn't weigh them at the time but if I get a chance over the weekend I'll pop one off and get it on the scales.

Mrs Mochas Scandal has gears and suspension and comes in at 23 ish. That's SIDs, Bonty xlite wheels, lots of carbon, xtr brakes & shifters, foam grips. Take a look at grips ffs. Lock ons around 200g and foam ones about 28g!! Any less than that and you're throwing around some serious cash…
