Really is so easy to nip the loose cone up before you ride, you just need to find a cone spanner.

Just be careful you don’t over do it as there’s supposed to be a little play in the axle before you do up the quick release.

Not a good idea to ride with it loose, as said above it is surprising how quick things can get worse and you could end up needing a new hub and wheel build.

Ok, though at a 200 mile round trip it may be a little too far. Will have to try it at some point.

Llandegla is just down the road for me so I’m there a little more often than is healthy, not that you should admit to it in this forum

I may point the car in the other direction and head east, Macc Forest perhaps?

Last time I was there it was supposed to be summer and I still came away looking like a wet Stig of the dump 8O

Ho hum, didn’t really fancy the Marin due to it being… well a bit dull. Am I wrong?

    Hello all

Was this guy unlucky or was this a bit of a problem with these brakes?

Thanks chaps, sounds like I need to get the mother-in-law’s sewing machine out. This could end in tears…. 8O

lucien – that’s sag your adjusting with the air pressure, sag being the static resting position of the fork.

Travel is limited by adding and removing internal spacers.

Believe me, it’s 1 1/8 on the piglet. I have one!

    Me again!

Only got experience of Rebas, most can be converted. Just need to be careful with ones labeled Race as these use Sid components. SL, RL, and RLT are good for 120 as far as I know. If in doubt check the technical docs on the SRAM website. There’s loads of info there.

As for converting lengths it’s a pretty easy job. Takes no more than half an hour, just take your time and use the correct tools. There is a lot of good info out there to follow.

Yes, they are a little strange, it’s the top tube length that’s more critical than the seat tube. I’m 5’11” and ride a 17″ frame. The top tube is the same length as my 19″ rockhopper.

You should find plenty of 1 1/8 forks out there, it’s still a pretty common standard. I use 120mm Rebas. There were a lovely set 2012 ones on eBay the other day for £200

Edit – just found these for you, bargain! Click me

Sorry, I’d had a few last night.

The head tube is a straight 1 1/8 so non-tapered.

Great frame, love my Piglet :-)

I use copper slip on the LEV in my piglet and that seems to work. You need something that doesn’t lubricate but also stops the aluminium post binding with the steel frame. As much as a little slippage is annoying its not nearly as bad as your expensive seatpost welding itself stuck!

+1 for rapid rise, nothing beats being able to shift whilst putting the power down. It’s the sole reason I’ve not gone 10 speed.

KS LEV for me, was out in the worst wet gloop I could find at the weekend and the LEV just kept working. The cable operated remote works great and the saddle drops to just where you need it, when you need it.

I really don’t understand Fox’s thinking with the DOSS, why reinvent the wheel. And as for that remote 8O

ell_tell – I run a 2.2 purg with a 2011 Reba and the clearance is pretty tight but it does work. So long as your wheel is true and you don’t mind the odd scratch to your fork arch you’ll get along fine.

Don’t know about the new 2.3 Purg’s though, someone said they were the same size but I’ve not tried one yet.

The grease in your BB and hubs has been replaced with muck and this has dried out and bunged your bearings up.

Time to strip and lube me thinks 8O

Northwind – I was hoping that might be true, Specialized tyres seem huge compared to other brands in my experience.

I use a 2012 2.2 Purg on the front and it’s pretty big, only just fits under the arch on my Reba fork.

Anyone know how the 2013 model compares?

So I’ve not had my LEV for a long, only used it properly once. I can’t really talk of reliability but I do love it.

I’ve spent the best part of a year trying to decide between the Reverb and the LEV but the cable entry and the fact you don’t need to bleed anything swung it for me. Oh, and you can disconnect the cable and remove the post in seconds should you need to.

    Get one

Been out there today and although it is pretty dry last nights frost left it very sketchy on the sections out in the open. I saw one guy come off in a bad way when he lost the front wheel on ice.

Under the trees though it’s business as normal! 8)

Onzadog – it’s really really easy to disconnect the cable from the LEV, undo the quick release and whip it out, probably takes 10 seconds max.

OK, all is well now. Two bolts removed from my old SDG posts fit the LEV’s nuts and they have proper strong heads.

All torqued up and ready to go now.

    Panic over, carry on 8)

I’m in Antibes quite often and last time I hired a bike from this guy. He’s pretty local based near the station. I headed off into the Esterel mountains west of Cannes following a pre-programmed GPS supplied with the bike. Loads of good riding there with fantastic views of Cannes. I only scraped the surface!

I used Stan’s on my attempt. The one thing no one tells you is that if your tyres are old and have any sizeable cuts in them then the sealant will just squirt out when you try and inflate. You’ll need to do a bit of patching. I’ve heard some mix in a bit of slime sealant as it has bigger “bits” in it.

Thanks chaps, I’ll use a little copper slip anti sieze and see how I get on.

Just gotta wait for that nice DHL man to arrive from Germany now…

Bike Hut Dry Lube for me from Halfords, tried so many boutique and main stream and always come back to this. Seems to work in wet and dry.

Keep an eye on it but to be honest in steel that wouldn’t bother me

edit – it is steel isn’t it?

Oooh, Alfine, not thought about that. I’d have to run a little chain tensioner with a drop out frame wouldn’t I?

I’m thinking the same way, but my sights are set on the KS LEV. Cable stays put – seat goes up and down.

As I wrote in another thread

I had a great afternoon there riding the Piglet with my mate on his Genesis. Really great fun, especially on hard tails! We stuck to the blue and red runs with a bit of black at the end (after the bridge). We’ll have to try the main black runs next time.

Take plenty of tubes if your not tubeless – pinch flats are inevitable and I’d recommend some pads, just in case….

It’s a great place, really well organised by a nice bunch. It’s great to come to the end of a run and have the bus just pull in to take you back up. It cost us £16 for an afternoon and I think I got about 8 runs

    Cross country what…?

Headset, stem, bars, fork, brake callipers, quick release. All nice and tight?
