Forgot to mention, I’m also riding in baggies BUT have put some SPD pedals on to try, always used flats before but I must admit I’m quite liking them.I need a peakless lid now.

Nice,I got a arkose 2 on Saturday ,never had anything like it before either and the gears are totally new to me,I have to actually think about which way to change gear and at first kept changing the wrong way lol. I thought I would need bar top levers as well but I’ve done about 70: miles on it this week on and off road and it’s all starting to feel normal now and you can brake easily enough off the hoods.
I really like it so far although it feels wrong riding it on rough stoney trails on the skinny tyres with 50psi! when I’m used to a fat bike with about 7psi.

Picked up a Pinnacle arkose 2 on Saturday,i’ve only ever had mountain bikes before so I have nothing to compare it to,but it looks and feels like a nice bit of kit to me,did 30 miles on it yesterday ,mix of road, canal paths and some stoney gravelly type fire roads on Cannock chase and it did everything well.

Well after all the indecisiveness I picked up a

Pinnacle arkose 2, lovely looking bike ,only ridden it for a couple of miles so far and it feels straaange. No surprises really as I am used to riding a fat bike!
Thanks for all the opinions and advice.

I have reserved one now, at 5’10 and 32″ inseam halfords website puts me firmly on a large 55.5cm,trouble is the boardman website puts me firmly on a medium 53cm!
I have reserved the 55.5 but having second thoughts now. What size are you guys riding ?

No discount on the team unfortunately, still priced at a grand . Probably a good thing really as that would make my decision even more difficult . LOL

Great, glad you enjoyed it, going to pull the trigger on either the Boardman or the tiagra GT grade later (I think LOL) pulling my hair out trying to make a decision!

Thanks, not looking to spend that much though to be honest as it will just be a winter bike to encourage me to keep up a bit of fitness and dip my toes into a bit of not too serious road riding with a few fire roads, canals and bridleways thrown in.Currently torn between the Al tiagra for£650 and the Boardman cx comp with sora but tougher wheels and more clearance so I’m told which can be had for £500 at the moment!

Thanks, looking forward to your thoughts Robbo.

Still love my cheapie dune as well.Only really bought it so I had something a bit different to ride over winter while I sorted out all the bits that needed doing on my 650b anthem.
Finished the anthem , took it out expecting to find everything so much easier, faster ,better than on the fatbike and I was wrong.I didn’t enjoy it as much either so it’s hardly been used since and the dune is the go to bike.
So why I keep looking at skinny wheeled gravel bikes I don’t know!
I suppose I could swop my dune for your dude if you wanted lol.

Thanks for all the information folks.Still not sure what to do.hmmmmm.I think I need to see one in the flesh for sizing, also a bit concerned about the clearance as I am an off roader at heart.

I’m ready to buy but worried about sizing.Thinking 55cm,any owners in?Unable to try unfortunately but wouldn’t know what I was looking for anyway as I’ve never had this kind of bike.
I was sized for a m/l giant defy recently but decided against a road only bike.

Having similar thoughts myself, currently torn between a rigid 29er or something like a giant revolt that would be decent on the road and can take 50mm tyres so would still be ok off road?
I’ll be keeping my fat bike for proper off the beaten track stuff though.

Same here too,how do those cx/gravel bikes do on the tarmac compared to a proper road bike though? I’m also an off roader at heart but have been thinking of a road bike lately as some of my mates are getting them, prefer the idea of a gravel bike.Would an average rider on a gravel bike keep up with an average rider on a road bike easy enough?

Still got mine, ridden it in all conditions and it’s still got all the standard bits and it’s still going strong.Great bikes for the money.

I’ve been considering a road bike recently, but some on here suggested a gravel bike might be a better thing for a mountain biker.I found this that looks really good to me ,and might be of interest to you,I would love to hear the opinions of others on here.
