I’ve got an S7 a couple of months ago and am very happy with that, but I specifically wanted a good camera. My mate has just got a wileyfox swift 2 plus and that looks very good. I think I’d be happy with that if I was okay with a camera that is not as good as the S7.

I suggest you shut down the Tacx Utility aand Zwift Mobile link on the phone and also switch Bluetooth off. Try to connect Zwift and check everything works on on the laptop. I *think* multiple device or apps trying to connect via BT causes these types of problems
If you can connect this way, you can then fire up Bluetooth on the phone and launch the mobile link…

Thanks – I tried this order of things and it seems a bit more reliable. However, it still shows up only under Power and Cadence and not under Controllable Trainer – is that normal?

Wow – getting this going is tougher than I expected. My Tacx 2240 turned up today. I installed the tacx utility on my android phone and updated the firmware – so far so good. The Tacx app shows my speed, etc.

Next to link to Zwift – Mobile app installed and zwift on laptop – after a lot of starting, restarting, etc I finally got the 2240 showing up as a power meter and cadence sensor, but not as a controllable trainer.

Coming back to it after some food I now can’t get it to link at all. A quick google suggested some issues with android bluetooth so I tried my wife’s iphone and my tablet with no better luck.

I can consistently get the trainer to show up in the Tacx utility app and get a link from the Zwift mobile app to the PC, but can’t get any further than that.

If anyone had any suggestions they will be greatly welcomed. Meanwhile I am off to hunt for a cheap ant dongle.

@nathb – thanks I will try it that way, bit judging by your later comments I may find myself investing in an ANT dongle!

Apologies if this question is already covered in this thread, but I’ve not had time to read it all as yet.

Inspired by what I have read so far, I have ordered a Tacx Flow T2240 and while I am waiting for it to turn up I just wanted to check that I can use it with just a bluetooth connection either via my phone or with my laptop if it supports bluetooth v4.0?

Assuming I am correct here, is there any functionality that I will be missing vs using an ANT dongle?

    Thanks

I did this back in late February so saw little traffic other that other cyclists. It was pretty much a perfect ride for a morning’s outing and the cafe at the lighthouse was surprisingly excellent. I’d love to do it again.

    Have fun!

We have a couple of those Bodum mugs and find they are great – keep drinks very hot (assuming they start out hot) and no leaks at all. As a bonus one of them has a cafetiere attachment which works pretty well too.

I used these guys earlier this, but was staying in the attached hotel that made this the easiest option – http://bikesviva.com/www/%5B/url%5D

I had a Cannondale Synapse from them which was spot on

I’ve been lucky enough to do Lufthansa business, BA business, JAL F and business from the UK and NZ business from NZ.JAL was head and shoulders above the others.

Whatever you decide, enjoy being there. That’s the important bit and I’m very jealous

It sounds like this may be similar to using a Chromecast with a VPN. There the issue is that the Chromecast is hard set to use Google’s DNS settings rather than your router’s settings. The way around this is to set a static route on the router to direct traffic destined for the google DNS server IP addresses to your router so it uses the router’s settings instead. To do this you need to know the IP addresses that the sonos is using for its DNS.

Hope this makes sense and helps?

    Another happy customer here…

I’ve used a pair of dhb roubaix shorts for the last couple of years and they are excellent. I add knee warmers (also dhb roubaix) when it gets a bit colder and it’s a great combination.

I’ve also picked up a pair of the 3/4s this year and they seem great too.

    Labyrinth?

We have the kids version and our 5 year old is just about okay with it and we enjoy it as well. I would think either the kids or the full version would be okay for older children.

whereisthurso – that sounds like a bargain if that price is correct. I have the 105 CAAD X and am really pleased with it.

Thanks Atlazs. No miles left in my star alliance accounts… Just as well as I don’t really need the temptation.

    Hi atlaz,

Just curious where / how did you redeem air miles for this? Just wondering if I can put mine to good use…

I put in a grand a few years back and it has steadily grown to about £1300 now. I’ve not done much in the way of managing it and have let it auto lend to my set markets. I’ve had once instance of bad debt in that time.

So no complaints really, but then I have yet to take any money out so don’t know how easy that will be…

The 500 door mechanism is shared with the the Alfa GT (a much older car) and has been a known fault for many years

That’s odd – I had an Alfa GT a few years back and the doors were about the only thing that didn’t break at some point! Even so, I do miss it…

All the ideas above are great.

I think Kamakura / Enoshima is a nice day trip to the coast and is an easy hour or so from Tokyo.

    Oh and enjoy the food!

+1 for the Montane Featherlite. I have the velo h2o version and it’s great, but I slightly regret getting it in black and wish I’d got a brighter colour for when I’m on the road and it’s raining…

I’ve just got a CAADX 105 via cycle to work – seemed nice on the 3 mile run to the shops I’ve managed so far, but can’t wait to get it on a proper ride with some off road too.

I have the CAADX. I’ve changed the brakes for Spyres and wheels for Kinesis Crosslight Cx’s

This is more or less the plan for mine eventually – the stock brakes don’t seem great but I see a comment above that they need a lot of bedding in…

I was also happy to find that the huge stickers on the wheels come off very easily and tone things down a tiny bit!

I was tempted by one of these as it seems a bargain, but I’m put off by the comments on battery life – does anyone have experience of this vs a hudl2? I have a hudl2 but the only things I don’t like about it is a pretty short battery life.

    Cheers.

Glad you’re sorted, but as mentioned above Kindles used with Calibre make a great combination. You can convert epubs to the kindle format very easily and, if you are so inclined, can also remove the DRM from amazon purchases (not that you should!)

+1 for what oldnpastit said – I got an HP laser printer / scanner for about £70 a couple of years back and it’s so much better than any inkjet I’ve had. The toner that came with it is still going and replacements are cheap. The great thing is it just works even if you go for ages without printing anything – no more dried / clogged cartridges…

We have Aerons in the office and, oddly, I don’t find them that great. I’ve heard that Steelcase Leap chairs are very good and supportive. As a bonus, used ones seem to be reasonably cheap on ebay (at least much less than an Aeron)

I’m going to find somewhere to try one and if I like it will be getting one for the home office.

I’m midway through Dune at the moment and am enjoying that a lot. I also second the recommendations for Wool.

The Martian is next on my list and, after that, I may finally get around to Leviathan Wakes that has been on my ‘to read’ list for a while.

I have one of the Manrose MF100s which I installed to replace a low flow cheapo fan we previously had so re-used the previous ducting, etc. It cost about £50 and is good and extracts well, but over the winter has been very rattly / noisy when it has been cold. Mine is up in the loft and near the edge of the house so I guess this may just be that it is at the limit of its comfort when temperatures are low.

mj27 – is your insulation just for the ducting or for the fan unit too?

Got my magazine and confirmation that I got in today. I entered and didn’t get in on the first year and didn’t apply last year.

Best drag myself out in the cold and start riding slightly more often now, I guess…

The letter I got suggests you have to collect your starter pack / timing chip on the few days before the event which sounds like it will be inconvenient for those not near London…

Iain – thanks very much for the link. I was just being lazy and hadn’t got around to searching myself.

I figured out the rear light once I read the instructions!

All in all this looks like a real bargain – thanks again to the OP

Mine just arrived too – also from the £19 deal. Looks pretty good to me. I’ve not had a proper play yet, but assume the rear light can be turned off.

Assuming so, does anyone have a suggestion for a bar mount?
