Smelly kits gets promoted to cleaning/greasing rags.

I think I’ll give the more fruit/veg/water thing a try. I’d heard that a high meat diet makes you smell more

I’ll second what markcurtains is saying, Waller is a good little shop. If you’re tall I recommend a Sunday Model C which is a cruiser with 24″ wheels. I bought this from Waller after riding a 20″ (Fly Proton) for about a year. 20″ was too twitchy for me

They claim I owe an extra £330 for 13 months of usage. I didn’t suspect anything was wrong as they were happily DD about £65pcm from my account.

The revised final bill is all based on estimated readings including the first ever ‘deemed’ reading. The only definitive reading I believe they have is from the new residents at my old house.

I hope the law on back billing will protect me; hopefully the ombudsman will agree with this…

Cheers Jakester- not the answer I was hoping for. I await their response with interest

My issue is they have not informed me of any error I’ve made over the past year and then have re-billed me to adjust for their error.

If you buy something and at time of purchase they undercharge you but neither party is aware then retrospectively charging is not normal practice. This may sound naive or like nit picking but its ruffled my feathers!

I’ve owned a Charge SS, steel with full mud guards and flat bars. I think it was a Grater. And I currently own a Day One. The Day One offers more versatility as it can fit larger tyres and I like it as a bike. I think the newer Charge bikes with the aluminium frames have lost some of the quality of the older steel ones.

To copy the basic geometry of the exisitng link you’ll need a vernier for accurate measurements especially of the bearing sockets.

I’d reccomend Solidworks over Creo as its easier to learn IME. I’ve never used any free CAD software like Sketchup so not sure if that’d be any good.

And to get one made without the hassle of producing an engineering drawing I recommend a company called Firstcut as they take 3d CAD data and have a good website that’ll give you a quote.

Cheers everyone; whilst the chain and sprocket look good I think I will buy a chain ring, chain and sprocket for a mighty cost of £21.47!

This is an interesting post, I used to ride MTB lots, raced enduro for a season and I think in many ways the racing killed mtb for me. Got too serious and too expensive.

Alongside that I’ve always commuted by bike and recently got a sscx bike for commuting duties. And then discovered how much fun tame trails are on a rigid 700c simple bike.

And alongside all of that I got a bmx so now get my gnar points from trying to jump.

Both bmx and cx/road are less faff, less tech, less cost and less marketing but strangEly are more fun.

I don’t think there was a mix up with gas and electric.

Could someone also explain the difference between a customer and routine meter reading?

So after another protracted conversation with First Utility I’m still confused… and I didn’t record this conversation :/

We owned the house in question, sold on the 29/10/15 with final metre reading submitted of 9013.

The new owners or their tenants then submitted their reading including a photo to First Utility giving a vastly different reading of ~10523 on 07/11/15.

What Marie stated tonight was that all my meter readings from 09/14-09/15 had been rejected. These had been submitted on their app. She said I hadn’t entered the correct amount of digits (5), but the app only allows a 4 digit entry!?

I’m confused and not having any evidence supporting my cause fear I’ll have to pay up.

If this post is in response to mine about cycling on dual carriage ways I think garage-dweller under stood the question I was asking. I wasn’t judging the lycra clad, moron.

[Ultimately you have no idea why a cyclist might be riding along a main road and until you actually have a face to face chat with them]

    That’s a good idea!

I didn’t expect my query to get so many responses

I too used to commute between Sheffield and Chesvegas and tried the A61 which is smooth and has a mini hard shoulder but getting buzzed by trucks at 60mph rapidly lost its appeal

As said above this path is good in every way, I agree most are shit and I generally ride on the road, which in Sheffield/Rotherham is often in poor condition.

But given the choice between road and a good path I’d always choose the path.

I strava the route and don’t think this is the reason

For the year I’ve used the path dog shit and glass has not been an issue. And I don’t care unlike some motorists. But I do wonder why

In 13+ years of mainly riding off road and commuting I don’t think any geared bike has come close to the idiosyncratic joy or riding SS

Budget is modest but willing to invest in quality i.e. £500 for a frame

Commute is 6miles and happy to compromise on this area; commute offers lots of options for smiles: stairs, offroad bits etc.

As for tweaking having 2 wheel sets would be ok.

    Whens the new trailstar out?

I’ll vote IN as I can’t see any negatives of our current situation. Can an OUT voter explain their reasoning for that choice?

Bars are centred and bunny hopping is OK; a foot is probably towards the upper limit though. For these jumps pulling up is required for getting decent air but if I pull I pull up on the piss!

    mlbaker

Cheers Kudos100, I think I have a tendency to try too much with my upper body.

And yes I went wrong when trying to air, just rolling works ok but isn’t spectacular!

I’m certainly willing to put more time in but progress is slow.

    MTB is a hardtail.

And its the take off that I can’t get right, often going off on the piss, especially when I really try to pull up.

Not sure about the chamfers; I would deburr it and hope for the best! As I am a designer I can try for free

No, definitely the valve core as; the pumping was a lot ‘stiffer’ before but not it pumps up in a more regular fashion (if that makes sense!?).

And I fully recommend servicing forks as they feel supper smooth now!

    mlbaker

A new valve core seems to of sorted it out; not sure what was wrong with the old one but it clearly wasn’t working properly

    mlbaker
    Free Member

It started by me playing about with something that wasn’t broken…

I have just serviced them: new seals and oil with a full clean of all the internals- no sign of obvious damage. And yes PeterPoddy there isn’t much too them!

The shock pump is a candidate which I can’t rule out yet as I haven’t got a spare.

And my mate at work has given me some spare valve cores which are going in once my boss leaves the office!
