@matt_outandabout I appreciate the point that I have indeed got the voucher but what wasn’t clear is that if during the application process a bike sells out I can’t cancel the voucher.

This doesn’t seem very fair on the customer.

I will try some local shops to see what stock they have; my employer has thankfully agreed to defer salary deductions until I’ve found a suitable bike.

Thanks @jairaj, I will check the T&c’s. Irrespective there can’t be many systems where you get charged for something you have neither received nor ordered!

    I await their response.

Cheers all, I’m not convinced by electric yet, there are quite a few Nissan Leafs for sale locally though.

A Yeti is nice but they are usually very high mileage at my budget and automatic.

Both petrol and diesel have catalysts fitted according to a quick Google…

Cheers Matt, a Seat Ibiza estate is one of the cars on the list and a local garage has one. The other would be a Fabia estate but the Seat looks better.

I appreciate that but I think older Honda’s and Toyota’s are particularly easy to access. I’m not sure if the newer Jazz’s are harder to rob?

I’ve had a mole removed on my face at local GP. I’d ask your doctor first before paying for the procedure.

My mole was annoying when shaving and I also didn’t like it’s appearance. Procedure was quick, local anesthetic with a scalpel.

Would add that the doctor checked several times if I’m happy with the risk of a scar on my face but TBH the mark left is better than the mole!

Thanks all for your respective responses, will see how it goes trying to steer her round.

I find it hard to empathise with her point of view without getting annoyed instantly.

Cheers sparks, I’ll try the softly softly approach and plant some seeds before resorting to the ultimatum.

And yes Cougar, it pissed me right off during today’s phone call when she expressed her hope 🤬

Cheers all, I’ve not plucked up the courage for an ultimatum but can see it heading that way.

Cheers both, TJ – this is what I fear and it’ll be detrimental to a relationship for no good reason.

Cougar, I’m very much of the same mindset as you. Don’t think she reads any paper let alone those two excellent publications

I own the Virus (2020 version); it’s not as nice or fast as the Genesis Day One it replaced and my BB lasted about a month before needing replacement but for the money it’s a good commuter…

The 2020 version has 2.1 MTB tires so I do take it through the woods on my way to work a lot, all parts except BB seem good, nothing exciting but functional.

    Cheers

Edit: I would add that I got the large size and at 6’2″ it’s close to being too small for me – quite short TT

Regarding reviews on CRC was just looking for more opinions really.

    Cheers all.

Watching Icarus on Netflix extinguished all hope that drug use in high level amateur endurance sport and above isn’t commonplace/required to be at comparable levels of performance.

Cheers all, I heard about flight radar on here so knew there was some flying knowledge on here.

Regarding the Vulcan, I wasn’t living in Rotherham then but saw the grounded one at Woodford many times 👍🏻

That Spa looks nice, another option is a Fuji Feather, Wiggle have some in stock. I replaced a Day One with one of these https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/vitus-vee-29-city-bike-ss-2020/rp-prod183574

A regrettable choice as it’s not very exciting nor fast. Good value though.

Edit: and to be fair it has allowed so more interesting commuting routes 🤔

Another positive vote from me for Tiger sheds; got a bike type shed – panels all straight, easy to assemble and seems solid. The same couldn’t be said of the BillyOh shed it replaced!

Working at Halfords, older man comes in with brake failure on his cheap & nasty Halfords special with cable disc brakes.

    First issue: brakes were squeaking

Corrective action (by customer): lubricate brakes including pads & rotor with WD-40

In fairness it solved the squeaking…

I’ve not read the Brexit thread but have been
sucked into this little one. Mooman, you don’t argue your case well. I too would like you to present some links to backup your opinion. I get that articles in some papers will be anti Brexit and all doom etc. But certain publications/outlets, like Chemistry World will just be presenting facts, why would they have political bias?

    Brexit is a **** mess.

@IHN I believe the dog did have behaviour issues but it was never exercised outside of its garden at any time which probably didn’t help it’s sanity.

As said it was the speed at which the neighbour has acted which took us back.

    Thanks all, Martin

    Thanks mooman, great response.

I believe the dog was mistreated. A grave in their garden implies it is dead.

The suprise is the speed at which they’ve decided to change the situation.

Odyssey Springfield – best BMX brake IMO and not super expensive

Low cost + no time = BMX

BMXs are cheap and smash yourself around a pump track or skatepark for an hour a week is a full body work out. Skateparks have a added advantage of being open late i.e. after kids have gone to sleep

Yes the backwards manual to fakie is awesome!

I think Mongoose are clever having Akrigg. They’ve got probably the best all round rider, capable of riding all their range, a range targeted to a lower end/beginner/kids section that is the biggest market for selling bikes too.

Bikes clearly capable, despite their cost, to world class riding.

When JC first came on the leadership scene I like many younger voters felt, naively perhaps, that he was different by being trustworthy and some of his policies resonated with me.

Now with Brexit he’s complicit in the failure that has become and Labour offer me nothing as a voter so I’ll be voting Green again

My suspicion of overcharge has proven unfounded as another local garage was at £133 so the extra £17 isn’t worth moaning about!

    Thanks all :)

No outrage Roland, just the annoying feeling one gets after buying something only to see it cheaper elsewhere. A true first world problem.

And Sarah Wok, slightly annoyingly the car had a rattle that I was convinced was from something on the front left but evidently was the failing exhaust that both I and the same garage failed to diagnose during its annual service in February.

Cheers Nick, spot on with the first paragraph and I think I’ll request a copy of their trading accounts to understand the costs of running the garage… Labour at £100h could be worth a career change!

The part fitted is a Klarius HA320D. Assuming part was £50 then £50 seems reasonable for 0.5h labour

    mlbaker

ECP part cost is £50 but I appreciate the speed maybe their justification for the cost.

I’ll call them and try my luck. Cheers all
