    No worries Tinas.
I just agreed with the OP about keyboard worriers. No offence meant to anyone here-it’s just the internet after all.
Gives me something to read when I should be working and its often informative and entertaining(sometimes in the same thread)

I’ll get back in my lurkers corner now as most folk post what I’m thinking before I get a chance to type it.

    Beer and welshcakes….mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Cheers for that TINAS but I’m not the same person as the OP or defending him.

mk1ea is right-there is a lot of BS spouted here about the tour as well as a few other things.

Also some good points raised by others so fairly balanced.

CRC own Hotlines and Decade Distribution so they are selling the same frame to whoever buys it first.

    Please?

I quite often agree with you but your point is well and truly proven. You have ridden motorbikes since they were horse drawn we get it.

I stayed clear of motorbikes (I don’t drive cars) until my early 30’s.
I bought a 125 in the summer and moved to Wales with it in the autumn.
My little CG125 did 12000 miles from June until the following easter when I got a full licence.I was doing stupid trips from Swansea to MK and back each weekend(400 odd miles)

It was a horrible winter and a horrible journey on that little bike but I glad I put the miles in on a little bike and took the little spills at lower speeds.A bigger bike straight off and I don’t think I would have made it as far as the bridge.

Now go book your CBT and have some fun 😀

Whatever you choose enjoy the freedom and huge smile it will bring!

Al-If you’d like the vintage look but not the vintage tyres/brakes take a look a t the modern Enfields.

All 400cc 28bhp.Lots of variants cafe racer/electra clubman/scrambler or woodsman I think its called.

Nice on a nice Sunday and ok for a trip ’bout town.A lot more reliable than the older ones.
Someone may have suggested this on the other thread but I lost interest.
If you’re serious about a bike as others have said get some miles and some training in.

Good luck, have fun and take care on the roads….I declined a duel with an Audi on the M4 this morning-they are all out to get you.

Longest run I ever did 2 up was to collect a mate from Bristol airport who was buying a car from a mate in my village-all motorway though no complaints-she’s a biker too.

Take a look at Honda Trail Bike Forums-lots of good advice on there-maybe someone who’ll help find you a bike too.

I have a 650 transalp – had it for a year this week-20000 miles no probs-comfy,power not an issue for me as not a racer boy.
Used every day to commute and at weekends for trips to Edinburgh or Snowdon (I’m in Swansea)
    I don’t need a bigger bike than that…

If you can get an AT in good condition go for it.

I was pitting/feeding for 2 mates doing the 6 hour and was sat on the concrete track just down from the arena-I think a few 6 hour riders missed the briefing and started with the 12’s as I saw quite a few green 6 hour number boards come through with the black 12 hour ones in the first bunch.

A good event on the whole from trackside-my mates really enjoyed it and I got wetter travelling there and back from Wales on the moto than I did sat watching for 6 hours

I do it now and again down here in Wales, usually wait until after the pubs have closed and stick to the unclassified roads out in the hills.

For lights I do the same as parkesie above and use my off road lights just on lowest setting.

Good fun just let someone know where you’re headed and roughly when you’re due back.

They are quite large-not so much fat as tall-too tall for my rs reba, the tread would catch on the brace but with a rigid fork (more clearance…?) you should be fine

Haven’t read all of the above but if you fancy a bike go for it.

3 years ago I moved from middle of England to Wales.
Bought a cg125-(never driven a car) did 12000 miles and a tough winter on it.
I’m just over 6ft tall and felt daft on a cg-The varadero 125 is probably the best big little bike out there but they hold there value so don’t come cheap even second hand.
Glad I did a winter on a little bike or I might not be here now.
Passed DAS 2 years ago and bought a new sv650s-26000 miles on that.Lovely bike for a newbie but not the best position for a tall bloke-fun for about an hour then sore wrists-try a naked version if you can they have proper bars and a more upright position.
I swapped the sv for a 650 transalp.
A great bike for tall people-I wish I’d bought one first.

Start small whatever you try-be careful and have fun-you will love it!

    Another job in another town.

Cycling the long way home through some singletrack.
    Ipod on,minding my own business
Noticed 2 bikes in the woods and a couple enjoying some al fresco loving, legs akimbo.

Nice day for it I thought and carried on riding minding my own business.

If I had paid a little more attention I would have recognised my old Gary Fisher leaning against the tree.
Popped round to a mates for a cuppa and shared the tale.

The next day get a phone call at work from a different mate-the one who had bought my old Fisher explaining that it was him,but it wasn't his gf.
It was his gf's brothers gf and that this had been going on for years.
Worried that I'd spill the beans.
    I really hadn't noticed(wouldn't recognise his backside!)

He was called shagger from then on.
