Is the cassette loose on the freehub? Does it need a spacer so the lock ring tightens it all up.

have 3 kids and are are angels and monsters at various times but certain things have to be off limits.

These would include swear words, known by the kids but not used.
    Kicking in nuts

There are others but (like your latest issue) they need to be put in the never repeat category.

Parenting is hard and creates arguments between adults, keep doing you best, it is better than doing nothing. You will know how well you did in 20 years time.

I had this at a school and it turned out that the water table was really high, a bit like digging on the beach.

If it is refilling overnight are you sure it is a leak as there should be next to no water flowing down the pipe, unless you are actively putting it there.

I would turn off your water for a good while to see if you are producing the water or if it is getting there naturally.

Same issue here, I even get it dropped in my drive or tipped off about where it has been seen. I see it all as a way of reducing the gas bill for the central heating.

The kids love a morning restocking the log store, me on the chain saw, the 2 older ones working the log splitter and the 6 year old stacking the wood store. It reminds me of the great things I did with my dad as a kid that mean more to you as both me and my dad get older.

I work in a school using Google Apps, have a Chrome book, an Android phone and am typing this on a Chrome base.

I have learnt the Google way very quickly, happy to help if and where I can.

It might be easier to post specific issues to allow exact answers. Email me if you want.

I have a forerunner 305 from my fell running days that I now have working on the bike with a speed/cadence sensor (GSC-10) and the Garmin heart rate strap.

    All wireless, ANT+ I think

So I get all you ask except the water resistance but you can get newer garmin watches that will do all you ask and switch between the activities easily.

Read about this car tonight while waiting to get my hair cut, in top gear mag or what car. They were happy with it but mpg was way down from expected. Why buy a 1.0 focus, you can get better cars for £9k.

We have granite but I had all the edges chanfered and the corners rounded, partly to stop them hurting the children in the house and to stop it looking tatty with use over the years. It was no issue for the workshop.

That looks like 25mm flexible conduit or a washing machine waste pipe.

£1000 was a “don’t think this will be cheap” starter number. I too have done all the work to my house and know even then an ensuite is not cheap but then that is impacted by the spec I selected.

I never use trades, just teach myself as the cost of quotes is too painful.

Recent rear extension to my house; Quote £29k built by me for £4.5k
Porch to my house; Quote £12.8k built by me for £2.2

Please don’t take this as a dig at the trades but getting stuck in and learning/doing can save £££££. Think how long it would take to save up?

    PS. not a builder/electrician/plumber.

If you go cheap then £1000 beyond that then there is no limit.

They are expensive places to fit out and you need yours to be created before this. You will need to decide on the following before you can get even a rough estimate.

    Shower; Electric/combi fed/tank fed/powered/thermostatic
    Shower tray; size
    Shower screen; sliding/folding/opening
Extraction; cheap flexi fan system of proper unit with rigid ducting.
    Lighting
Heated towel rail or some other heating
Mirror; will steam up, suggest a heated one.
Charger socket for shaver of toothbrushes
Tiling; choose how much is tiled, size and type of tiles and the cost of the trims
    Under floor heating if required
Toilet; back to the wall/wall hung/in vanity unit.
    Sink;single/corner
Sink taps; massive price and quality difference.

You need to be a good customer to get a good quote, that means knowing what you want and knowing that changing your mind WILL cost you.

I have not stated that teachers have it easy, that can be saved for others to start on another thread, I have been a teacher in a former life.

My comment was around the employee/employer contribution ratios for teachers compared to other professions, not working until 68.

I too have a pension that some would be considered reasonable but I will only know in 30 years time. If you wish to retire early then that is a change to your pension agreement and for this reason you get penalised. Just stop teaching, and claim your pension at a later date, though you will need to fund the gap between these two dates.

Quirrel,I know (hope) it is a joke BUT check the T&C’s of your insurance and you usually find suicide is not covered in the policy.

As for winging about a teachers pension, take a look around at other employee/employer contribution ratios then crawl back and keep quiet!

I went on the Bolle website and then ordered all the ones I liked from Amazon. It gave me the chance to find which ones I liked best, let the kids have next dibs at the rest. All happy with them and for about £5 each. Had Oakleys in the past, lost, broken or scratched them all.

Have done a fair bit of block paving during the many additions to my house. It does look easy but the hard work is in the prep. If you want to motivate yourself get a quote then price up the materials, you could even afford a bike from the difference. It is satisfying to look back on having done the work yourself, just follow the paving expert and get the edges and base right.

Have a 6 year old who can light them for me, trained by his 10 year old brother, all skills passed down from Dad (Me)

Use well dried wood, it may feel OK but it takes time for wood to be good enough to start a fire.

Manrose Mixflo range in 150mm diameter on high flow with rigid extraction and all insulated to reduce condensation if it goes into the roof space.

This can shift 500m2/hr and will make a big difference.

It will make some noise but any high flow fan will and I have fitted dampers to stop the back flow from the wind.

It is worth spending money in this area or all your good work will not look so good in 2 years time. Just get it right first time by not fitting a cheap 30m2/hr one for £20.

Running off a combi especially that close will be good, the pressure will fall in the normal working range for most mixer shower valves so you can ignore all the extra cost for the ones that mention high or low pressure.

Make sure you fit a thermostatic mixer so nobody gets a super hot shower due to other water damand in the house. I always fit Grohe, expensive but they just work with no problems for 9 years.

Has the same issue with heating controls in a school refurb I managed, complaints mainly came from females with TRVs on 5, aircon on max, windows open and the fire door propped open.

We ended up giving them control of the heating controls to ‘their’ rooms and the complaints stopped. Best thing is that these controls were connected to nothing and did nothing.

Just put a headset (FSA 11N) into my daughters new bike.

Go onto the FSA website and look at the tech docs and get measuring, it was the only way to work out the new standards.

How has it got so complicated…..

You can get all the photos you take to automatically upload to Google Drive via an IFTTT app and select the recipe for either android or iOS. I also use it to automatically put all email attachments in the drive as well.

could you do it with some chamfer edge skirting in 25mm thickness. Go to a timber merchants and explain what you want to do, they should try to help, it’s a sale to them if they get it right.

no you won’t die but your mech might. Either that or you will weaken the spring so in lower gears it will not be as tight.

Once paid to the bank to clear some of the mortgage you will not easily get it back. Look at the interest rates of savings available and the rate you are paying. Fill your ISA allowances each year could be the simplest way of keeping the money accessible while earning more interest than your mortgage costs

    It’s all about the rates…..

Daughter (age 11) has had one for the last few months, is is a neat unit and quite small behind her ear in a nice pink colour (other colours available).

She has found it great and now realises how much she should have been hearing, she can hear conversations that she is not meant to aswell. The hospital are great and can program the unit to react differently and adjust it in many ways.

To show how discreet they are, I found out at christmas that my sister has had them for 2 years with out me knowing…

We got a Firebelly FB1 which I think looks reasonably modern. They are also conveniently made just down the road from me but this was not a massive factor in the choice. They do a multi fuel kit if you want to burn coal but we only use logs.

You need to start getting wood stacked now for next year…….

You need to manage the estate agents as br said above, they work for you and if you are not happy talk to then. They take a lot in commission so get them to work for it

    but

you need to provide them with the goods to sell and follow/ask for their advice.

Selling houses is hard work for the seller, remove the emotion from selling your home and sell a house. Done it many times, work the estate agents hard and cut out any BS.

The lift needs to be recommissioned to bring it back into service, this would be a reasonable request from you to the landlord. This is the area I would sort first. Surely you rent the building and its facilities, such as a working lift. It will either be broken of require annual certification, both are a cost which the landlord is taking as a saving (and not passing on to you).

    OR

As the host of the meeting your company should have made provision for access to the meeting, if this means holding it at another venue then that is also reasonable.

The cost of adjustments is not a good excuse to discriminate against someone, the law sees it that way aswell.

A fan makes it much better as you will get hot very quickly and this will restrict your performance.

Also you will need to ease the boredom with films or music. Focus on using it for quality and intervals rather than duration.

Always stayed in the bunk house or the log cabins at logcabinswales.co.uk

If we are going as a group of more than 10 then we book the bunk house, it’s a 10 second walk to the pub and great for a group, otherwise we book 1/2 log cabins.

Booking has always been straight forward.

Considered triple glazing for our new bay window and porch extension, bought all the windows direct from the manufacturer. I asked him for the pros and cons, he said don’t bother for the heat loss side but do for sound. He only has double on his house. New double glazing is much better than that of 10/15 years ago and the fitting is important, a lot of heat is lost in those areas that the installers cover with the plastic trims. I fitted my own and it has made a massive difference.

Got this phone when it first came out a few months ago for £155, it has ended the need for carrying a works and personal phone everywhere.

It is a great phone, would buy again if it got broken.

Just paint it the same colour as the rest of the chimney breast, they see if you feel the need to add a mantle. We fitted an oak one whilst having a mirror above, then the Mrs arranged ornaments on it and complained when I messed it up with keys/phone/wallet…

Have had the same issue, we settled on a mirror, it helped to see what was going on behind, easy to clean and cheaper.
