Val opens the 1st July apparently but still a lot of snow (more due tomorrow!) so think they may have a couple runs open but no link to Tignes.
Still it’s free though for the season!

Sorry to hijack this thread but I’m struggling for help…I’m actually torn between the Four and Five. However, here is my dilemma – I live in the Alps but aiming to ride less ‘downhill’ and more trail!
Do you think the Four is man enough or am I better staying with the Five??

i’m off to the alps next week so if i’m not dead i’ll let you know how they work on long descents

I’m there already. Where are you going professor?

So will this let me run a ‘180’ (not 183) disc on the rear with a PM mono-mini caliper?

I’ve still got a set on my 5 with big rotors (200/180).

balfa what mounting are you using for the rear 180?

My problem fellas is Hope say I can’t use the 180 disc on the rear and need a 183. Their mounting chart confirms this as I can’t see a 180-IS frame (rear) to PM claiper listed. Mount ‘B’ is IS to PM 183 disc.

Is the 183 something new then? Can I use another manufacturers mount?

    Thanks everyone.

So as not to start a new thread.

OP, with big rotors, they’ll probably be alright, most of the time

The Mono-Minis are ‘ok’… I had to change the front disc to a 183 as I now have a PM fork. I have a 160 on the back at the moment but the disc is finished.

I have a spare 180 disc and my question is can I use this? The Alpine160 is IS frame to PM caliper. On asking Hope they have said I need another 183 and new mount.

Can I use another manufacturers mount?

Ordered a 32T Gold a week ago last Monday and it arrived couple days after no problem.

Did email with a query regards mounting it front or back of spider as the tabs looked like they were going to be close to the chain…

Some feedback on anyone using one of these would be nice.

Has anyone ever though of going to the Alps to do any proper riding, ie not just going up lifts for a week?

To be honest in a place like this I think you would struggle without them!

Don’t forget Tignes-Val d’Isere if you like the area. 5 FREE lifts linking the 2 resorts and some pretty good trail and ‘off-piste’ riding (and I’m no expert!).
Val’s not the ghost town you expect during July-August and there’s some pretty good accommodation to be had.
PM me if anyone’s around. I’m there and welcome riding buddies.

Thank you. So would you pay £500 for a 2013 Pike RCT3 over the Slant RL2 R?
