I’d like to see this flying surrounded by those 34 spitfires they’re about to dig up in Burma

Floats much smoother, also didn’t use my Talas much when on my 5, didn’t miss it at all when I switched to Floats. I think Talas is a bit of a gimmick.

Another one for not dying on the Mega and qualifying sufficiently well to get a mass start race.
Low point the bloody weather, will it ever end :(

Another one to just MTFU and make the case that you work your nuts off so are entitled to a bit of enjoyment. Thats assuming you do work your nute off otherwise you might just want to go with the leaving it on the bed idea :-)

Cheers guys, just ordered a Hope from Wiggle but had I seen how cheap Rose is beforehand I’d porbably have gone with XTR. Great prices :o

Tough one, this is more down to you and where you want to meet him. Choose to hold out advising it was perfect when you sold it or make him a goodwill partial refund. Transport was at his risk as he arranged the courier but I’d politely state your position and see what comes back.

I don’t think its a crack, looks like excess material pushed along/picked up by a finishing process. I wonder if they press a brooching tool down the headtube after fabrication and thats whats drawn the material along like that ? Its pretty poor anyway and needs a dose of looking at for sure.

I’ve been to CP a couple of times and took my 5 last time but went for a couple of laps round Sherwood pines a couple of evenings.

IMO if you’ve got a bike and you want to take it, even if its just to cruise round the site, do it. Save on the extortion that is CP bike hire.

On the whole CP – why would you at all ? issue, 3 times has been more than enough for me. Too expensive, too many ignorant, arrogant fellow human beings and not that much to get excited about really.

We opted for a weekend in Blackpool with the kids instead last time (yeah Blackpool I know) but we got a family room in the Hilton for £99 and got Tesco clubcard tickets to Blackpool Zoo, Tower Circus and the Sea Life Centre and we had a cracking weekend, much better than CP. All three places we visited were superb.

I had poured the last bottle of wine down the sink.

Give yourself some credit mate for what you’ve managed to do in the last couple of days. Sounds like you’re well on the way to me.

Pedalling will probably help – amazing how a couple of hours in the saddle can take you somewhere else.

Rubbish this must eb so tough mate and fairly easy for most of us to offer advice. Tougher on soem I guess as they’ve been in similar positions.
What I’d say is get focussed on using your clearly intense love for your daughter to make yourself a better man. I’d leave your wife to one side for now mate, get off the ale, do the right things by your little girl, see her when you can, give her back when you have to, don’t use her as a tool and make the most of your time together. Be polite to all involved and be grateful you’re been given time with her. Start getting arsey and angry and you might just find your ex makes it much more difficult to see her. Whilst you’re doing good things mate she probably won’t make it hard for you.
I reckon if you sort yourself out and prove yourself to be a good father your wife might wonder what she’s done. And if she doesn’t – move on – but keep your little girl your lifes priority and prove yourself to all involved mate.
I’ve got a 2 year old boy and a 5 year old girl and they mean everything to me. For them not to be around me every day would hurt like hell but take stock mate and keep sensible.
    Good luck mate.

Meh, who needs loads of guns. I’d be quite happy with a Colt M4 with the grenade tube. Miss with a shell or there’s more than one of the thieving scrotes trying to nick your bikes and pop one out the tube at them.

Nice one Lister. I gotta say I didn’t have the energy nor the inclination to look at anything other than directly in front of me most of the time. I’ll be sure to look out for cardboard cocks in future though

Hmm how late ? Just watched the bit right after the bridge over the river and I got passed by 3 riders on that short towpath bit between the bridge and the left hander into the finish area. Don’t think I passed anyone on that section.

Doesn’t matter to me. I was having much more fun than him and got to the bottom whilst he still had his cardboard cock to deal with :P

Make sure the rotors are proper V2 ones. They should have “V2” etched on them.
Other Hoep rotors won’t work properly as the V2’s have a bigger braking surface. Not sure if Hope did a 183mm rotor for the V2’s but a 2 minute call to them should clear that up. Give them a bell – they won’t bite.

OK. I clattered into 284 at around 1.09 when I tried a shortcut round the berms and I ended up T-boning him. After that he seemed to get away from me a bit but I can’t find a bit where I got past him later.
I’ve edited the clip from 1.09 onwards but its taking an age to upload to Vimeo. Might be easier to just shove it on a memory stick and post it to him ?

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I’ll let you know how I get on. I think the daftest thing they did is throw my original case away – surely they now have to resolve this one way or another.

I’ve hunted high and low for a picture but I can’t seem to find one. Sadly I can’t even take a picture of my existing broken one as Halfords in their wisdom have disposed of it. If you can take a snap of your existing one that’d be great – I can probably tell you immediately if its right or not. Mine had the chrome silver closing clips, spanners that clipped on flat rather than upright and a load of 3/8″ allen key drives, torx bits and screwdriver bits rather than all the individual bits in a box.

I’m tempted to say what a sad situation but what an incredibly brave man. A few years ago me and a bunch of my friends were passed on the red climb at Glentress by a one-armed cyclist who had a hook on the end of his prosthetic arm and this was hooked around his bars. We were totally in awe of him and still regularly talk about him to this day.

Had mine done at the local GP surgery about 3 months ago. No shaving, just a couple of small nicks, rummaging round inside for the offending pipes, couple of snips and stitches then stiched back up.
Worse bit was teh needle in the bollocks for the anaesthetic, he said it’d feel like a scratch but it felt like someone has rammed a wheel skewer through my rocks. Obviously this only lasted a second or so before the numbness kicked in but I could still have done with a wooden spoon to bite on. Helped somewhat that my doctor turned out to be a keen MTB’er riding the same routes we do so that served as a minro distraction.
Post op was largely OK. You get a rather un-fetching string vest type bollock harness to wear for a few days. I took mine off the day after and bobbed to next, hunch-backed for some briefs. Back in boxers day after and happy days. Only issues has been a fairly long road ride about 4 weeks ago which for some reason swelled one of my nuts right up and was pretty painful. It settled down fairly quickly and I think everything is sorted now.
I had some bruising which affected pretty much all my nutbag and the base of my trouser snake but it was nothing really.
In reply to what one of my riding mates asked me only teh other day – once its done, the plumbing works just the same, its no different. I’ve yet to have my counts done (due middle July) which will probably involve jacking off in a hospital booth but hopefully it’ll have been successful. I wouldn’t like to have to repeat it.
Maybe I was lucky but not much swelling, no big deal really.

MisterFrostie’s 5 is more than bright enough to offset his more subtle Alpine.

:D You got that right. I’d post a pic of it up but I can’t be arsed

Been up Stainburn on the Alpine tonight and it’s back to its brilliant best. Filing cabinet or not, it’ll be ripping down the Alpe D’Huez in a few weeks time whilst the vast majority of the colour critics are sat on here looking for somethign else to slag off.

If you haven’t cracked at least one frame in your MTB career, you’re doing it wrong

misterfrostie, Just saying like. If I were to be given the choice I would have chosen something that A goes with the forks and B makes me feel like I have a nice new bike. It does look very dated. My bikes are quite plain to be honest. 3 white, 2 raw and 2 blue.

I’ll post some better pics up Friday, hopefully you’ll see the atrraction. I’m not fussed about the forks, I’ll probably replace them at some point but not just yet. They’ve got the Mega to survive first anyways 8)

And it helps your argument if you live near the Orange HQ…if I chucked my cracked bike in the back of my car(for the second time apparently) and drive down there I’d expect a BJ whilst I waited on my replacement…oh, and about £200 for diesel…

You either need a new and much more economical motor (like an A6 ) or need to work out how to put a frame in a box, get some help filling in the forms and present it to Parcel Force.
And as Ben would probably decline your expectation for a blowy, mabye you’re better off with a Marin anyway?

any chance of better or bigger pictures…….

Definitely Andy. I’ll get some on Friday and ping them over. It’s a great colour, You’d swear it was polished Aluminium. The chain reflects in the swingarm just like polished ally. I love it.

    And the converse:

I’ve had plenty of bikes (not an Orange) and not one of them has ever developed a crack or failed in any way, so who would I pick: a company whose frames fail, but has good service or one whose bikes don’t fail?

I’ve cracked 5 bikes now including a Trek Liquid, Felt F5, Scott Strike, 5 and Alpine. Maybe I ride them slightly differently to you ?

So you’ve had two oranges with warrenty/frame issues and you’d still go back to buy another?!?! as you say, their customer service must be really good……

Damn right, I’d go back every time.
