Atters absolutely total respect for posting this up mate, it must have been a tough thing to do and I hope all these excellent replies give you some genuine help.

I’ve not much to add other than when I’ve struggled with anxiety it has been gut related as someone has already mentioned. If when you go for a dump its all over very quickly, poorly digested and poorly formed then it may be a factor. I spent a lot of effort on my digestion, it took a long time but I’m loads better now.

Regarding the whole situation you find yourself in, it’s easy for me to say mate but when you’re going through hell it feels like you’ll be in hell forever. But you do come out the other end. And this whole episode will make you stronger.

One of my favourite quotes is Winston Churchill. “If you find yourself going through hell, keep going”

I suspect one day in the not too distant future you’ll look back at this and realise you’ve come out the other end.

Post up about some local rides and get out in the fresh air, it’s a great leveller and stress buster. If you’ve any reason to be around Leeds drop me a line I’d gladly show you around our local trails.

And the best thing you can possibly be with your marriage if it really is over is a great father. That’s the best chance you’ve got of making your wife wonder if she’s making a mistake. Treat your kids right and they’ll always want to be with you.

Good luck my friend I hope you find some good times soon.

My old man is a relentless digging machine but at 75 he’s slowed down a little now. He swears by an old spade he calls a “spit”
It’s just like a long nosed, narrow spade but it’s way easier than a regular shovel or even one of those hinged things. The hardship these days is finding a good quality one though. My old mans spit is probably 40 years old and he loves it like BB King loved his guitar. They seem to be also called draining spades. I’m sure he’ll be making good use of it on our fence now we’ve decided post hole borers aren’t worth bothering with :)

By the way the building company was VIRGO and they were clearly just a bunch of disinterested sharks

I had a similar issue with our neighbour a while back, they had a building company in to do their fascias and soffits and they left the bottom ridge tiles loose – you could see they were. I mentioned it to our neighbour and they did nothing. One night we had a storm and there was a bang – one of the tiles had blown off the roof and smashed into my car. Building company didn’t want to know, nor did our neighbour. My work fixed it in the end as it was a company motor but I was shocked how rude and unhelpful the building company were – it was clearly their fault.
My advice would be to send her a letter by recorded post explaining what has happened and giving her 30 days to sort it or you will arrange it and bill her. Google money claim online and file a case to recover the costs from her. Good luck.

Isn’t this just an unsustainable headline grabber ? I mean with everything that’s going on can we really afford to cut taxes ?

I got one. Being a voucher code providing you head direct for Ebay and enter the code at checkout I’m not sure there’s any risk. Just don’t click on the links in the e mail just in case.

Just bought a shed load of stuff with my voucher. Worked a treat and I’m very very happy :)

Ah – just remembered – White Hart in Pool in Wharfedale. Nice food, nice seating area outside, a bit less “pubby”

Try the Roebuck at the back of Otley, taken over recently, all done up nice and developing a really good reputation. I’m sure you can eat outside but probably best to call first and check. Its part way up a right bastard of a road climb too to you’ll be able to sit out and mock the roadies and they huff and puff past :)

and then a double post misterfrostie.

    It’s really not your week

LOL I know. The bad week was several week ago now though :D

I then overflowed the bath and nearly wrecked a £1200 freshly plastered kitchen ceiling – water pouring out of the new light fittings.
Same night I then screwed through a central heating pipe in the main bedroom and did the same thing to the living room ceiling.
I genuinely am quite reasonable with DIY but for whatever reason that particularly week it just all went tits.

I’ve just got over a nightmare of a week.

Got my mini digger out to help a neighbour dig a drain in his garden and went through our electric cable

Yeah I think you’re right Junk. I should have smelt a rat on the original listing, there was stuff on there like “anything else you see on the photos is part of the fabric of or house and not included in the sale”

Jamie I didn’t start asking questions after the sale, I just made a remark about how I think I might have slipped up with the spec. At that stage I had every intention of going through with the deal, but his reaction made me wonder if I was buying from a reasonable person.

Thanks for the responses lads, often easy to comment upon other peoples situations but harder when its your own. Appreciate the comments.

No need for apologies mate, all input appreciated. Its a good point regarding most likely locations for corporate, but this is the biggest climb of the tour, so probably the slowest section, with great views of the road winding upward. It should be fairly well sought after if we split it up correctly. Hard to know where to start as no lessons learnt yet.

tbh I think we’d just let some of the land off to a professional corporate company / bike company rather than get bogged down in the detail of screens, catering etc.

Is £15 really out of the way for someone to look after your bike for the day ? I’d be happy to ride the 40 or so miles to get there then give someone £15 to keep an eye on my ride for the day. And I’m a Yorkshireman :D

Give him a great home and get him the best care. The rest is down to fate. I hate losing dogs, understand how close you get to them and feel your pain amigo. Look after him. And post a pic up so we can all admire what a fine gentleman he is :-)

Ultima GTR every time. 5 seconds faster round the Top Gear track than the Koenigsegg and multiple world records for a production car.

I saw a cardiologist after having a really high heart rate for like hours after finishing a ride. Had the ECG, exercise ECG and ultrasound on my heart and they found nothing. Doc said my results were exemplery and I should live to 90 !
Have cut out caffeine completely now and that definitely helps.

Stoner that’s a cracking comparison – thanks for that. Have submitted a quotation request to Northern Gas Networks to get us on mains gas, hopefully the price won’t be prohibitive.

Cheers guys. Its a farmhouse about 150 metres from the nearest gas main so I’m not sure bringing gas up would be either possible or economical. Have also considered a wood pellet boiler, looks like the government is gearing up to help in 2013 too.
