@letmetalktomark – Vavert Advancer Front Rack from On One on Salsa Fargo V2 fork, had to do a bit of work to clear big apples. Not many cheap minimal front racks.

I was worried to, but after 6 months of riding no problems. I knew it was a proven technology (tandem frames) but it is normal as ebbs have the reputation of being troublesome (a lot of older Niner frames). I am not worried any more. It’s probably the cleanest solution for tensioning the chain and you can use the ebb to lower the bb or shorten the chainstays when running gears.

Great, glad I am not alone thinking about this. IHG and other expensive/complex solutions are out, want to keep the ss simplicity.
Thinking about Alfine 8 if for any reason would want gears in the future, but not now.
The bike is an older Inbred 29er ss 34×20, normal cassette freehub, Don’t want a big difference in high and low gear.
Can climb most road stuff with 34×18 and 32×20 is great for off road and steeper stuff.
Not planning to change ratio mid ride very often.
The cotic video is what I am after, looks simple enough.
Maybe have to just try it as it is not that expensive.

The 350 IS disc hubs are available in dedicated QR, 15 mm or 20 mm fronts and completely convertible rear hubs with options for 135 QR, thru bolt versions and 142 mm thru axle versions.

I think the front hubs are not convertible, only rear.

Hmm tazzy, interesting this Jones thing, I have just installed a jones loop bar on the stooge a few weeks ago. Do you think it is contagious?

Went from zee + 40t to the new RADr cage + 42t. The result is much better shifting in lower cogs.

    The result …

A bit tighter than the jockey wheel ones. Maybe yours is stuck somehow, have no other explanation.

I fitted the RADr cage to Slx med cage today, no problems with the clutch bold here. Was easier than expected.

Chewy knuckleball on my rigid stooge. Very happy. Noticeably more comfortable in the rough than some other carbon bars i have (Answer 20/20) and way better than any alu bar. Haven’t noticed any strange side effects wile riding. Finish is better then most bars i’ve seen (better than answer) If you like the traditional riser bar shape then go for it.

Cheapest you can find (even deore 615 is ok) and the new RADr cage (shorter than the old RAD cage)

    Bike: Stooge
What: Answer 20/20 Carbon (width 720mm)
Why: more comfortable on longer less technical rides
What: On-One Knuckleball Chewy version (width 747mm)
Why: noticeably softer, better position on more down oriented stuff

Bike: Inbred with rigid Salsa fork
Whar: On One Mary (width 645mm)
Why: ideal commuter bar (too narrow for trail use)

To try: Jones Loop (carbon?), something in titanium

Slovenia. Not a bad place to be at the moment 😉

Bought the frame and fork from a friend (all I wanted was a test ride 🙂 ), so probably still the only Stooge in the country.

    3. Surly Knard front tyre. The Stooge was designed to be run with this tyre. It provides all the suspension you need. Regular 29er tyres will work fine but the steering will speed up a little and obviously more chatter makes it through. I originally ran the Knard on a skinny rim and it was fine, though i now use a Velocity Dually which allows it to be run at a lower pressure.

A few thoughts after riding mine for some time:

it may be designed to run Knards on the front but wide 2.4 (Chunky Monkey, Ardent) tires work just fine. May try 29plus in the future when tire selection and tubeless support improves and prices lower.[/*]

Answer 20/20 bars (20 degrees sweep) are great, especially for climbing but normal wide risers are better when descending rough technical stuff (elbows out). Still undecided on which to settle on. Prefer carbon bars on rigid bikes as they improve comfort.[/*]

The paint is really high quality, my trails are rocky and had a lot of paint damage on the other frames. Stooge is sill perfect with very few marks.

The bike feels efficient (stiffer at bb maybe) when climbing but it is comfortable at the same time.[/*]

The bike is well balanced, the riding position is more upright, comfortable and efficient at the same time. When climbing the front wheel is planted and while descending I rarely have to drop the saddle. The saddle can be dropped all the way down too.[/*]

The EBB has been trouble free for now and I like the option to lower the BB height as it rides better with lower BB.[/*]
And now the things i would like to improve in the future:

a bit more clearance at the back just to fit wider tyres (Ardent 2.4) with more clearance.[/*]

remove the front derailleur guides as they are pointless imho (ss or 1×10)[/*]

the reinforcing plate at the top tube looks a bit agricultural.[/*]

it could be lighter :)[/*]
placid_casual can you do a mini review of the jones and salsa bars on the stooge.

the wide edge is facing forward, the narrower one is on the back

Why medium when short is fine (unless you are planning on using 40/42 extender cog)?

I fully understand that sometimes being an early adopter is not the most financially sound decision 🙂

Was excited about 29+ tyres (and dually rims) too, but after seeing the prices … chunky monkey on flows will be ok for me and my stooge while waiting for the prices to drop.
