It scares me to think how devious these buggers are.

Yeah they advised me that I have 7 days to return the vehicle after they receive a check for the 5k that they have offered me. That’s fine but do I need to be worrying now that’s the question

My **** insurance company essentially told me that I had to use AX. Grrr

Thanks Dave for your extremely literate and detailed post.
The van has about 116k on the clock so pretty low miles and is the 2.5ltr 6 spd which go for a bit more.
So still not clear why I need to off hire this Peugeot nugget? I need a vehicle to get to work in and assured that the third party insurance will pick up the bill.
Sorry in advance for being dim but as Dave has explained I am from Wigan…

All the 2 star reviews and if you read them it’s just that the valve stem is not threaded

    Thanks guys you are awesome.

Dave you certainly are a chiselled and fine figure of a man. Not the gangling skinny gent they say you are.

Still don’t reckon the t 130 will have enough travel though to compensate for my shit riding.

Are the shapeshifters really that unreliable?

Don’t know if we’ll have room for a hot water tank really.

Good point on the efficiency btw. The Alpha was pretty old tech me thinks

King-O what warranty are you talking about, manufacturer or insurance style?

I’ll get ours serviced, agreed with the CO poisoning.

I think that about 32kw would be adequate for water and heating but my only worry is running the shower in the loft. Can’t stand the electric ones so getting a thermostatic mixer type.

Wasn’t sure if I needed such a big boiler really. That’s why I mentioned it.

I’ll check out the Ideal Vogue Matt if you say it’s alright, cheers.

We have a 3 bed mid terrace, not massive and are going into the loft with another 2 small beds for the kids and a small shower room. Think the Alpha that we have is a 33kw

Flue wise it’s staying in the same place and it’s next to the external wall in the kitchen so straight out.

Was told to go for the biggest 40kw model as it will be less strained and we are going into the loft in the next couple of weeks.

Ta guys, quite possible that Shropshire do not allow fires. You can’t light a fire within the New Forrest either but there are campsites just outside which let you.

    Will check these out =]

    Dave that was quick.

I have a couple of the top and bottom guides from superstar and have been good so far. Cheap and cheerful but nothing to go wrong

If you are depressed in winter it could be SAD seasonal affective disorder. I have to start taking St John’s Wart in October /November time. Works a treat

+1 for the blood, brilliant fun and definitely pedals well.

I have a 2006 Trance frame I was going to get around to selling. Will sell for £220 posted with rp23 shock, shimano bb and a headset. Shock serviced and bearings all changed very recently. It is copper colour and has plenty of cable and heal rub but apart from that in perfect working order.

Had my first ride on the Marley yesterday round the Surrey hills. Have to say I was mighty impressed, nothing seems to phase it, roots, rocks, drops, jumps, switchbacks, anything. Rode very much like my Orange Blood which is extremely composed at speed and loves being in the air. Except of course very light in comparison and a harsher but not overly harsh back end.

All in all, definately recommend the Marley

Secret Santa top section is definately obliterated, tried going down about 400 yards yesterday and gave up. Rode switchbacks all the way down though no problem.

Taking my Marley out for its first ride round the Surrey hills tomorrow. It seems really light for a hard hitting bike. I will try to remeber to report back. 🙂

Hope from Wiggle. Seriously the Shimano ones last all of 5 mins. Will be cheaper in the long run and more bling!

    mirage

Yes it will slacken it but also raises the bb height so doesn’t necessarily make the bike feel better downhill.

Could you fit a slack set also? Might be too slack though.

Dont buy the GT. Those Radon forks are god awful. I borrowed a mates bike to ride in Leeds on a short wet ride and they had packed solid so they wouldnt move within an hour and a half.

Go for something with rockshock forks if you can. Forks seem to be the weakest bit ona budget bike.

I have found Edinborough Bike Cooperative very good for cheapish bikes

    Definately +1 for porn.

Seriously though i have the same problem and i use a 661 pro wrist guard from chainreaction and it is great.

It gives support and protects you in a crash from bending the wrist back. Worth a try imo

    Just to complicate things…

X-Fusion Hi-Lo is pretty sweet and had no trouble with even in the crap weather. Seems to be very good quality and well sealed. Wiggle have been selling quite cheap. Got mine for £130ish

Cool thanks guys. May try out the Troy Lee as a replacement. Also looked at the zero from St which I am sure are worth a punt.

Loose ones are heavy too. Defo get a sealed shimano square taper bb. They last forever too.

Cheers dude got the turquiose in large. Google scott shortts sizing chart and it says large for 34″ waste.

    Round Keswick area is best

    Ullock Pike
    Borrowdale Bash
Walna Scar Road (check this one though as part of it might have been resurfaced since I last did it also it’s a bit vague at the top and easy to loose the trail)

General advice; some of he riding will scare the pants off you and it WILL piss it down.

Have fun and I may see you up there as 12 of us are up there this weekend too
