    Oh nice.

I left in 1996 to go to uni and the wide world but moved back 2013.

my wife’s from Tresaith and we now live in Aberporth.

Getting an ebike 4 years ago meant I could finally cycle up the back side of Foel y Mwnt after a teenage hood of failure!

Blimey, you’re not from Cardigan are you??

we moved to Ferwig in ‘88.

@salad_dodger good spot by the way! This is me riding Mwnt circa 1994 as a 16 year old!

@mrmoofo I did write a few words a couple of responses back.

it felt more stable but still capable on the nadergy stuff.

Honestly hard to compare fairly because the Rail is medium , the Levo is large and brand new!

when I borrowed my mates alu Levo S4 I was faster everywhere than on my Rail and my Rail was pretty good! My Rail was the smaller gen2 too.

I could even just unconsciously think the Levo is better because I’ve dropped a load of dosh so it’d better be! 🤔

I never ran a coil on the rear of the Rail but most other bits are the same as yours, including Shiguras.

The other difference is going from a medium Rail to a large Levo.

maybe because the Levo is brand new and the Rail is now 3 years old, gen 2 too.

It felt a better fit, more planted and comfy. It somewhat surprised me because I loved riding the Rail.

I can’t be bothered to read the other ebike thread as I was guessing there’d be a lot of dull trolling?!
Fair do’s, they design a good bike. Technically it’s too big for me as an S4 and I’m 5’8” but the 175mm dropper works a treat and I’m loving the reach and dinky stem.
This was my last Specialized, an SX Trail:

Like some of you my dad died from a brain tumour.

Initially we were pushed away by the medical professionals saying he was doddery etc. because he was blind. He was a bear of a man who smashed out massive walks daily and swim a lot too.

we obviously knew otherwise and pushed back. Finally got a scan and then the worst news.

He managed two ops and two years which was incredible.

i can’t believe how many young people it kills, at least my dad made 69 which was still way too young.

**** I miss him. And now I’m blubbing stood boarding my flight home from China. (buying loads of Lewis brakes…jokes).

I was chatting to a cleaner in one place, just after he’d cleaned one of the bogs.

He’d used rubber gloves and a brush and had got stuck right in – not my chocolate hostage I hasten to add.

He stood up as we were starting to chat, looked in the mirror and proceeded to smooth down his hair and give his face a bit of rub, still with the rubber gloves on.

My eyes nearly popped out of my head!

Ours is great too. In fact all consultant delivery engineers/operatives to our house are superb, including Royal Mail.

Someone asked earlier about the Tesla Y, I’ve had the base model since March and it’s brilliant.

Loads of space, fantastic handling, great, usable tech. Just changed the rear tyres at 16k miles which I don’t think is bad.

It’s a company car, but if I was to move jobs we would really miss it as our family car, but I couldn’t afford/justify buying my own sadly.

It’s better in every way than my old 2016 BMW 335d estate. Including build quality.

@matt_outandabout interesting point, and that was our original plan.

Technically it doesn’t need changing but we’d probably gain a couple of grand changing cars, then there’s a saving on fuel v’s electric, we’ve already got the charger and the charging rate is something like 7p / KWH and, finally, road tax is about £260 on the Merc versus zero on the Leaf.

Some nice little financial benefits for a “slightly” more appropriate car.

@molgrips I missed your original post whilst writing mine. Much more reassuring.

we live in a small village called Aberporth in west wales, the kids walk to school, so it’s shopping in Cardigan (12 miles round trip), after school delights and occasionally Aberystwyth or Carmarthen – 80 miles would do us fine.

thanks for all the feedback so far.

    Thanks both.

i did try search, it’s appalling as you’ve already recognised! 😁

bloody hell, is it really that bad?! 20 miles with the bigger 30kwh battery? That’s ridiculous!

that probably explains why you can get a 2016/2017 for under £7000!

I’ll take a look at a Zoe, which is also my daughters name, so she’d be delighted!

    @singlespeedstu

I sent something (dropper post) back about 10 days ago and have had an email today confirming they are processing my returns package, please allow 10 days for the refund to be processed.

    It’s “only” £80.

I had two pairs of forks to return but I got scared and ebayed them instead. I wasn’t looking to make money, in fact I lost money doing this , but I did get most of the money spent back which was my priority given the ongoing situation!

@stwhannah – this is my problem to solve! “I look forward to the days immediately ahead rather than dreading the days between now and some mythical future retirement when all good things shall come to pass.”

Reasonably well paid but boring job. Away from home 2-3 nights a week and miss my wife & kids, all the while saying to myself that when I retire it’ll all come good.

    I’m 45 FFS.

Not interested in a Porsche etc. My mini MLC is definitely centred around an overwhelming feeling of apathy at work whilst pretending everyday to give a sh!t about work. The faking is very draining.

Very happy at home and good friends fortunately so I suck it up.

I was devastated to see this. Never been there, probably never will.

Across the field from our house in coastal Ceredigion a new, local, millionaire caravan park owner bought the caravan park opposite.

within days he had his people cut down about half an acre of designated ancient woodland.

No permission or open request made.

we lost bats and owls. Otter poo was also seen at the base of the woodland where it met the stream.

I made his life hell and managed to delay his works for about a year, but ultimately there was no penalty and he got to build what he wanted anyway, just a year later – a gargantuan concrete retaining wall in place of ancient woodland.

It still boils my blood particularly because that is now the view from the back of house.
The council and NRW did nothing. 😔

Mini rant over. Sympathy for what’s happened at the gap in abundance.

@lister these are the ones I bought:

    I paid £26.99, they’ve got up a quid.

    I bought 2 x 203mm 2.3mm TRP rotors on ebay for a decent price.

At this price it’s only twice as much as two sets of decent pads. Crazy.

My mates bought one. He runs a lot of plant and is always towing so that weight thing identified by Rusty will be interesting.
It’s not arrived yet and I have been teasing him a bit about the negative reviews but I haven’t gone full bore yet, despite our friendship lasting over 30+ years since we were 10. It’s just a lot of money to then take the piss mercilessly!

I can’t get local adults to do a days work around here.

Even mates on the bread line won’t come and graft for me at £250 a day! By graft I mean help me lay a new chipboard floor.

    Hi there.
Go elsewhere in my opinion. I have a slightly larger head at 60cm and I couldn’t get the medium on (DH helmet BTW) without seriously causing myself ear damage!

I now use a large and I look ridiculous, it’s enormous! A mate is pretty senior in POC so I get cheap stuff but nothing really fits which is a bit of a bummer!

Whereas a medium GIRO Tyrant and Source fit perfectly and I don’t look quite so odd. Medium Giro are sized up to 59cm so go figure.

I guess try before you buy.

Off the back of this thread I had a look around Richer Sounds for a new soundbar because ours was a freebie JBL when we joined BT a few years.

Sooooo, on Tuesday I bought this one for £189.

    https://www.richersounds.com/polk-signa-s2.html

My hearing is ruined from various accidents so I’m no audiophile.

However, what I do want to mention is that when I checked today for no real reason other than to find the link I saw that it’s down to £150! Fair play, a quick call to Richer Sounds and they immediately refunded me the difference.

How’s about that for service! Just hope it’s decent enough now :)
