Prior to reading all the today's threads on air v's coil shocks I have been seriously considering fitting a coil to mine.
To further complicate things I was thinking of fitting a smaller i2i coil shock in the xc position, thus maintaining a slack H/A, reducing the travel and having a coil…or simply getting my RP2 Push'd.
I love it in the FR position, it absolutely flys, but not bothered about 140mm travel, would kinda prefer the same H/A but 120mm of coil. Or am I being a knobjockey?
    Decisions, decisions.

I use crap loads of sunflowers seeds when I make bread. I think they're good for your sperm count??

I like the sound of honey instead of sugar though…

Great feedback, thanks to all! I'll take a look at a few days guiding as an option instead, but money is very tight for some in group (one teenager).

Can't really face Les Gets / Morzine again (after 10+ plus trips there), although for a weeks easy to find riding it is pretty good.

I did Alps D'Huez (the Mega) 2 years ago and the riding was fantastic, long DH singletrack and I enjoyed myself immensely without the need of a guide, it was much better than the short DH runs in Portes de Soleil IMO.

Taking an SX Trail this year rather than a DH bike for a more all mountain experience.

Amen to that! I'm not noticing much either. Look fwd to the suggestions!

great tip about the paint, they're only a few microns too thick so hopefully that would solve the issue…now where's the wet & dry

Z1ppy, it's not an air can on my SX trail, it's the coil DHX. But I am considering a PUSHed Van R for my Prophet instead of the RP2 that's on there, just not sure I can justify, financially, a new shock and PUSH service…

Great feedback from all, thanks, regarding a new top end shock, sadly that's prohitibively expensive especially when you consider the frame is 3 years old and worth less than even a new 'ordinary' shock.

Based on the above and my own experience of PUSH on my DH bike I think I'll bite the bullet and get it done.

    Cheers

So no going back to XC slot then!

Fuzzhead…is the coil fitted to the 'freeride' holes?? If so, piccies please and what shock?? I'm nearly excited here

If you want to stick a coil on your Prophet you have to say goodbye to the XC tabs! BIG commitment!

Great feedback guys, I know you're all right and I should keep and spend dosh elsewhere, but I was really looking to sell it and use the money on an alternative…
Everyone keeps throwing the words about loving the bike back at me and I guess you're right!
Would be very interested to stick a Pushed Van R on as I prefer coil shocks but it won't fit in the 'freeride' position unless I saw/file off the XC tabs which I'm not keen on doing if I ever try and sell the frame!
I've already got 2010 Magura Thors on which are fantastic so i don't need new forks, rest of the kit is pretty decent too so that only leaves a new/different frame or alternative coil shock (which I'm very keen on doing!)
    Suggestions?!
    Cheers

thanks guys, I've tried the fox site but, if memory serves me correct, there is a PDF doc knocking around that shows removing the lowers to clean the seals more effectively – specific to the UK or something – which the Fox site doesn't do..

I'm definitely not a student! I've looked at rightmove and it's pretty good.
Ironically I actually own a house in Cardiff but I put my sister and her mate in it whilst I sorted my life out a bit…now I'm sorted I need to get a place for her and her friends so i can have my house back!
    I love Cardiff too!

just read this: "Get fitter, sweat less."

What a crock. Even at my fittest I sweat like a nun in labour.

I need to work out how to stop my face sweating now…

I'm a really sweaty bugger and nothing works for me either! I've settled on a merino wool base layer and an eVent jacket and this is the best combo for me when the temp is above about 8deg C.

So I agree with the wear less philosophy.

But unlike your good self stilltortoise my core/main body is boiling all the time.

What doesn't help are backpacks, they ruin me in terms of sweating but sadly a cage and bottle on my Prophet just doesn't work.

Sadly I missed that one, but I've read some of the bumpf online today.

Regarding salary, yes I appreciate there is a big disconnect but my company has already stopped my pension( in lieu of £500million losses), I get 25 days holiday, I work at least 6 days a week on the continent per month (not including travel), I occasionally travel at weekends if it's a longhaul trip and now in ecomony class and finally they want me to move to Germany.

With that in mind dropping my annual salary isn't such a loss!

The benefit, from what i can see, is that I can go straight into FE rather get 'paid' 8k for a year whilst doing a PGCE thus forcing me to sell my house to afford to do it. Plus, I'd rather teach young adults or mature students anyway.

I've just become the importer/distributer for Karpiel and Duncon frames. We're launching properly in the next couple of months. I have a short size Disco Volante in stock – review coming out in either next months Dirt or the month after. Previously seen in MBUK Super Bikes.

    Disco Volanté Frame Details

Priced at £2225, and I can do you some free stuff too – pedals and headset. Alternatively there's our 'cheaper' brand, Duncon who do the Cane Corso at a considerably cheaper £1199 (again with free stuff for the black model) or an even better price on the white which has two paint chips from transportation on the inside of the chain stays. Both in small.

All frames have a 2yr warranty and are definitely different and quirky!

If you're at all interested feel free to give me a call – 07920293280.

    Cheers,

    Hi Dave,
Thanks for a great response, funny you should mention the Cologne thing because actually I spend more time in Cologne than Dusseldorf. My office is in Duss but my customer (Ford) is in Cologne.
So I was considering a base there, and I understood it was the cheaper city!
I currently live in Cardiff which suits my lifestyle perfectly with easy access to great riding and a standard of living I'm very happy with.
What's the riding like around cologne? I imagine it's a bit of a trek to decent hilly stuff – I'm more of a DHer at heart but love all day XC too.
    Thanks again

I went to a party in Paris with Jody Hawkes, Chesney Hawkes' brother, he was actually pretty sound.
I've been on S4C three times and represented Wales in rowing (and won gold) even though I'm technically English.

yup, the power comes from the hydraulic or electric steering pump which, to keep it simple, is driven by the engine. Therefore if the engine is off/stalled then there's no power to the pump and you do the donkey work!

New speakers have spade connectors whereas the existing speakers have a 'Ford' connection head.

OK, so trial and error it is. If it sounds good then I'm ok!

    Thanks to all,
I think it should be a mini-hifi really. I don't want to use an amp and line out because I want the convenience of a remote control for the ipod.
I agree that the stations speakers are gash, although the Bose isn't too bad!

wow, thanks to all, certinaly some conflicting feedback, but all is appreciated! Maybe I'm just on a sort of rebound but I just love the idea of all that land and no other bugger!
Although I do rather enjoy a night out (pubs) and extremes of temp ruin me! So that's not good, although I was always aware of those 'problems'.

I atually found the Canadians I met (sister's boyf and family etc.) charming and open minded.

    Thanks again guys

the car shampoo with a little water was very slippery and great as it causes a slick seal between the tube and tyre.
Tyres were non-UST, just standard Snakeskin jobbies, I used some justridingalong latex stuff which worked great for all my old UST purposes. The tyres actually sealed pretty well without the latex.

    Mintyjim

I used loads of soapy water all over the inner tube and tyre bead (I used car shampoo with a little water through a spray gun). I used a track pump whilst giving the tyre a squeeze near the valve.
Honestly it was easier (for me) than 4 sets of pukka UST wheelsets.

I know I got lucky! And maybe the sex comment would get my arse kicked if my beloved saw that! So I’ll retract that please!
